Some say a dove is a symbol of new beginnings like the same dove that brought Noah an olive branch offering a sign that God has prepared a new home for all of humanity. Others would say that being a Christian or member of a denomination who shares a belief in Christ is the key to having eternal life but this is not the case. Eternal life is not something that is a given or something to be entitled about as this is a great honor that God gives to His people through their faith in Christ Jesus without having to see signs, what anything in return or miracles as these are the promises that Christ told his disciples in encouraging of great works than miracles they will do. Have you ever loved someone or decided to get on a ride without even knowing if you will throw up? The answer could be yes or no but if you picked yes this is an act of faith in choosing to love someone not knowing how your future will turn out along with getting on a ride without wondering if you'll get sick. Faith comes by hearing God's word and action comes by faith in God's power not our own. 6 "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."-Hebrews 11:6 Subscribe to Youtube Channel This is video and postcast
For those of us who grew up on sitcoms where we see family dynamics, comedy relief punch lines, and the very reminders that the messiness we try to hide is the very memory that teaches us or becomes our greatest obstacle. But what if we could use understanding as an antidote to building stronger relationships, bonds, and a way to set ourselves free from fighting to please others instead of finding our own SPARK/purpose? This is why having that talk with your parents, relative or friend is important as we live in times of great fear where only together we can overcome. This is video and postcast
Hello My Real Beauties, As human beings, we are equipped with the natural instinct to survive, find our way around obstacles, hunt for food, and subconsciously compare ourselves to one another. Sadly, we are forced to truly see whether we like it or not that the idea of what the best decision or choice looks like is not something that falls from the sky. This is why the last 2-years of no podcasting, blogging, or social media-ing have taught me the importance of how to truly think for myself without the involvement of the outside world. To some, this is considered going zero-dark thirty but to me, this is called being still (opposite of movement). We are pre-conditioned to focus on gaining the approval or permission from the world that we forget to listen to the very voice that matters most (or inner voice where God lives and this voice is stronger/powerful). This is video and postcast
Hello My Real Beauties, As you know with each leap and bound we are all at some point faced with a cross-road on whether to say yes or no to college. I use to be in your shoes and faced the real honest truth about time, age, but most importantly the harsh reality of decisions needing to be made. This is my story and I hope this video helps you to answer the question "Is college really the key to success?" Now is our time to not only come home physically but also spiritually and mentally. Welcoming to the real meaning of a spiritual HOMECOMING
Focus on the issues that surround your system that you are working in: Passion and many people finding it hard to align it with a career that not only offers much financially but also is fulfilling. The potential root causes of the issue: Fear of not being given the opportunities we qualify or have experience in, inequality economically, the pressure of being the head of our households and the common insecurities such as being shy or not feeling like being a go getter is the right way to succeed in life. Primarily the root causes of these issues is how we think, feel, and our own perception of quality living. The current business environment the issue is facing that may make it difficult to correct: Not feeling like they can contribute another of value to the place or work environment the work in. Which is why I created this service that would help people choose the right career in the service industry to pair with their passion. I believe that without passion a fire can be easily distinguished so this is why I wanted to focus on this area as finding a career should be held to the same esteem as the Cinderella slipper. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/myrealbeautifulbrownlife/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/myrealbeautifulbrownlife/support
My name is Aiysha Annah Yaa Ansah. In this episode, we will be discussing the importance of addressing the hidden emotions and psychological effects of not feeling enough or acknowledged. The journey to finding inner peace is more than having mental clarity, it is the spiritual journey of addressing our own personal insecurities. Growing up as the youngest of four children, I know how the feeling of wanting to be seen can take away the focus of understanding your own journey and the reason why you exist. This cycle of emotional torture finally ended when I decided to take a step back and ask myself a valuable question of why do I believe that my life is so horrible that I do not appreciate myself or find it a need to validate who I am instead of focusing on other people's journey. I learned through many life experiences that how you feel about yourself is how you are going to treat others whether they are a stranger, mother, father, child, spouse or friend. We are all connected no matter the DNA or race. Relationships are Universal! In this episode, we will be talking about Natural Hair Styles Vs. Culture Appropriation Hair Styles and how this distinct representation of the African heritage is being used as an accessory to fulfill personal aspirations or another fashion trend. As an Afro-Caribbean girl who currently has natural dreadlocks, I have seen how authentic African styles such as