Iedereen bleef in verwarring achter. On today's show I'm coming to you live from Anchorage Alaska. Based on the most recent data available, the rental vacancy rate in the Municipality of Anchorage was 4.6% in 2024. This indicates a relatively tight rental market, although it's a slight increase from some of the historically low rates seen in recent years. The recent population decline can be linked to a long-running economic recession in Alaska, which began in 2015. This recession was largely a result of falling oil prices, which impacted state revenue and led to a slowdown in economic activity. As a result, Anchorage lost jobs and people, and its employment levels have yet to recover to pre-2015 peaks.-----------**Real Estate Espresso Podcast:** Spotify: [The Real Estate Espresso Podcast](https://open.spotify.com/show/3GvtwRmTq4r3es8cbw8jW0?si=c75ea506a6694ef1) iTunes: [The Real Estate Espresso Podcast](https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-real-estate-espresso-podcast/id1340482613) Website: [www.victorjm.com](http://www.victorjm.com) LinkedIn: [Victor Menasce](http://www.linkedin.com/in/vmenasce) YouTube: [The Real Estate Espresso Podcast](http://www.youtube.com/@victorjmenasce6734) Facebook: [www.facebook.com/realestateespresso](http://www.facebook.com/realestateespresso) Email: [podcast@victorjm.com](mailto:podcast@victorjm.com) **Y Street Capital:** Website: [www.ystreetcapital.com](http://www.ystreetcapital.com) Facebook: [www.facebook.com/YStreetCapital](https://www.facebook.com/YStreetCapital) Instagram: [@ystreetcapital](http://www.instagram.com/ystreetcapital)

JOIN SHERI HORN HASAN @ FOR THIS WEEK'S ASTROLOGICALLY SPEAKING PODCAST WHICH DROPS AUGUST 15 @ https://www.karmicevolution.com/astrologically-speaking. This week we explore the true meaning of this month's lunar cycle from the July 24 Leo New Moon opposite Pluto in Aquarius, which asked us to plant seeds to better understand we're each here to evolve into the solar, creative, unique, individual we came here to be. And not to be intimidated out of that quest through manipulative coercive disempowerment tactics by the powers that be.So we knew from the beginning of this current monthly lunar cycle that it wasn't going to be without its struggles to maintain our individuality against those in power. It's important to remember that the Leo archetype is about not hiding one's light under a bushel, so that one can ultimately contribute one's unique creativity to the group for the purpose of the betterment of humanity. It's also important to understand that this month's lunation was accompanied by the beginning of the long-term trine of Uranus in Gemini to Pluto in Aquarius. And that this airy trine aspect in the sky makes its presence felt from now until the fall of 2028—aside from some brief times when it loosens a bit during that period. And that means that what we're experiencing during this period is a slow evolutionary process accompanied by many “aha!” type moments. We'll also see Uranus retrograde back into 29-degrees Taurus--known as the Pleiades point, associated with blindness—by November 7, though he'll still then maintain an out of sign trine with Pluto in Aquarius. So, Uranian revelations may well include suddenly learning where we've been blinded to what's really been happening as part of Pluto in Aquarius's evolutionary process to empower us all as individuals who stand together. America was built on the “E pluribus unim” motto, which means “out of many, one,” adopted at the signing of America's Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. When the Scorpio Moon squared the Leo Sun August 1 at the waxing first quarter “crisis in action”—which was accompanied by Venus's square to Saturn & Neptune & her quincunx to Pluto—we witnessed the beginning of our understanding that we the people were being manipulated. That's because this is when Donald Trump fired the U.S. Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics that day based on his dislike of the real unemployment numbers he then sought to fabricate into different, better sounding numbers. He also terminated the head of the Internal Revenue Service, again an indication of trying to control numbers, in line with the fact that Mars in Virgo was conjunct the transiting Virgo South Node at the Leo New Moon. After that, the August 9 Aquarius Full Moon square to Juno & Vesta in Scorpio asked us to release any tendencies toward Leo's shadow side. And that meant letting go of any selfish tendencies to disregard the specialness of each individual soul by lumping them together into a group of undesirables. By that time, Trump had re-imposed higher tariffs on 90 different "partner" countries, though by August 11--as Mercury stationed direct again in Leo & Ceres stationed retrograde in Aries (square to the Venus/Jupiter conjunction in Cancer)—he delayed tariffs on China. In other words, he TACO'd out, again…Many reputable financiers & economists predict a rise in the already high prices of imported goods—particularly at the grocery store & via automobile sales, etc. It's clear now that tariffs hurt American consumers as much if not more than foreign producers in the form of increased costs/prices across the board. Now, this week's third quarter “crisis in consciousness” stubborn Taurus Moon, in tension with the monarchical tendencies of the Leo Sun, asks us during the waning portion of this month's lunar cycle to stand our ground against the powers that be that try to define us as “less than.”What we see now on the ground in places like Washington, D.C., as federal troops & the FBI first joined--but now try to supersede the authority of--the local police there, is people