Erwan Le Corre is the founder of “MovNat”, a synthesis of his long-term passion for real-world physical competency, his love of movement in nature, his extensive knowledge of Physical Education history, and his personal philosophy of life. He believes it is everyone's universal and biological birthright to be strong, healthy, happy and free. He calls this state of being our “True Nature”. Erwan was born on September 10th, 1971 in France. At home, the TV set had a black and white screen with no remote control and no video games, and personal computers and internet didn't exist. Most leisure time was spent outdoors exploring the surrounding woods. He was not only free to go move outside as much as he wanted, he was actively encouraged to do so. At a very young age, Erwan's father would often take him outdoors to run, crawl, climb, and jump, helping him to push his physical and mental limits. That's when his passion for movement in nature started. Until his teenage years, Erwan's only physical education came from Judo and exploring the world around him. Listen to this episode of The MOVEMENT Movement with Erwan Le Corre about enhancing cognition through natural movement. Here are some of the beneficial topics covered on this week's show: - How adding primal movements into physical training allows people to reconnect individuals with nature and enhance physical capabilities. - Why engaging in natural movement enhancing your memory and brain function. - How incorporating natural movements like squatting into daily activities enhances your physical capability. - Why people should engage in walking and sensory stimulation in natural environments to contribute to cognitive health. - How you can reconnect with your innate physical abilities through practicing natural movements. The Fat-Burning Man Show by Abel James: The Future of Health & Performance
Are you a nose-breather or a mouth-breather? I sat down for lunch recently with a few old friends, and one of them asked: “Abel, what is the most underrated performance hack in health and fitness?” I said without hesitation, “nasal breathing.” When you learn to harness the power of the breath, you can rewire your entire nervous system, which has vast implications for your health, performance, and even your personality. The state of our nervous system directly impacts our quality of life and ability to enjoy life's challenges. Today we're here with one of the OG's of alternative health and natural movement, the creator of MovNat and Breathholdwork, our friend Erwan Le Corre. Erwan is known as the "Godfather of Natural Movement" and is author of "The Practice of Natural Movement." No slouch, Erwan holds a US National Record in static breath-holding with a 7 minutes 29 seconds performance. His personal best breath hold currently sits at 8 minutes 03 seconds! This episode is both practical and deeply existential, with questions like: “Are we spiritual beings having a human experience, or humans having a spiritual experience?” I hope you dig this one. On this episode, you'll discover: How Erwan developed and practiced the ability to hold his breath for 8 minutes (!!!) Why hyperventilation leads to sympathetic dominance, which can be detrimental to well-being Why developing physical capability is a moral responsibility How to manage your mindset to become more resilient and thrive under stress The physical, emotional, and mental consequences of breathwork How to achieve a state of peace, trust, and love through regulating your nervous system. Julie Angel describes her multifaceted approach to movement, breath–work, and life as 'everything everywhere all at once,' revealing a seamless blend of creativity, transformation, and minimalism in her practices. "I'm really lazy. I'm a high performance slacker. And so it has to be simple and minimalist in doing it. If there's any practice where it's like: You need to buy all of this equipment, and you need to do all of these things, and you need a membership… I'm just like, no no that'll be a no. All of those things cause friction points for me, and I don't do them. So I mean there's a minimalism, a simplicity, a creativity, and an adaptability; which is why to other people it may seem very different that I I wear all these these hats which I'm equally multi-passionate about. But for me I'm like, same same. [ed: It's all the same.]" ~ Julie Angel, 2:50 Julie Angel and Craig dive into the worlds of movement, breath-work, and the emotional landscape of physical practice. The Parkour Mindset This episode of Ancestral Health Today is a wide-ranging discussion with Julie Angel about Parkour and other natural movement practices. Julie is a filmmaker, an author and a movement coach. Her movement practice developed out of her early encounter with the Parkour movement in Paris in the early 2000s. For those of you who may not be familiar with Parkour, it involves jumping, leaping, climbing and traversing buildings, walls and railings . It's thrilling to watch, but it takes considerable practice, skill and a lot of nerve.Julie documented the Parkour story in her Ph.D. thesis, and then in several documentary films, and more recently her book, Breaking the Jump. I've put links to several of these in the show notes. And more than document it, Julie was brave and learned Parkour and got certified as a teacher of Parkour, MoveNat, Animal Flow and other natural movement practices. Then Julie developed her own movement practice that emphasizes how ordinary people like you and me can incorporate movement into our lives, and she hosts the Curious Midlife Podcast, helping middle aged women reclaim and increase their strength, agility and confidence.Today we'll get into the history of Parkour and natural movement, but then spend some time learning more about how some of Julies methods, including what she calls Movement Snacks, can help you break out of a sedentary lifestyle, stay limber and boost your confidence. "I did everything wrong for about 48 years of my life… I used to be the guy that could eat anything, I avoided the sun, I drank a pot of coffee every day, and I lived in an environment with cell phone towers and radiation," says John Warner. In this episode of the podcast, host Meredith Oke welcomes guest John Warner to share his personal health journey and the transformative insights he gained along the way. John's story begins with a family history of cancer, including the loss