Please give Talking to Teens 5 stars on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Reviews help other parents find us and helps us keep the lights on! Thanks for listening!Blame is one of humanity's oldest coping mechanisms. When things go wrong, we're quick to point a finger at someone and declare that it's their fault–creating war, political division, and heartbreak as a result. Not to mention that half the time we're pointing the finger at ourselves, which typically only leads to self-loathing and insecurity. The truth is, blaming someone or something for our issues isn't going to make them go away. If we really want to confront our problems, heal our traumas and live better we've got to stop blaming and start accepting. This week, we're talking to Denis Murphy, author of The Blame Game: How to Recover from the World's Oldest Addiction. Denis is a coach and healer who's worked with companies, families and individuals all over the world. His practices focus on helping people stop blaming themselves or others for misfortune in their life, and instead learn to harness their mental and physical wellness to create the life they want.In our interview, we're talking about why parental expectations can lead us to blame kids when things go wrong. We also discuss how suppressing our negative thoughts can cause mental and even physical pain, and break down the importance of self honesty.

Jaclyn Murphy was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma when she was 9 years old. During her treatment, the Women's Lacrosse Team from Northwestern University found out about what Jaclyn was going through, and "Adopted" her as a team member. This act of kindness proved to be a special one for both Jaclyn and Northwestern, so much so that Jaclyn's father Denis and the Murphy family started the Friends Of Jaclyn Foundation. The central theme of this Foundation centers around its Adopt A Child Program, in which colleges and high schools around the country "Adopt" a Pediatric Cancer patient and make them a team member. This foundation was started in 2005 and is nearing 1000 patients that have been adopted with many more to join them in the future.Jaclyn is now 27 years old and is able to live a life of good health as she and her dad give so much back to kids who need it the most.

Monday, 12 April 2021, 10 – 11am A research presentation by Dr Denis Murphy (Department of Film, TCD) as part of the School of Creative Arts Research Forum (SCARF) in association with Trinity Long Room Hub. Although filmmaking in Ireland dates back to the silent era, Irish film workers have not always enjoyed easy access to employment on the international productions on which the Irish film industry has always depended for its economic survival. These struggles – for the right to employment itself, and the right to influence its quality through pay and working conditions – have been shaped throughout the past six decades by film worker activism. This presentation introduces this ‘bottom-up' approach to understanding Irish film and television production, highlighting the unique contribution of film workers to the development of screen policy in Ireland. The research, therefore, takes a novel approach to the examination of Irish screen media, appreciating them for their industrial rather than cultural aspects – and particularly the extent to which they provide quality employment to screen workers (and screen producers) in Ireland. Denis Murphy is a Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Dept. of Film at Trinity College Dublin, where he also lectures in screen production. He has also lectured at DCU and Maynooth University and previously worked as an editor and producer in film, cable television, multimedia and advertising. His book on the labour history of Irish film and television production is to be published by Liverpool University Press. The School of Creative Arts Research Forum meets fortnightly at 10am on Mondays during term and is led by the School's doctoral students. The aim of the Forum is to give a space for School researchers, both staff and postgraduate students, to share their ideas in a supportive environment. It is also an opportunity for the School to hear about the research of colleagues both from within TCD and outside who share our research interests. In line with the research agenda of the School, talks will encompass traditional research and practice-based research and will be followed by Q&A.
Welcome to St. Batrick's Day!!! It's a (week late) celebration of St. Patrick's Day combined with some more zoological cinema. This time, Logan and Dustin are drinking some Irish brews and watching the 1999 film Bats! They've got some #festfacts about St. Patrick's Day, they make black and tans (Guinness combined with Harp Lager), and they dig into some history about Guinness and Jameson. They also review and share information about the Lou Diamond Phillips film that straight up made them both nauseous. So, pour a pint, hang upside down, and celebrate St. Batrick's Day! The twelve signs of the Zodiac, the twelve sons of Jacob, the twelve months of the year, the twelve hours in the day, the twelve powers of Hercules, the twelve Tribes of Israel, the twelve gates of heavenly Jerusalem, the twelve pillars of the temple of Heliopolis, the twelve altars of Fanus, the twelve shields of Mars, the twelve mansions of the moon, and the twelve apostles – all symbolize and portray the twelve powers of man or the elements of consciousness. These powers must be disciplined and purified before man becomes Jesus the Christ. The twelve sons of Jacob are the twelve disciples. The blazing star is I Am. Jesus the man found it; he became “Christed” or awakened to his Godhood here and now; translated his body, and went back to the Glory, which was his before the world was. He tells us about it in the 17th chapter of John; "1 have glorified thee on the earths, I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. And now, 0 Father; glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. (John 14:4.5.) Before the world was I Am. Before Abraham was I Am. When all things cease to be, I Am. Joseph Murphy was born on May 20, 1898, in a small town in the County of Cork, Ireland. His father, Denis Murphy, was a deacon and professor at t-he National School of Ireland, a Jesuit facility. His mother, Ellen, née Connelly, was a housewife, who later gave birth to another son, John, and a daughter, Catherine. Joseph was brought up in a strict Catholic household. His father was quite devout and, indeed, was one of the few lay professors who taught Jesuit seminarians. He had a broad knowledge of many subjects and developed in his son the desire to study and learn.Welcome To The Reality RevolutionBUY MY BOOK! https://www.amazon.com/Reality-Revolution-Mind-Blowing-Movement-Hack/dp/154450618X/Music By Mettaverseinner worlds➤ Listen on Soundcloud: http://bit.ly/2KjGlLI➤ Follow them on Instagram: http://bit.ly/2JW8BU2➤ Join them on Facebook: http://bit.ly/2G1j7G6➤ Subscribe to their channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyvjffON2NoUvX5q_TgvVkwAll my videos about Dr. Joseph Murphy - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKv1KCSKwOo_OtBhXg2s85UuZBT-OihF_All My Neville Goddard Videos In One Playlist - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKv1KCSKwOo8kBZsJpp3xvkRwhbXuhg0MFor all episodes of the Reality Revolution – https://www.therealityrevolution.comLike us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/RealityRevolutionPodcast/Join our facebook group The Reality Revolution https://www.facebook.com/groups/403122083826082/Subscribe to my Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOgXHr5S3oF0qetPfqxJfSw#nevillegoddard #audiobooks #imagination #newthought

