Megan Kolofer, Golden 1 Credit Union joins the show to discuss the Financial Wellness Challenge for Kids.  Golden 1 Credit Union introduced “The Challenge” to six Sacramento-area nonprofits that invest in youth. The Challenge is Golden 1's new budget simulation workshop, which uses an interactive game to teach students and young adults about financial literacy. The event had a total of 75 participants from the ages of 13 to 22. Central High School students are also taking part in Golden 1 Credit Union's Financial Wellness Challenge. "Our goal is that all of our students will be successful in the real world, and we want them to practice now when we are talking about fake money, fake bills and fake expenses," says Alyssa Fite - Family and Consumer Science teacher at Central High School. ALEX STONE, ABC NEWS joined the program to discuss the Idaho College Murder Investigation. Police in Moscow, Idaho released a map and timeline of the whereabouts of four University of Idaho students in the hours before they were stabbed to death. After dealing with depression and struggling to get back to herself, in 2019 Maggie found her joy and happiness in dancing.  She realized the power of putting the oxygen mask on herself first. She talks about the experience of being a mom, a wife and running multiple businesses all while integrating her version of the elements. Maggie explains how this lifestyle routine supports her and her self-care. Learning how to be more in tune with herself, she has been an example to her children of how to more mindfully live in their elements. Maggie has been a major contributor in the LDUB CLUB and the 7 Elements community. Sherri and Christa are both LDUB Club members who did the 7 Elements of Wellness challenge when it was first introduced in Laci Wall's dance class.  They share how having accountability with each other, along with community support, was a huge impact to their growth. Christa gives insight into the struggles of letting go of perfection and that there is a certain way to measure success. The mental shift from a “to do” list to a “to be” list changed their perspective and allowed room to give themselves grace, continue to do their very best, and make the checklist their very own. They share how to customize the checklist items for yourself to continue on the path to growth.    Their biggest piece of advice: Don't let the 7 Elements of Wellness checklist intimidate you. Flow as many days as you can, then start again, as needed. “The more we learn, and the more we grow, the easier it is to continue to flow.” They encourage anyone that is wanting support from a community to be part of the 7 Elements of Wellness FB group to connect with other like minded people. They have personally enjoyed the local events and speakers as well as the other experiences and activities offered through the 7 Elements of Wellness group. Bill Gates said- Most people often overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in 10 years (cant get to 10 years without going through 6 months first right?)   So let's start with 6 months Nov 1st 2021 – Apr 30th 2022   Come up with your own 6-month challenge. Whatever it is you feel you need to work on and would like to get better at. What do you really want out of life? What do you really want to achieve? Think about those things and some steps you could make over the next 6 months to get there. My goals are going to be based on the 8 pillars of wellness. After witnessing her own mother struggle her entire life with weight issues, and headed down the same route, Rita decided to "grab a hold" of her health in 2007 with the birth of her daughter Ariana. She knew she had to change her lifestyle and be an example for her new bundle of joy. Rita picked up her first a at dumbbell at 27 years old and started down the path that would change her entire life. After a few years of transforming her own lifestyle and physique, Rita decided she wanted to share this lifestyle with others. She became a certified trainer and nutritionist and started helping other women "Regain their Shine". During this time, Rita started on a fitness modelling career and graced the covers of over 7 international fitness magazines, including Oxygen and Womens Health and Fitness. Rita also competed internationally in Bikini Modelling and went on to represent Canda at The Arnold's International stage in Madrid before "hanging up her heels" in 2014.  Rita has since gone on to create many programs for women, including her 12 Week Transformation Program, her 4 Weeks To Fab program, and many more.