of his father and several aunts and uncles. Faced with the devastating reality that the medical community had no answers, John embarked on a quest to uncover the truth about health and wellness. John's journey started with the typical approach of focusing on food and exercise. He adopted fasting and a healthy diet, which did have some positive effects on his well-being. However, it wasn't until he discovered the importance of sunlight and circadian rhythms that his health truly began to shift. John realized that his family's lack of sun exposure and excessive artificial light exposure may have played a significant role in their cancer diagnoses. With this newfound knowledge, John made intentional changes to his lifestyle. He started watching the sunrise every morning, soaking up the healing rays of sunlight. He also prioritized high-quality sleep and mitigated his exposure to artificial light after sunset. The results were remarkable. John experienced improved sleep, increased energy, and a greater sense of well-being. But the journey didn't end there. In a surprising turn of events, John received a cancer diagnosis himself. However, armed with his newfound understanding of quantum biology and the power of light, he faced the challenge head-on. John opted for surgery to remove the tumor on his kidney, knowing that he had the tools to support his body's healing process. Through his story, John reminds us that our health is not solely determined by our genetics. Environmental factors, such as light exposure and lifestyle choices, play a significant role in our well-being. By embracing the principles of quantum biology and harnessing the power of sunlight and circadian rhythms, we can take control of our health and potentially prevent or overcome serious illnesses. Quotes: "I started digging into blogs, podcast, and I figured out my food was pretty good. I was eating right. But I started eating seasonal and local." (13:30 | John Warner) "I just lay in the sun all day and then I'd get an ice bath. So I'd get in 45, 50 degrees ice a couple of times a day." (22:22 | John Warner) "So I go the next morning, get an MRI. And I have a tumor on my right kidney, about a six month tumor." (00:30:55 | John Warner) I'm cancer free. I still get in the sun all the time. Now, I'm human. There's days where I I'm busy. I've slowed down since I've had surgery. So I can spend more time in the sun. See, a lot of people don't want to change their paradigm or their, how they live. They just want to keep doing the same thing, you know, and I, you can't get sick, can't get well in the same environment you got sick in. And you can't get well, keep doing the same thing that got you sick. You have to be able to change. And so I've even changed my work and my schedule so I can be outside more, so I can be with my family more, so I can be in a nice bath more. I don't have to travel as much and drive around as much. So you just, you have to be willing to change. And most people aren't willing to change nowadays. They're just doing the same old thing. (51:12 | John Warner) “Science is very complex. Imagine if one simple practice could unlock the power of your mind, enhance your physical health, and guide you toward greater mindfulness. We've all heard about the benefits of meditation, but how about the untapped potential of breath-holding? Erwan Le Corre, the founder of MovNat and a record-holding expert in breath-hold work, shares his journey from France to the US and reveals how breath-holding can redefine the boundaries of our mental and physical capabilities.Looking into the fascinating world of physiological adaptations and our body's innate response to perceived threats, one can wonder how angiogenesis or increased red blood cell production can make us more resilient and capable. Erwan walks us through these processes, highlighting the importance of CO2 tolerance for oxygen replenishment. Challenging conventional wisdom, we also discuss the role of oxygen, not CO2, in triggering the urge to breathe, and examine the body's remarkable ability to handle high levels of CO2.But breath-holding isn't just about physical endurance; it's also a powerful tool for mental training. As Erwan guides us through the emotional changes that occur during breath-holding, he emphasizes how breath-holding can enhance our mindfulness, promote slow breathing, and even foster a deeper understanding of the soul. Dipping into the realm of intuition through meditation, we discuss the untapped potential within our brains and how breath-holding can help us access it. Tune in, take a deep breath, and prepare to challenge your limits!Get to know our guestWith a passion for reawakening our innate physical capabilities, Erwan has made a significant impact on the world of health and fitness. "If your biology isn't taken care of, you can't live optimally. You cannot have the highest quality of life possible." - Erwan Le Corre In his decades long exploration of natural physical movement, Erwan Le Corre, the founder of MovNat, has pioneered trends in physical conditioning and taught people all over the world how to move outdoors naturally, reclaim their vitality and become strong and vibrant. In this episode, Meredith Oke and Erwan dive into Erwan's wilderness wisdom and discuss the transformative power of natural outdoor movement. Think back to our childhood movements – crawling, rolling, climbing, and hanging. Our bodies inherently knew how to navigate the world. Erwan and Meredith address these foundational natural movements, often overshadowed in modern fitness routines, emphasizing their importance not just for physical freedom but for holistic health. They also explore the physical and spiritual aspects of breath-hold work, practices Erwan believes can fortify our bodies and minds, fostering resilience, calm, and well-being. Erwan's approach isn't just about movement and breathwork; it's a whole-life philosophy of physical, mental, and spiritual connectedness and intention. He calls us outdoors, advocating for a connection with nature, the magic of fresh air, and the therapeutic benefits of natural light. He advocates for deep reflection over quick solutions and encourages a commitment to self-awareness so that self-care can follow. As we declutter our lives of junk and distractions and realign with what is truly fulfilling to us, energy, vitality, and overall life satisfaction become more available. Quotes: “When you talk about the natural movement of animals, they're obviously outside all the time. And humans evolved doing these movements outside. So we are limiting ourselves in this, both in the scope of our movement and in the inputs that we're getting by doing those limited movements inside in an artificial environment without all the inputs of nature.” (11:22 | Meredith Oke) “But if your biology isn't taken care of, you can't live optimally. You cannot have the highest quality of life possible. And so what is biology is to understand energies, frequencies, movement, influences, everything that can affect how you feel, how your energy system is expressed, or is nourished, or is nurtured. These are not just some pretty words. It's very important. Sleep, sun, earth, movement, food, relationship to others, mental life, emotional life, spiritual life, all of that all together. Everything needs to be taken care of and to connect and to be aligned." (12:22 | Erwan Le Corre) “Find what's deeply satisfying. And typically what's deeply satisfying is really healthy. That it is a connection with nature. A connection with loved ones. A connection with the spirit that is everywhere within us, around us, above us. That is God. Realize the profoundness of life. And don't settle for less." (28:52 | Erwan Le Corre) “You're not supposed to be indoors all day. You're not supposed to be sitting all day. You're not supposed to feed yourself with junk all day. You're not supposed to put that junk in your body. You're not supposed to put that junk in your mind. You're not supposed to deal with that junk. There's junk everywhere. It's toxic. Just clean that up.” (32:58 | Erwan Le Corre) Links Connect with Erwan Le Correre: Natural Movement Training: movnat.com Breath Hold Work: https://www.breathholdwork.com/ IG / Twitter: @erwanlecorre To find a practitioner who understand the health principles of quantum biology: www.quantumbiologycollective.org To become a QBC member and get invites to live deep dives & access to our video library: www.quantumhealthtv.com To take our 8 week practitioner certification in the science of quantum biology so that you can add it to your existing area of expertise: www.appliedquantumbiology.com Follow on Twitter, Instagram & Facebook: @quantumhealthtv Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

While a 5-10 minute breath practice may be something that you're already implementing into your daily life, there's a decent chance you're not paying as much attention as you SHOULD be to your reflexive breathing for the remaining 23+ hours of the day… The efficiency with which you breathe regularly and habitually is a huge determinant in your stress, performance, and overall health. It's also my belief that breath is the #1 opportunity for performance enhancement that MOST people miss out on. When used correctly, the breath becomes a masterful tool to regulate our nervous system, our physiology, and our consciousness. Today's guest, Erwan le Corre, is a US static breathing national record holder, and the founder of the BreathHoldWork and MovNat systems.

Today's guest is someone who I have wanted to talk to for many years. I first came across him around 10 years ago and was fascinated by his approach to movement and, in particular, natural movement.Erwan Le Corre is the founder of MovNat, a school of physical competency entirely based on natural movement. Since 2008, it has quickly spread globally, with certification courses, weekend retreats and instructors all over the world. One of Erwan's core philosophies is that many of us have become 'zoo-humans' and as a result, we are suffering physically, mentally, and spiritually. In his ground-breaking book, The Practice of Natural Movement: Reclaim Power, Health and Freedom, Erwan outlines a simple process to help us all get back to who we are meant to be.As humans, we are incredibly physically versatile. We can walk, run, sit, stand, jump, swim, dive, throw, catch, climb and more. But how many of these movements do we typically do daily? Why have we become removed from these intrinsic, functional capabilities? And does going to the gym or lifting a few weights at home, really compensate enough?Erwan currently holds the US National Record in STA (static apnea) with a 7 minute and 8 second breath hold. Over the past few years, he has been researching, experimenting with and developing his own breath-work practice, now named BreathHoldWork meditation. He launched his method online and I completed the course. It was one of the best courses I have ever done and it really has had a transformative effect on me. So much so, that what I learned has found its way into my daily morning routine. At the start of the course, I could only hold my breath for about 1 minute. Within 4 weeks, I increased that to 4 minutes and 20 seconds! It was not because my body had adapted physiologically, it is because he taught me how to harness the power of my mind.Erwan's technique is completely different from The Wim Hof Method. In Erwan's method there is no hyperventilation, which in his opinion means you can gain deeper insights, achieve greater calm and more quickly access a state of inner peace. By learning how to quieten your mind and nervous system, when your body is begging you to breathe, you learn something quite profound about yourself - and it is a skill that transfers into other parts of your life. If you can stay calm in this kind of environment, most things in life afterward appear relatively easy in comparison. This was a really enjoyable conversation, about inspiring you to rediscover who you really are - an innately capable and resilient human. I hope you enjoy listening.Enjoy Ad-Free episodes. Apple Podcasts https://apple.co/feelbetterlivemore. Today's guest is Erwan Le Corre. Erwan is many things, including the founder of MovNat ~ which is a synthesis of his passion for physical competency with his love of movement in nature. More recently, Erwan also became a US national static breath hold record holder. In this conversation, we talk about what he describes as the challenges of 'Hamster fitness' & movement poverty predicament and some of his ideas for what he describes quite brilliantly as Human Zoo counter-measures. We also dive into (pun not intended) some of the benefits of practising breath-holding, increasing your CO2 tolerance ~ and how he can hold his breath for over 8 minutes.
