On August 9, 1969, the headlines across the country mourned the loss of 26-year-old and 8 ½ months pregnant actress Sharon Tate and four others at her estate at 10050 Cielo drive in Beverly Hills - Jay Sebring, Wojciech Frykowski, Abigail Folger, and Steven Parent. Dominick Dunne recalls that “The shock waves that went through the town were beyond anything I had ever seen before. People were convinced that the rich and famous of the community were in peril. Children were sent out of town. Guards were hired.”This was only a tiny piece of the Helter Skelter plan that Charles Manson had formed based on the race war he believed was coming. 5 months pregnant Kristine Kupka left a phone message for her sister Kathy on October 24, 1998. In the call she said that she was going out with the father of her baby Darshanand Persaud - better known as Rudy - to help clean his new apartment and would be back later. She never called back. One of Kristine's roommates alerted the Kupka family that Kristine never returned home. When questioned, Rudy said that he picked Kristine up to take her to a nearby shopping mall. Rudy told the family members that he drove her to the shopping center, then waited in his car for her to return from shopping. Rudy claimed that he dropped Kristine off two blocks from her home between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m., as she wanted to walk to a nearby health food store. When Kristine's family asked him which shopping mall he had taken her to, he said he did not know and he had stayed in the car while she shopped.Kristine has never been found. If you have information about Kristine Kupka and/or Darshanand "Rudy" Persaud Please Contact K.Kupka172 Fifth Avenue, Box 230Brooklyn, NY 11217or call: Detective Delassandro: 718-834-4580 1-800 577-TIPS info@kristinekupka.comSupport the show (https://www.patreon.com/truecrimeandchillpod)

People used to make fun of him for his name. Can you Imagine being tormented for your name every day? You walk down the street, and people mimic a sneeze or pretend to chew on something. It was no surprise when Chief Justice Samuel Chew died in 1743 that he started haunting the local townspeople. Then, what they did to quiet his ghost was unexpected. Correction Note: Mr. Chew was NOT a Doctor. I (Amber) called him a doctor repeatedly throughout the recording without any explanation. It wasn't written in the script as a doctor, nor did any of the research yield he was a doctor.
In 2012, the quiet small town of Evansdale, Iowa became the site of a gut-wrenching double homicide. In July of that year, cousins Elizabeth Collins (8) and Lyric Cook-Morrisey (10) were out for a summer bike ride but didn't return home. 5 months later their bodies were found more than 20 miles away from where they were last seen. Sharon Marshall was a high school girl whose life seemed too good to be true. She had an incredible opportunity, and she never even ended up using it! A teenager with everything going for her? It sounds like something from a dream - until you hear how this story ends, of course.
Somehow, it seems appropriate right now to discuss Connecticut - with the first signs of fall beginning to appear. Connecticut had a list of urban legends to pick from. Old graveyards, Gravity Hill, the Winsted Wildman, Hannah Cranna or “The Wicked Witch of Monroe,” and Downs Road, which used to connect Bethany to Hamden, is now just an unpaved gated road in the woods.None of these quite seemed to stand out to me the same way Dudleytown did - the supposed village of the damned. In this episode, I'll lay out the facts and you can make up your mind yourself.#UrbanLegends #Connecticut #Dudleytown
In 1995, George Morgan was working on his 45-year sentence for a series of crimes including rape in Jefferson City, Missouri. He decided to research his family's history and genealogy and requested a copy of his little sister's death certificate. Michele died on August 10, 1961, at just 4 years old. The cause of death was listed as viral pneumonia and also had a date of January 29, 1976. George knew this to be untrue as he remembered the events of the evening of August 9, 1961, and decided to write to the funeral home to let them know that the certificate was incorrect. In his August 21st letter, he says that the findings were incorrect. He said that when he was 8 1/2 years old, his sister was murdered and he watched it happen.Child abuse is real and although child abuse may not always lead to serious physical injury, it often results in serious emotional harm and may have long-lasting effects. In May of 1947, when Ronald Barrie's cabin caught fire in Severn Falls, Ontario, with newly-married John Kettlewell inside, Ronald pulled him from the quickly burning building to find John with a head wound and drugs in his system. Questions were raised. Especially when John's 8-day bride was found drowned 150 feet away in only 9 inches of water. Some people believe that the crimes happened because of a "strange accident." Others think it may have been a planned event. No one knows what really went down, but there are many theories as to why these things might have occurred. Some say they were committed in the name of insane passion while others argue premeditated fraud was behind them all. Listen to this week's episode and decide for yourself.