braids, cornrows, and even dreadlocks are being culturally exploited. Different media outlets have referenced cornrows as a new trend, but black women and men have been rocking these styles for decades. Wearing braids have always been an African tradition of representing the identity of tribes and a way to show appreciation for the influence of our ancient ancestors, but somehow along the way, we have forgotten the true meaning of authentic living. This is the real purpose for me doing this podcast episode, to address not only the cultural appropriation of African heritage but also the lack of understanding for those of truly abide within the traditions of Kings and Queens. In this episode, we will be talking about Why Depending on HBCU Schools to Teach You About Black History is a False Stereotype. As a young Afro-Caribbean girl, I know the struggles of going to a school where there is not a lot of diversity in persons and academic subjects. I believe this is the real benefit of attending a historically black college and universities is having an all-around education with a combination of African American studies. However, should this be your only reason for attending an HBCU? I do not attend an HBCU school, however, that does not mean my overall outlook on African American history is not knowledgeable. Nonetheless, for some of us attending an HBCU is another way to learn more about Black History, but should you depend on your education to educate you on your heritage? In this episode, we will be talking about the perception of beauty and what it means to us especially in regards to how we style our hair. This topic may come as a shock since I am a former crochet and box braid wearing girl who eventually got dreadlocks, but I want to reflect on the subtle false perceptions that psychologically affect women. Growing up in a home where natural beauty and hair braiding is celebrated, I learned even then that embracing your beauty no matter the clothes or hairstyles is what truly matters. However, with the rise of natural hair prejudices, many of us feel the need to alter our true hair textures with weaves, perm, and other harmful methods. To be honest, most of the time using these hairstyle methods is for the sake of looking SNATCHED, but then you have the other side of using this opportunity to change one's appearance as a way to mask who we truly are on the inside. This is not the case for everyone but if we don't talk about our reasoning and embracing the natural mane when the protective styles are out then who will? In this episode, we will be talking about how the pressures of racial conformity affect us daily and this same fortified self-perception creates a chain of psychological hatred for one's complete existence. Sadly, this self-perception is very subtle and comes in stages, it could be in how you define beauty regarding yourself and feeling inferior to your counterparts. This is why I am a strong believer in the art of finding beauty through the dirt and tears when life doesn't go our way, this is why loving EXACTLY who God made you to be is the first start to truly loving every part of YOU! In this episode, we will be talking about the harsh reality of racial injustice World Wide, especially in the United States of America. As a young black woman in America, these harsh realities are constant reminders that it's not my language that is dangerous, but the very color of my skin. The harsh reality of being young, gifted, and black in America is the mental, physical, spiritual, and financial oppression from not only members of White Supremacy groups but even from our own race. There is racial injustice in every part of the world, so it's our responsibility to make our voices known and heard louder than a roaring thunder. In this episode, we will be talking about how white privilege creates a lack of maturity for healthy communication. As a society, we have different levels of persons, the upper class, middle class, and the lower class. Theoretically, we have all been at different levels in our lives and face drastic hurdles that the world views as going through hard times. Over the years, I faintly remember the judgemental looks, the coldhearted prejudice undertones and the lack of warmth from individuals of another racial background. As the world continues to evolve and the next generation of children are still culturally detached, but few take the time to truly understand someone else's history, life or upbringing. Ultimately, this character description represents the negative results of enabling bad behavior and how white privilege creates a lack of maturity for healthy communication with every ethnic background. I am not saying that every white individual is racist or using their white privilege to oppress those who they deem unworthy, however, a majority of them are and few take the time to observe how they come off to someone else. White privilege is a subtle behavioral habit and sadly no one is willing to talk about it, but I WILL so we all can grow from being entitled to the right to live! In this episode, we will be talking about the birds and the bees: who first talked to you about sex. This is a discussion that is rarely talked about, instead, it's acted out in our lives, movies, music, and on the internet. Growing up before social media, youtube, and public domains, we had conversations and interacted with more people. As of late, we as people hardly talk to each other intellectually or feel safe to confide in our parents about sex or relationships. To be honest, my mother is the only person who ever talked to me and my siblings about sex when she discerned that I was mentally mature to process this information. Of course, no one is ever prepared to be sexually active, that is why having open dialogs with your parent is so vital for your overall development and the acceptance of your parents with allowing you to ask all of the questions