What does a post-military career in Operations look like? In today's fast-paced and competitive business landscape, companies must find ways to optimize their operations, minimize costs, and meet customer expectations more effectively. The competitive advantage for any company is getting the right product, to the right customer, for the right price, at the right time by using the most cost-effective means. In this episode, we're fortunate to enough to bring back four former JMO's and Cameron-Brooks Alumni who are leading in the Operations and Supply Chain Management Career Fields to discuss their experiences, common misconceptions, and concepts like the integrated supply chain and why it is essential for sustainable growth and gaining the competitive advantage. What is Operations and Supply Chain Management? The Operations Career Field encompasses all activities in Supply Chain Management and involves leading teams of people in: Inventory Management, Warehousing, Distribution Management, Logistics, Transportation, Procurement, and customer service. Supply Chain Management is the management of the flow of goods and services and includes all processes that transform raw materials into final products. It involves the active streamlining of a business's supply-side activities to maximize customer value and earn the edge in the marketplace. Companies are always looking to become more efficient and economical by analyzing data, conducting trend analysis, finding ways to improving and extend their asset's (i.e. their fleets of vehicles: maintenance, etc.). The Integrated Supply Chain? An integrated supply chain is the cohesive network that links all components of the supply chain—from raw material suppliers and manufacturers to warehouses, distributors, and retailers—into a single, streamlined system. Whether a company's supply chain is vertically integrated, or horizontally integrated, the goal remains the same: create a more unified, agile, and efficient supply chain that can respond swiftly to market demands and disruptions. You'll hear four Cameron-Brooks alumni talk about their post-military careers in Operations, some common misconceptions, and what a day in the life is like. You will meet: Danny Baker, Army Captain, launched his career with Catalent Biopharmaceutical. Staci Lynch, Army Major, launch her career with Love's Travel Stops. Beau Hughes, Army Captain, launched his career with HF Sinclair Corporation. Bobby Burns, Army Captain, launched his career with Excelitas Technologies Corporation. Strong leadership is essential for companies managing operations and integrated supply chains due to the complex, dynamic nature of these systems. These four individuals and many other Cameron-Brooks alumni are thriving in this career field. Their ability to drive the strategic vision, make decisions, collaborate and communicate effectively, motivate and empower teams, navigate uncertainty and manage risks, all while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction has allowed them to establish a solid resume block(s) and be successful in their first couple years in Business. Companies are always evaluating their leadership depth and who is at the helm of their operations as they know they are better equipped to enhance efficiency, foster resilience, and achieve long-term success in competitive markets. Of course, if you want to know more about how Cameron-Brooks can help you reach your personal and professional goals, or if a post-military career in Operations might be the right fit for you, give me a call or email me directly below. If you want to learn more on your own time, you can visit our website, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Best of success, Brock Dudley || bdudley@cameron-brooks.com || (210) 874-1495

Whelp, Mom is in the hospital again, so it's time for another cocktail! Update: she's out of the hospital and in a rehab where she is making excellent progress! So cheers to that! Bootie first learned about the Bobby Burns cocktail from Darcy Cameron, the owner of Shibui yarn on her blog, Shibui Life. Bootie and Bossy did not have the required Scotch (or Benedictine, or Absinthe, well, ok, Bootie had the absinthe but is keeping the bottle purely for aesthetic reasons), so they used what they had on hand, and it was delicious. As for Robert Burns, a.k.a. Bobby or Rabbie, he is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland and an early promoter of the Romantic movement. When he wasn't farming and writing poetry, he was quite busy fathering children (12!). His birthday is celebrated on January 25th, and many toast him with this cocktail. In addition to writing the New Year's classic, "Auld Lang Syne", he wrote this gem, "The Answer" (can't you just here the Scottish brogue?):Ev'n thena wish (I mind its power) A wish, that to my latest hour Shall strongly heave my breast; That I for poor auld Scotland's sake Some useful plan, or book could make, Or sing a sang at least.Bootie and Bossy review the book A History of the World in 6 Glasses by Tom Standage. We loved how he highlighted the fascinating details about beer, wine, distilled drinks, tea, coffee and Coca-Cola while putting them in the context of larger and broader historical trends. We also give some knitting updates.