In 2012, Joshua killed himself and their two young sons Charles and Braden in a planned and deliberate explosion.Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/truecrimeandchillpod)

The Titanic is one of the most famous ships that ever sank in recorded history. It was also the biggest and most expensive liner built in its time. Its building took two years, and over three thousand people had to work all day and night to finish it on time for its maiden voyage on April 10, 1912, from Southampton to New York City. The Titanic sank during her maiden voyage in 1912 after hitting an iceberg which caused its hull to open up and cause water to rush inside until the titanic finally disappeared forever into the Atlantic Ocean. We all know about how terrible the Titanic disaster was, but what many don't know about is how many crimes and injustices were made to get it to that point in the first place. Not only that, but the sheer amount of coincidences that led to the final disaster is uncanny. The Titanic's terrible sinking cost over 1500 people their lives. To this day, the Titanic is considered one of history's worst man-made disasters.
In December of 1971, the bodies of the List Family were found shot to death in their home in the suburbs of New Jersey. However, the man responsible wouldn't be found for over 18 years.

In the second part of our season finale, Amber and Alex tell the stories of Tina Priest and Kamisha Block - two more mysterious deaths that appear to have coverups. Tina Priest, a 5-foot-tall petite 20-year-old Army Private, First Class, accused a fellow soldier of sexually assaulting her. Two weeks after reporting, Tina Priest was found dead in her room from an M-16 gunshot wound to her chest. The army ruled it as suicide - saying she shot herself using her toe.Kamisha Block's family was told that Kamisha was killed by friendly fire - a single gunshot wound to her chest in Iraq. When the casket arrived, the family discovered Kamisha was shot 5 times including once in the head. Hear their stories and decide for yourself - why are there so many deaths (not just these) that are being swept under the rug?Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/truecrimeandchillpod)
In 2005, LaVena Johnson was murdered 8 weeks into her first deployment. The Army tried to rule it as a suicide but the proof said otherwise. 15 years later, another young soldier, Vanessa Guillen, was brutally murdered and the Army hasn't treated it how it should. What did both of these women have in common? The fact that they were sexually assaulted/harassed and either already reported it or were in the process of reporting it. Part 1 of our season 2 finale talks about how the military closes ranks and refuses to take sexual assault in the military seriously.

The Allen House in Montecillo, Arkansas It’s claimed to be the most haunted house in the state and based on evidence that was found by paranormal investigators, and every group that has gone through to research has found something - even just EVPs. In 1948, the middle daughter of Joe Allen, Ladell Allen Bonner, drank mercury cyanide at her mother's Christmas Party and died a week later. It wasn't until the current owners uncovered some letters in the attic under the floorboards in 2009 that the secrets were finally revealed.Paranormal investigators continue to research the ongoings at the Allen house. Some of the findings, sightings, and recordings appear to be residual - but many of them appear to be full and complete hauntings full of awareness and consciousness. Have you ever been there and had an experience? Would you go there, knowing you probably would? Would you knowingly continue to live there, being aware that you aren’t the only residents?Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/truecrimeandchillpod)

26-year-old single mother Amanda Jones who was also 8 ½ months pregnant disappeared, and to anyone who knew her, it didn’t seem right. She disappeared from Hillsboro, Missouri on August 14, 2005 after meeting with the soon-to-be father of her baby. With a lack of evidence and cooperation, the police are unable to do anything besides continue their search and hope somebody comes forward with important information. Until then, the family will continue to wait for answers. If you were present at the Civic Center on August 14, 2005, you might be the missing link and should reach out to local law enforcement. Even something you don’t think is important could be the information that breaks the case. 16 years is way too long for anyone to have to wait for answers. Unfortunately, it seems all too common in some of the cases we bring to you: from Karen Bodine to the Jeff Davis 8, and now Amanda Jones. Why isn’t anyone coming forward?Did Amanda decide to start over and build herself back up from nothing, leaving her daughter behind? Or is something more sinister at play?Do you know what happened to Amanda Jones?
When bad things happen, it’s easiest to point the blame at others. The death of Karen Bodine was a tragedy that happened at the hands of another person. However, her case - while labeled as suspicious - was not at first given the attention it deserved. Karen was many things: a girlfriend, a daughter, and a mother. Because of her on-again and off-again relationship with drugs, when Karen’s body was found posed naked with mysterious ligature marks, she wasn’t given much consideration other than being labeled a transient.Today, her family still seeks answers. They know someone out there knows something. Is that someone you?
This week, an urban legend came to our attention that has spanned history for many years across multiple countries and cultures - and circulates around what would be considered a true crime case today. This week, we discuss the legend of La Llorona - the weeping woman.

The stories are varied and have changed over the years. Who isn't telling the whole story? Let's present the evidence and you can make up your own mind.

June of 1987, Sara Saganitso was a housekeeper at the Flagstaff Medical Center in Arizona. She was 40 years old and a member of the Navajo tribe. She was working her first late shift. The next morning, her family became worried when she didn't come home. They went to the medical center, and that's when they found the body of a woman behind the medical center. Her face was so bruised, she was almost unrecognizable, but they knew that it was Sarah. Her torso had numerous stab wounds, and her left breast appeared to have been bitten off. The only evidence was a broken stick oddly left on her neck, as well as a clump of grass from a graveyard in the distance found near her car. Who or what would've done such a thing?