beginning to protest against the authoritarian takeover of the U.S. capitol.Going back to the initial message & meaning of this month's lunar cycle since the July 24 Leo New Moon opposite Pluto in Aquarius, we can see now at this waning third-quarter square that we're asked to stand our ground as a wannabe tyrant tries to manipulate & control us all. The want us to believe that resistance in futile, but American history tells us otherwise. The presence of federal troops in U.S. cities reminds us of the time when British monarchy demanded that colonists house British troops in their homes. Known as the Quartering Act of 1774, this became of the Intolerable Acts which helped light the fuse that fueled colonial resentment towards British rule which ultimately contributed to the growing tensions that led to the American Revolution. Hence, the "invasion" of illegal immigrants Trump has used as an excuse to federalize our local police by taking over our cities is actually a federal invasion of citizens' local & state rights as the national government flood cities with federal troops, the FBI, & Immigration & Customs Enforcement's gestapo-like henchmen. In other astro-news, we have also today's "crisis in consciousness" third-quarter lunar square's summit in Anchorage Alaska between Trump & Russia's dictator, Vladimir Putin. Given the astro-energies at play, it seems likely that Putin--who already believes he has the upper hand in any peace talk negotiations--will stand his ground, thus continuing to disempower Zelensky's Ukraine. And given the fawning relationship of Trump to Putin, it's highly likely that Trump will once again flip-flop to turn against Ukraine, especially since the Moon will enter Gemini & conjoin Uranus there on August 16. Perhaps then Trump will drop his quest to be nominated for a Nobel Peace prize for his efforts to bring peace to Ukraine. There you have the shadow side of the Leo archetype in a nutshell...Next week, we see the arrival, late on August 22 or early August 23 depending on your time zone, of the Virgo New Moon at 0'23” Virgo. This lunation, following the Leo New Moon opposite Pluto's monthly lunar cycle, continues our quest to honor the “E pluribus unim—out of many, one” U.S. motto into the future. As the longer term Uranus/Pluto trine evolves us back into a nation of individuals who understand that there's safety in numbers, the Virgo New Moon asks us to plant seeds of better self-care. Why? So that we can then better be of service to our fellow humans beings who may be even more in need of our help as we continue to stand our ground against the tyrannical powers that be. Tune in for all this—including a deeper dive into the meaning of Uranus/Pluto trine, the definitions of Juno & Vesta, a look at Ceres retrograde--& more @ https://www.karmicevolution.com/astrologically-speaking starting today, August 15!See you later, namaste…

It's Founder Friday! I am very happy to welcome to the show the founders of Goldies Coffee Roasters Kristen Redfield and Jenna Currier! Kristen Redfield is a life-long Alaskan growing up in North Kenai, Alaska. In 2010 she began her coffee career as a barista just before graduating from the University of Alaska Anchorage with a Bachelors of Art in Art. In 2013 she co-founded Goldie's Coffee Roasters in Anchorage with her sister Jenna and in 2018 they started their roastery. Outside of coffee Kristen loves being a mother- raising their two children with her husband Dan. They spend their free time hiking, camping and taking advantage of all Alaska has to offer. Kristen also helps her husband run their nonprofit program Adventure for Ava in memory of their late daughter Ava Rose. Jenna Currier is a born and raised Alaskan. She is a wife, sister, entrepreneur and an award-winning coffee roaster. When she's not actively running a small business, Jenna enjoys traveling with her husband Tyler and taking advantage of Alaska's beautiful summers hiking with their two dogs, fishing, camping and spending time with family. Jenna Currier has been a part of the coffee industry since 2008, working as a barista through college until she graduated with the Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from the University of Alaska Anchorage. In 2013, she and Kristen seized the opportunity to turn their shared passion into a reality by opening their own drive thru cafe. Fueled for a love of great coffee and community, Goldies was born. For the last 12 years, Kristen and Jenna have been busy growing a small business, sourcing specialty coffee and serving freshly roasted beans in Anchorage. The search for a consistent coffee blend that would hold up in a milk based beverage ultimately led to roasting their own coffee in summer 2018. Just after a year of learning how to source, ship and roast speciality coffee, they entered their first Golden Bean Roasting Competition in Nashville, coming home with medals in multiple categories. Kristen and Jenna continue to attend industry events both nationally and at the local level. They recognize that there is always something new to learn and bring back to serve their community. They share a love for specialty coffee and exceptional customer service, and they strive to ensure every customer experiences both with each visit. Goldie's Coffee Roasters operates from a single location with a dedicated team of six staff members who work together to create a positive, welcoming, and fun environment. We get the whole story in this interview along with great insights into staffing, hospitality, drive-thru service, designing offerings for customer preference, leadership and much more! Send us a text Alaska State Senator Matt Claman first laid eyes on Alaska while