necessary. In this episode, we will be talking about the negatives of not disciplining your kids or teenagers. As a young girl growing up in a single-parent home, I learned the very importance of having respect for human life and my existence. Truthfully, life is like a mirror of the developmental stages of someone's spiritual and mental growth. The hardest thing in life is facing our obstacles, listening to the wise counsel, and turning away from bad habits that will eventually cause harm to us. If you look around, our world is filled with so many different narratives, which influences fear, doubt, and rebellious tendencies especially with the child of my generation. Sadly, some of us want to be and do better, but without adequate guidance, we are left to figure it out for ourselves, no matter if we sink or swim. This is why I wanted to talk about this topic with the hopes of encouraging parents to take more time and have more patience with their kids. In this episode, we will be talking about why prayer should be implemented in parenting a child. Growing up in a single-parent home, my mother always made sure that I and my three other siblings were both physically and spiritually safe. Despite being homeschooled for the majority of my adolescent and teenage life, my mother allowed me to go on a journey of finding myself spiritually despite hearing so many narratives from different churches we visited. On this journey, I discovered the importance of prayer and how it reflected in the way I was parented. Being a single mother of four is not an easy undertaking, so my mother turned to God for strength and direction during moments of confusion and decision making. This is why I wanted to talk about how having a parent who prayed and exercised patience with me during those pivotal stages of my development. I stand here proud of who I am and the journey it took for me to find inner peace. Don’t forget to share, comment and send us your questions so we can address them here on the show. In this episode, we will be talking about the false psychological dangers of the angry black woman stereotype. Growing as a young black woman in America, I have always felt like I had to change myself and alter my way of communicating to make someone else feel comfortable or to be labeled as an angry black woman. Despite changing the volume of my voice, slangs, and finessing the true intentions of my words to avoid offending someone else, still, my voice mattered little or respected. This false stereotype has affected so many black women and men by making them feel like they were only existing, instead of speaking with their God-given authority. Today we say dust to dust to the oppression based on a narrative we forced ourselves to believe. Stand up, for you are a member of a royal lineage and rich heritage of leaders who spoke without any fear. Once you know and remember who you are, you will become the person you are meant to be. In this episode, we will be talking about Is Discrimination A Trigger for Mental Health and Suicidal Issues. This is a topic that many of us shy away from discussing because of the shame and embarrassment of being labeled with a disorder. For years, many of us have suffered in silence because of shame and never cried out for help. As a result, millions of men and women, especially African Americans have taken their own lives or suffer from a mental health issue that drives home the false psychological narratives about oneself. The false perceptions are the hateful words based on what someone else says about you, but little do we know that we give those words power. The power to listen and process information is both a spiritual and physical skill. More so, we use both abilities to give either good or back narratives power over our lives. This is why I created this platform to erase the false perceptions, so you can release yourself from the chains of spiritual and mental slavery from the words of others. In this episode, we will be talking about the lack of emotional intelligence and why this social divide is creating another cultural exodus. All my life, I was taught to respect others and value what each person from another nationality brings to the table, but the lack of understanding of persons taints the true moral of human decency. The words "If You Don't Like It You Leave!" The Go Back to Africa statements and the hateful repercussions of these narratives will not only bring harm to those whom its meant for but also makes the imprint of mental slavery seven inches deeper. I speak now as a young black woman who sees the negative impact of allowing false perceptions to take-over the spiritual identity of our very existence. As a great strong people, we need to STOP focusing on what we know we can't change, instead, let's focus on how we can change the way we think and its only until then that REAL change emerges. In this episode, we will be talking about the REAL cause behind the lack of support for black-owned businesses from African American audiences. As a consumer of holistic products and apparel, over the years, I have seen the success of different European fashion brands who are supported by diverse audiences. However, authentic black-owned grassroots companies who create priceless merchandise but receive little support or appreciation for what they bring to the table. This is why our culture is suffering because of the lack of support for black-owned brands who are trying to rise above the oppression of social prejudices, due to the lack of financial funding. This is why Black People are the cause of their poverty because we are blinded by the glitz and glamour of trying to have a seat at the same table it took our ancestors 400 years to build. This needs to change if we are to advance into the future as strong people who come from a one of a kind heritage. In this episode, we will be talking about a relevant topic and a false stereotypical