Taking my Life Back by Denis Murphy depicts an insightful journey of how to break away from the social stigma and mental labels that have branded us since childhood. The story begins in rural France where the main character experiences a mental break from reality. This break from reality ultimately leads to some fundamental questions coming to the surface. These questions are the initial thoughts that create the journey ahead.Throughout the book, the author articulates some of the personal trials he was faced with as he navigates his way through paranoia, hallucinations and addictive behaviors. In doing so he creates a structure for those individuals looking to overcome the traumatic me-against-the-world/kill-or-be-killed mentality in favor of gaining the emotional intelligence needed to rewrite the script, plot and setting of their past, present, and future. If you’re the type of person who’s ready to truly find your own distinct self as opposed to striving to become what you think society and other people want you to be then reading Taking my Life Back will bring you closer to a lifestyle of becoming an optimist of opportunity in even the smallest of moments rather than staying deluded by the perceived difficulty of everyday tasks.Visit Denis Murphy website:https://thehappymindset.com/View all EPISODES and WATCH THE TRAILERClick here: https://www.maria-abrenica.comWANT TO START YOUR OWN PODCAST?https://www.buzzsprout.com/?referrer_id=694901Please SUBSCRIBE & SUPPORT the show.Thank you so much!Support the show (http://www.buzzsprout.com/757583)

Here's a slide which gives its name to a great record of Juiia Clifford and Denis Murphy from Sliabh Luachra. The name may have other connotations too but I don't understand them, whatever they may be.
Here's a flute friendly sort of reel. Brendán Breathnach got it from Denis Murphy but it appears on a few other people's records, including one of Mary Bergin and one of Matt Molloy. My playing here is more Lame Knack Cross than Lománach Cross but hopefully it is still a cross that is possible to bear.
Here's a reel named after the Kerry fiddle player Denis Murphy - sorry Johnny Cronin. I'm not sure whether to play the parts single or double. I never thought counting up to 1 would be such a challenge.
Here's a Denis Murphy tune with a great name.
This might not be the "O'Mahoney's" you were expecting (as if people sit around expecting hornpipes of whatever name) but I noticed it under this name in "Ceol Rince na hÉireann Vol 2. I always just called it "do you know this one?". Brendán Breathnach took it down from Denis Murphy's playing for CRÉ 2. I'll go with the present name as I always believe what other people have written.
Here's one of those tunes which lots of people say is very common but can't remember the last time they either heard or played it. No I come to think of it, I've never heard anybody say "Hey, isn't The Morning Star a popular reel?". I've spent too much time typing stuff on this site and am starting to come out with solipsistic claptrap. It is popular though, I think. If you find the record "The Star Above The Garter" of Denis Murphy and Julia Clifford, you'll have a good version of this reel close at hand. If you do find the record (either in LP or CD format), it might even be mine. I never had much luck instilling a homing instinct in my copies of that recording.
The first one is Amhrán an Tae (The Tea Song) and I've called the second one "Denis Murphy's". Considering the number of tunes the last Mr. Murphy knew, this title is usually a safe bet when you don't know the actual name.
Here's Kennedy's Favourite and the Woman of the House. Best listen to a recording of Denis Murphy or Padraig O'Keefe at these to get them right. They're easy enough extracted from a flute.