working as a cook for a mining company the summer before his senior year of college. After law school, he made his way back to Alaska settling in Anchorage. In the mid 2000s he was elected to the Anchorage Assembly and was elevated to Chair at the start of his second year. This meant that when Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich was elected US Senator, Matt Claman as the Assembly Chair assumed the role of acting mayor. This happened just after the 2008 fiscal crisis. Mayor Claman was forced to make difficult decisions that hurt him politically, but that he stands by today. In 2014 he was elected to the Alaska State House representing West Anchorage, and in 2022 he was elected to the Alaska State Senate where he serves as chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Marco is a University of Nebraska College of Law graduate and currently works as the Owner of Brown Family Law. This episode with Marco is full of amazing insights, and a ton of philosophical wisdom about work, life, and the Law! Marco and I start years before arriving at Law School. He would start at the University of Anchorage Alaska, and then head off to BYU, first majoring in Physics, then deciding to change to a psychology major, following in his grandmother's footsteps. With a degree in psychology, Marco would take 2 years would serve a mission for his church in Italy, as well as work with intellectually impaired individuals. Being too combative to be a psychologist, he decided Law School would be the next step in his journey. Marco and I would speak about his first year in Law School in which he described it as Learning to read Chinese, while writing a manual, in Chinese. He handled it gracefully with a firehouse of information and loved it immensely. We then went into the various internships and clerkships he had. Marco would key in on the fact that he wanted to be a criminal defense attorney but was not great at it, allowing him to narrow it down from his options. He suggests that Law Students try a wide range of experiences, and get good at what they enjoy. On top of going through his journey of Law School, Marco would give some of his critiques of Law School. We then moved to Marco hanging his shingle, opening up Brown Law LLC. Marco would describe the first years as walking blind through hell. Marco would describe the story of how he got into divorce law and spoke about the importance of reinventing yourself and solving those big problems, that lead to the solutions of 100s of small problems, or what he calls, an apex problem. Finally, Marco and I spoke about his love for Kafka, as well as his love for Pizza, one of the reasons why we know god loves us. Alaska Police Career Talking to and Arresting Serial Killers. His career as a Police Officer in Anchorage Alaska led to his assignment to the Hostage Negotiation team. In addition to his police experiences in Alaska he was a lead negotiator which brought him face to face with serial killers. He was able to successfully negotiate the surrender of two serial killers. He talks about all of that and more. Follow the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and most all social media platforms. Doug Fifer is our guest. He is a retired Alaskan police officer who specialized in crime scene analysis, deviant sexual crimes, hostage negotiations, and various special assignments throughout his twenty-five-year career. He started in law enforcement with the Anchorage Police Department in 1996 and retired in 2021. Alaska Police Career Talking to and Arresting Serial Killers. The interview with him is available as a free podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, our website or most major podcast platforms. In a career that spanned over 25 years with the Anchorage Police Department, retired officer Doug Fifer found himself at the forefront of Alaska's most complex and chilling criminal cases. Assigned to the Hostage Negotiation team, Doug encountered some of the most dangerous individuals in the state, including serial killers. Known for his adept negotiation skills, he successfully convinced two notorious serial killers to surrender, an experience he openly talks about in this interview which is available as a free podcast on our website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify and most major podcast platforms. Doug Fifer's story is not just about his police career in Anchorage, Alaska, but also about his deep connection to his Alaskan roots. Born in Homer, Alaska, his family hails from the Ketchikan area. He is Tlingit Indian and heavily connected to his Alaska Native culture and heritage. Together with his wife, they raised their children in Anchorage, immersed in the outdoor lifestyle typical of Alaskans, from fishing and hiking to snowboarding with their family dog, Malbec. In 2007, Doug and Kim also launched a wine business in Anchorage, blending their love for the outdoors with a passion for fine wine. Alaska Police Career Talking to and Arresting Serial Killers. Be sure to follow the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Newsbreak and Medium and numerous other social media platforms. Throughout his career, Doug specialized in crime scene analysis, deviant sexual crimes, and special assignments that often brought him face-to-face with criminals whose actions shocked even the most seasoned officers. His extensive experience is chronicled in his new book, Fifty Shades of True Crime: Sex, Drugs, and Killer Kink. This isn't a typical true crime book; it's a raw, unfiltered dive into the darkest aspects of human behavior. Doug takes readers on a journey into the twisted minds of criminals whose actions are as terrifying as they are