perception of what is right or wrong. Growing up as a beautiful brown skin girl, I have always noticed the favor or approval of an African American with lighter caramel skin versus the side-eyes of someone with dark skin. This perception has never affected me but I have seen first hand the effects of prejudice words and lack of emotional intelligence has made those around me feel uncomfortable with their skin color. I am not only talking about racist individuals who spew these narratives, but even some members of our own African American race have bought into this narrative and resort to bleaching their skin to be beautiful for society's sake. This has been a topic that I have been waiting to talk about and today it time to rise up from the dangerous cycle of self-hate. In this episode, we will be talking about the lack of care and medical resources for women, especially black women in low-income areas. In the United States, black women are 2 to 6 times more likely to die from complications of pregnancy than white women, depending on where they live (American Medical Association, 1999). Total maternal mortality rates ranged from 1.9 deaths per 100,000 in New Hampshire to 22.8 in the District of Columbia. When data from 1979 to 1992 were analyzed, the overall pregnancy-related mortality ratio was 25.1 deaths per 100,000 for black women, 10.3 for Hispanic women, and 6.0 for non-Hispanic white women (Hopkins et al., 1999). These rates have not improved between 1987 and 1996 (American Medical Association, 1999). The leading causes of maternal death are hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and embolism (Berg, Atrash, Koonin, & Tucker, 1996). Black and nonwhite women have almost 3 times the risk of death from hemorrhage than white women (Chichakli, Atrash, Mackay, Musani, & Berg, 1999). None of these authors can explain the racial differences in maternal mortality rates. However, “quality of prenatal delivery and postpartum care, as well as the interaction between health-seeking behaviors and satisfaction with care may explain part of this difference” (American Medical Association, 1999, p. 1221). The Center for Disease Control (1999), though, points to the fact that 50% of pregnancies are unplanned. These pregnancies are associated with increased mortality for the mother and infant. “Lifestyle factors (e.g., smoking, drinking alcohol, unsafe sex practices, and poor nutrition) and inadequate intake of foods containing folic acid pose serious health hazards to the mother and fetus and are more common among women with unintended pregnancies” (Center for Disease Control, 1999, p. 849). In addition, the CDC estimates that half of the women that experience an unintended pregnancy do not seek prenatal care during the first trimester. To discover interventions that may diminish maternal mortality, 25 states have reestablished maternal mortality review committees to examine factors that may contribute to maternal deaths (American Medical Society, 1999). This is an ongoing epidemic that needs to end or else our whole African American race will eventually become extinct. In this episode, we will be addressing the topic that speaks to the frustration and lack thereof of emotional intelligence when it comes to sharing our views on what is deemed beautiful. As a young Black Woman, I have always got those looks and peculiar questions as to whether or not the hair growing from my scalp is real. Those comments have and still make me feel uncomfortable because I am more than my hair, I am a living breathing representative of the most high God. Sadly, they don't see the spirit underneath the skin and I am talking about all nationalities who generalize this opinion, not only Europeans, but even us as African Americans believe and spew out this narrative that Black Women can't grow long healthy hair too. We are going to break down these stereotypes right here and now! Don’t forget to share, comment and send us your questions so we can address them here on the show. In this episode, I will be talking about the subtle stereotypical false perceptions and constant labels implemented against Black Women in America. Living in a world where everything is all about looks, how much followers you have, body type, and academics. I find it hard for us as human beings to be authentic and speak without offending no matter the viewpoints of someone else. We are so quick to speak out of haste and generalize a whole race based on the actions of one person. This has been my biggest issue ever since I was taught about the definition of racial profiling and the condescending jokes about how Black Women act or react to certain situations. Not every woman is alike and not every Black Woman has a quote on quote big backside, large breasts, fake hair, talk loud, from Nigeria, unmarried, and have children for different baby fathers. This may be the reality for some, but this does not define the true purpose or perception of the Black culture. We are more than the false perceptions and as a young black woman, I stand here against the false viewpoints about my exists. In this episode, I will be talking about the steps and solutions to overcoming racism & stereotypical comments daily. Every day we are faced with different emotional and psychological obstacles that continuously get in the way of the growth process. Some if not most of the racism & stereotypical comments are stemmed from social media, personal or in the workplace. I have found that 50% of the time offensive comments are said innocently and the other 50% is purposeful without having any regard for how someone else might feel. My personal experiences with overcoming racism & stereotypical comments have taught me the importance of having a spiritual relationship with God and knowing who I am. Am I going to believe the mean and hateful things that people say or I am going to remember that I am fearfully and wonderfully made in