Ben Bell is a football coach that is also a Masters Student studying the applications of the Constraints Led approach in Football. His studies led to him to write a book which he hopes will bridge the gap between the theory and the application. 'Introduction to the Constraints-Led Approach: Application in Football' is a coaching resource football coaches can use to understand key theoretical underpinnings such as ecological dynamics, perception-action, degrees of freedom and complexity theory. Examples are then provided within theoretical chapters to assist readers in their practical application. Over 30 designed practices using the constraints-led approach show readers how the theory translates into practice. It was a great conversation...I hope you enjoy.

We are delighted to begin a new series on 'Introduction to Catholic Prayer' by Fr. Shane Sullivan of the Archdiocese of Tuam in West of Ireland. Fr. Shane is an American priest based permanently in Ireland. Fr. Shane has been a guest on the podcast before giving a talk on 'Discernment'. This new series is a four part series and each episode will be released on a weekly basis. The format of this podcast is slightly different to usual. Fr. Shane recorded this initially over Zoom for a prayer group that he runs in his parish. So at times he may refer to people who are watching live at the time of recording or are asking questions in the chat feature on Zoom. But it is very easy to listen to and the content is excellent. The first session in our series 'Introduction to the Noble Eightfold Path', on the first factor of 'Perfect Conviction' ('Sammadiṭṭhi'). Ajahn Dhammasiha points out that we have to distinguish two levels of right view:1. Right View that is wholesome, but still only on the level of thought/perception, not yet based on relization, and therefore still leading to rebirth: Conviction that there is a point and meaning in generosity, offerings and sacrifice for the sake of other beings; conviction that there is a result of good and bad actions; that after death rebirth will happen in various realms of existence according to our actions and the purity or impurity of our mind; that there are beings like devas/angels/spirits, even if we can't see or touch them; that there are renuncients who have attained enlightenment and can teach the path leading to the end of suffering2. Right view that is supramundane: the experiential insight into the 4 Noble Truths in the heart of the noble ones who realize Nibbāna.What's unique about the Buddha's teaching on view is his analysis of the origin, the causes and conditions resulting in a particular view; and the results that will come from holding a particular view. In other words, he applies the teaching of 'dependent origination' also to the dependent arising of views. Whereas other religions philosophies and doctrines hold on to their particular views as 'true' or 'right' in an absolute sense, the Buddha recognizes every view (even 'right view') as dependently arisen, impermanent, and not-self.The point is not to cling and identify with any view, but to deliberately develop right view, to use it simply as a tool to extricate ourselves from suffering and realize Nibbāna. Beyond asking wether a particular view is 'right' or 'wrong', we investigate where does that view come from, and where does it lead to?www.dhammagiri.orgwww.vimeo.com/dhammatalkswww.tinyletter.com/dhammagiri/archive..

This week Scott is joined by former Primer 55 members Bobby Burns and Joshua Toomey. In this detailed discussion, the guys look back on the history of the band. Primer 55 dealt with severe highs and lows. From the highs of Bobby and Jason "J-Sin" Luttrell forming the band in Memphis, obtaining a record deal, and touring on Ozzfest to the lows of addiction, drama, band member exits, and the death of Luttrell in 2018.In this discussion, Burns and Toomey reflect on many of these moments as well as behind the scenes stories of the band and its inner-workikngs. It's an interesting fly-on-the-wall experience to listen to the stories between these two. Additionally, Bobby and Joshua shed light on their thoughts of a possible reunion in 2020 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the debut lp, 'Introduction to Mayhem.' You can hear Joshua Toomey weekly on his podcast Talk Toomey. Full information and links can be found at http://www.talktoomeypod.com/ Primer 55 was formed in 1997 after years of suffering through the stale music scene in Memphis, TN, dominated by death metal and cover bands. Rather than sit back and complain, the group decided to do something about it. Guitarist Bobby Burns, led by his heavy metal past, co-founded the band with vocalist J-Sin, who added a more hip-hop flavor to the mix. The two enlisted the help of friends Mike "Jr." Christopher on bass and Josh McLane on drums. They soon gained an underground following from their intense live performances and in 1999 released their self-titled debut album on the independent label Propellant Transmissions. Shortly after this release, the group was offered a contract with Island Def Jam. After they graciously accepted the offer, the group continued with their hybrid heavy metal/hip-hop style on their 2000 release Introduction to Mayhem. The album is a trip into the depths of extreme passion and music authority. With the help of Incubus DJ Chris Kilmore, (hed) p.e. frontman MCUD, and Relative Ash vocalist Mark Harrington, the album solidified Primer 55 as a musical force to be reckoned with. Following the release, the band toured almost nonstop and found themselves amongst the elite of hard rock. In 2001, the band replaced drummer Josh McLane, who left for personal reasons, with John Kamoosi to continue work on new material. On August 14, 2001, Primer 55 released their second studio album, (the) New Release. It went to number 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart and No. 102 on the Billboard 200. The album's single, "This Life" peaked at No. 37 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks Chart. After the album's initial success, it was suddenly shelved by Island Records. Burns told PureGrainAudio, "The album was out 2 months then 9/11 happened and we got lost in that shuffle that was going on in NY at that time."Despite having their album shelved, the band embarked on "The $12 Riot Tour" on October 31 with Dope, Skinlab and Society 1. The next year, Primer 55 performed as the opening act at the 2002
This part of the programme was originally broadcast in May of 2014. Lorraine Buckley leads us through a reflection on Catholic's understanding of Mary in salvation history and in the church. Using the book 'Introduction to Mary - The Heart of Marian Doctrine and Devotion' by Mark Miravalle we looked at what is devotion to Mary and Mary in Scripture (Old Testament pre-figurements of Mary and Mary in the New Testament). We then looked at two key Marian doctrines: (1) Mary, the Mother of God and our Mother; and (2) the Immaculate Conception. Both of these Marian doctrines (indeed, all Marian doctrines) are centred around Christ and what He has done for us.
This week on Exploring Videogames, I talk about 'Introduction to the Ocean'!
John is 42 years old hailing from the North of England who has always known alcohol wasn't good for him. John tried to quit many times unsuccessfully before, in July 2018, he decided enough was enough, and posted his 'Introduction' on Strive, the day after his last drink. He's not touched a drop since. John is a qualified counsellor and father to a 4 year old girl called Betsy who he wishes to be the best role model for. John also wishes to help others to overcome challenges in their lives and drinking alcohol does not aid any of these goals. Alcohol aids nothing. Since quitting alcohol John has setup his private counselling practice, developed a love of running and gained clarity and control of his life. Roberto Di Cosmo (Inria, France and University of Paris Diderot, France), gives the fourth presentation in the first panel, Art and Education, in the ICFP 2017 conference. Co-written by Benjamin Canou (OCamlPro) and Gregoire Henry (OCamlPro). This article describes the key innovations used in the massive open online course 'Introduction to Functional Programming using OCaml that has run since the fall semester of 2015. A fully in-browser development environment with an integrated grader provides an exceptional level of feedback to the learners. A functional library of grading combinators greatly simplifies the notoriously complex task of writing test suites for the exercises, and provides static type-safety guarantees on the tested user code. Even the error-prone manual process of importing the course content in the learning platform has been replaced by a functional program that describes the course and statically checks its contents. A detailed statistical analysis of the data collected during and after the course assesses the effectiveness of these innovations.