bizarre. Doug shares his philosophy on handling the stress of law enforcement, stating, “Humor plays a key role in keeping your sanity, not just in law enforcement but life in general.” His writing reflects this outlook, maintaining a balance between the gravity of his experiences and a light-hearted approach to life's challenges. Alaska Police Career Talking to and Arresting Serial Killers. One of the most notorious cases Doug was involved in was that of Joshua Alan Wade, an Alaskan serial killer convicted of multiple murders. Wade's criminal history is both lengthy and disturbing. Born in 1980, Wade committed his first murder at the age of 14, shooting John Michael Martin, an unemployed schizophrenic, along a bike trail in Anchorage in 1994. Over the years, his violent tendencies escalated. In 2000, Wade brutally murdered Della Brown, an Alaska Native woman, and left her body in an abandoned shed. He continued his killing spree in 2007 by murdering his neighbor, Mindy Schloss, a nurse practitioner, after kidnapping her, robbing her, and ultimately shooting her execution-style in the back of the head. Wade's arrest followed a dramatic police pursuit and negotiation. After his girlfriend and other witnesses identified him in surveillance footage using Schloss's stolen ATM card, Wade went into hiding. When finally cornered, he held hostages at gunpoint before being persuaded to surrender by then Officer Doug Fifer. The case was a stark reminder of the complexities and dangers law enforcement officers like Doug Fifer face every day. Alaska Police Career Talking to and Arresting Serial Killers. Doug also delves into the case of Israel Keyes, another serial killer whose actions shocked the nation. Keyes was responsible for multiple murders across the United States, including Alaska. Arrested in 2012, he confessed to the crimes while awaiting trial. He committed suicide in his cell, leaving behind disturbing clues about his other possible victims. His story adds another layer of darkness to the criminal landscape of Alaska. Listen to the interview is available as a podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, our website and most major podcast Platforms. Doug Fifer's book offers a glimpse into these cases and more, revealing the true nature of the crimes and the impact they have on communities. With his firsthand accounts, Doug sheds light on the hidden world of law enforcement, where the reality is often far more twisted than fiction. Alaska Police Career Talking to and Arresting Serial Killers. As Doug Fifer continues to share his experiences with audiences worldwide, he brings attention to the realities of crime in Anchorage and beyond, revealing the courage, humor, and resilience it takes to face some of the darkest moments of humanity. June 19, 2001. Anchorage Alaska. While staying at a motel, 52-year old registered nurse Thomas Nuzzi fails to check out and does not show up for his next scheduled work assignment in the town of Bethel. Six days later, Thomas' abandoned Jeep is found at a remote ski lodge in Chugach State Park, but an extensive search of the area fails to find him. In the days prior to his disappearance, Thomas was seen with an unidentified man and woman. The couple continued to occupy Thomas' motel room after he vanished, but they are never tracked down and it's unclear if they had any involvement in what happened to Thomas. Many of the 500+ SFN Mentor Fathers, who are raising kids with special needs, have said: "I wish there was something like this when we first received our child's diagnosis. I felt so isolated. There was no one within my family, at work, at church or within my friend group who understood or could relate to what I was going through."SFN Mentor Fathers share their experiences with younger dads closer to the beginning of their journey raising a child with the same or similar special needs. The SFN Mentor Fathers do NOT offer legal or medical advice, that is what lawyers and doctors do. They simply share their experiences and how they have made the most of challenging situations.Check out the 21CD YouTube Channel with dozens of videos on topics relevant to dads raising children with special needs - https://www.youtube.com/channe... Uncomfortable Conversations Podcast The Untold Stories of the 3HO Kundalini Yoga Community
Siri Whitecrow, was born Elias Seneca Whitecrow in 1972 in Juneau, Alaska. His mom, Sat guru Kaur, joined 3HO with his older sister, Siri Kaur, in 1976 and his name was changed to Siri Singh Khalsa. His early life was spent between two different ashrams in Anchorage, Alaska, then in 1979 he was sent to Española New Mexico at 7 years old, living with two different families. In 1981 he was sent to the newly (not yet) established India program GNFC, initially being sent to the girls school because he was so young and only in 3rd grade. After four years in India, and tons of horrific abuse, and plenty of righteous resistance, he was kicked out of that school and sent back to the USA. He spent half a year at Amritsar Academy in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he was eventually asked to “not return”. He ended up in Los Angeles, near his mom and close to the ashram, but by 1988 he left 3HO/Sikh Dharma/Kundalini Yoga completely, never looking back. Graffiti became a huge part of his life and currently still is. His Graffiti name is ANGER and he runs one of the biggest graffiti crews in the world which began in 1993 when his life was forever altered when his mentor was hit by a train, and he was shot 4X by a Los Angeles police officer. He currently lives in Los Angeles, is married with two boys and continues to navigate his life through art, and creativity.