Jesus Christ? My life is a blessing and until we realize this the hateful comments will always psychological scar us. In this episode, I will be talking about why college is a privilege, not an obligation. Growing up, my mother has always been my greatest supporter and encouraged me to never stop learning. Despite my hesitation and lack of interest in doing any homework or participating in educational activities, my mother still encouraged and allowed me to get over the phase of being an adolescent. To keep it real, I very much did not like school or reading, math or english, but I only loved science. For me, learning is like trying to ride a bike for the first time, the fear of falling off and cutting yourself has always been a terror for me, but I had to remember this is my life! But what I loved the most is the fact that my mother never imposed the pressure for me to get a college education, instead, it was my decision. I wanted to educate myself and use my degree to help others and today I am an avid reader, english is my fav and math is a work in progress. This is why I wanted to discuss this topic on my podcast to get your feedback, especially if you are a parent or a current college student. How did you make your decision to attend a university? Was this a willing decision or an obligation? Don’t forget to share, comment and send us your questions so we can address them here on the show. In this episode, I will be talking about how a young adult or adolescent child can build a healthier communicative relationship with their parents. Growing up, I was surrounded with the freedom to communicate my thoughts openly without any fear or restrictions. However, this does not mean that my mother allowed me to say whatever came to my mouth. From a young age, I was taught the importance of honesty and never holding back for the approval of others. This example has taught me the importance of being authentic and resulting in my relationship with my mother to excel tremendously. I had the opportunity to talk to my mother about anything and she did the same, but maintaining our relationship took a lot of work! We both had to commit to being honest, authentic and willing to hear each other despite our opposing viewpoints. Learning how to communicate better with your child starts when both parties are ready to receive, exercise patience and willing to grow spiritually. Building a relationship with your parent is vital, but if this is not the case then be at peace with yourself and never stop growing towards becoming the best version of yourself. In this episode, I will be talking about a topic that is an ongoing discussion and why our culture is still divided. Recently Disney released new details on the new Live Action film "Ariel" and announced the actress who will be singing under the sea. Halle Bailey will be our Ariel, she one of the stars of the Freeform television show "Grownish", plus one half of the duo Chloe X Halle. This new live-action film became a trending topic, not because of the excitement of Ariel being a live-action film, but the fact that Ariel will be an African American girl instead of the original representation of a pale face red-haired mermaid. This does not come as a shock to me that Halle is receiving backlash, but social media is making this a prejudice situation instead of mere dislike. We are all lovers of movies and at some point, we envision movie characters like ourselves, so why is Halle Bailey receiving this backlash when Will Smith who played the iconic Robin Williams character as the Genie in Disney's "Aladdin" was welcomed? This is borderline line favoritism and another example that gender still plays a factor in any industry. Today we are taking back our voice and letting go of these harmful stereotypes. In this episode, we will be discussing the cultural phenomenon of survival and the lack of spiritual discernment in how we communicate with those around us. Every day 1 in 10 children are latchkey children while their parents are working, for most, having the blessing of having two parents offers more opportunities to have at least one form of adult supervision but not will child is luck. For a child living in a single-parent home, you are taught to be responsible and watchful as you walk home, bathe, cook your meals if necessary and do homework while your parent is working. My story is similar to this example, being raised in a single home, my mother worked as a nurse for close to 10 years and never once missed an appointment, parent-teacher meetings, important event or failed to create special moments with me. Despite having surgery on her brain, my mother recovered with great faith and prayer, never letting anyone whether it be a man, family members, or outside influencers to distort our childhood. This brings me to a film that tells the story and consequences of being a latchkey child, especially when your parent is not spiritually present or strong enough to overcome the troubles of life. We all have breaking points and trying to survive is the ultimate goal, but why do we have to force ourselves to do something that could be a detriment to our lives? Constantly staying in a mode of survival will put you or your child at risk, this is why I love that the movie "Pihu" affected me and placed me emotionally in every scene, alone in an apartment but luckily I had my three older siblings with me instead of fending for myself at a young age. Pihu is a social thriller starring the two-year baby girl. She is living in a home where the adults are going through a complicated phase. Being a toddler, she is occasionally trapped in the accidental situations. Director: Kapri Vinod Stars: Rahul Bagga, Pihu Myra Vishwakarma, Prerna Vishwakarma This movie is the story for everyone, whether you are a latchkey or child living in a two-parent home, the harsh reality that unfortunate events can happen and how life is fragile like a butterfly.