Ryn says: We've got another replay for you this week, and it's one of my personal favorites. (It also happens to be from right around the last time we moved!) It's episode 95 from 10/5/2019, and it's an episode we made right after I attended the MovNat Level 3 certification challenge. It was a 4-day course/test/immersion in natural movement. It was quite the challenge! We ran three miles barefoot on complex terrain, we jumped 9' across rocky chasms, we picked each other up and carried each other up the hill & down the trail, we hefted logs and traversed ropes, we held our breath in icy streams... it was great, and it was HARD. :) In this episode, we talk about all the herbs I took to prepare beforehand, and the ones I brought along to help me get through. If you want to work with herbs for physical challenges in your own life – whether that's an intense sporting event, or a job or lifestyle that's physically demanding – these might help you, too!Oh, one last note: In the episode you'll hear me mention a few challenges I didn't master during the event. I had to improve my skills, complete the challenges, video them, and send them in. Well, it took me two years (minus two days) to finish all my challenges, but I did it! I'm really looking forward to offering more hybrid movement x herbalism events in 2023 and beyond. Bringing these areas of holistic health and natural movement together is my happy place, and I want to share that with you. If you're on our mailing list, you'll hear about these events as soon as I've got them planned! Most of us, even if we're very active, are not moving our bodies the way nature designed them to move. We exercise plenty. We also sit plenty. We wear shoes that don't help keep our feet strong or our posture properly aligned. That can set the stage for aches, pains, and injuries, especially during this time of life when our joints are more vulnerable. This week we talk with movement coach Petra Fisher about the small daily adjustments we can make and exercises we can do to enhance mobility, decrease pain, and improve performance. Petra is a movement coach, body nerd and recovering lawyer. She is certified in Restorative Exercise, MovNat and Functional Range Conditioning. Petra's mission in life is to help women reconnect with their bodies so they have less pain, more joy & get to do more of what they love for the rest of their lives. Michael Ostrolenk has been exploring the relationship between post-conventional living, transformational leadership, optimising health and regenerative paradigms his whole life. His interest in human growth and personal development began when he was 9 years old and worked with psychotherapist Pat Lawson learning biofeedback, meditation and guided imagery. The fact that Michael started his journey so young really intrigued me! So, while we will have him on again as a guest to explore the myriad of ways his expertise can help his clients, today's focus is on the adversity and disability Michael experienced as a child. “Our mess is so often our message” in that it can break us or make us -– and it can be the catalyst for a lifetime of learning and helping others as in Michael's case. Talking points: How his learning disability then led to other mental and emotional challenges like obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) The importance of self-advocacy, even as a child The importance of parental support and listening to the child How “unconventional” solutions like biofeedback, meditation, and martial arts saved him The danger of labelling children with diagnoses rather than seeing them as whole people with needs due to underlying concerns The danger of treating all learning disabilities with a one-size-fits-all approach How he was originally “diagnosed” with being lazy since he really was brilliant in many areas even though his academic performance was low in others How there may be underlying issues like an undiagnosed traumatic brain injury (TBI) that are misdiagnosed if recognized at all That someone diagnosed with a learning disability may actually be neurodivergent and a genius, where they simply think differently. In August 2021, Erwan became a U.S. National Record Holder in the static breath holding (STA) discipline of freediving. He held his breath for 6 minutes and 46 seconds, breaking the previous record set by someone much younger than him by 44 seconds. Erwan says, “I have to credit my MovNat background and 3 decades of Natural Movement lifestyle for having the experience and health necessary to keep growing and performing at this level. I intend to break this record soon. My goal is to keep inspiring people to live a healthy life.” Check out his website: https://www.movnat.com/movnat-team/erwan-le-corre/ Follow REAL MAN: https://realmanseries.com/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCn8m52_BDR0l0Zwv0pHrl-A