Too often when we find ourselves stuck or in a quandary that is challenging us we feel a great sense of inadequacy. Yet, the very same problem can land on the desk of a co-worker or classmate who feels none of the feelings of inadequacy. Then you suddenly feel alone and even more ashamed or lost in the feelings of inadequacy. This is where the curse of never being satisfied begins. As we look around the reason is often due to feelings of being insuficienct or inadequate. As we look from the outside as Bobby Burns sees it, we should see ourselves as others see us. We really have no reason to feel inferior at all, and we certainly have no business talking, thinking or feeling poorly about ourselves. God did not create your spirit with faults. You are created in the “image” of God. You and I can't see God and you and I cannot see the God part of ourselves. This matters because we certainly don't always think like God, so why in God's world would we always or even sometimes embrace a negative connotation towards any part of our physical body. Our body is of this world while our true nature is not of this physical world. We basically are like fish out of water judging one another in spite of the fact we all l arrived here the very same way. Many people who have far less talents, less abilities, less skills, less proficiencies, less going for them are getting along fine. I would like to ask you a few questions you likely have never asked yourself. Do you enjoy your own company? Do you seem anywhere near as nice to yourself as you appear to me? Do you look in a miror and experience a great sense of gratitude for the person you see in the mirror before you? Can you praise that person, be thankful for that person and sometimes say nice things to that person, or is that kinda difficult to do? If the answer is basically no to this then it's very tragic, because the feelings that you have about yourself will certainly color and influence everything that happens in you, to you and around you and this will likely continue throughout all of your life. Lessons From A High School Dropout Podcast is dedicated to all of our uniquely gifted minds who at some point felt sadly alone as they struggled with the challenge of learning or discouraged for holding the vision and dreams within their brilliant minds. Lessons From A High School Dropout is here to support the spirit of the entrepreneur, the student, the employee and to help build these dreams upon the gifts each one of us are endowed with. Maybe you were told you couldn't do something and needed to choose another path. We all learn in our own special way, each with a unique desire for a sense of fulfillment in our journey. We affirm that with each lesson you will be more inspired to learn new things to help you with your walk in life. A walk that will take you down the "Road Less Traveled". Joshua Toomey has loved metal since he was a kid. He went to metal shows, played bass in metal bands ( including Primer 55 with his friend Bobby Burns), and is now host of Talk Toomey, a podcast dedicated to metal music and news. Josh remembers his time in Nashville in the 90s well, selling out Lucy's as a member of 12V Negative Earth, applying the DIY-punk ethos to playing and touring, and the miracle of living in a place where you could easily connect with people like Fred Coury of Cinderella, who would then record your band for free in a gigantic fancy-pants studio. When Josh was a kid he wasn't satisfied with just seeing his favorite bands play. He wanted to meet them and have real conversations. So before every show he went to, he would prepare questions and set out to find the band. Thirty years later Josh would turn his natural curiosity and knack for crafting thought-provoking questions into over 400 episodes of content. Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax…you name the band, he's interviewed them. And that was before he joined up with Knotfest and helped turn their festival website into a loud music news and journalism juggernaut. – Talk Toomey has been regularly hailed as a top show since the onset, being highlighted on sites like Blabbermouth, Brave Words, etc. Talk Toomey is released for music fans free every Thursday. Bobby Burns is a singer and songwriter whose musical career began in 1988 at the tender age of 12. He began by performing with his older brother and greatest influence, Llyod Hemmings, at shows across the island. Burns migrated to the United Kingdom in 1999 and joined a group called “The Savannas”. They secured a contract with a leading Reggae distributor, Jet Star Recordings. In 2004 Burns returned to Jamaica and has continued to pursue a musical career. He has released the titles “Caught”, “Over U” and “Sunshine”. He has also performed alongside notable names, such as “Sugar Minnott”. Now extended until February 24, 2019, Beyond Fashion takes a deeper look at the relationship between fashion and art. It explores how they may be integrated to produce works that speak to a variety of concepts. In this exhibition, there is a myriad of art forms, such as photography, quilting, installation and jewellery to name a few. The National Gallery of Jamaica will be open from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, with the Bobby Burns performance beginning at 1:30 p.m. As per usual on Last Sundays, admission is free, but contributions to our Donations Box, located in the lobby, are appreciated. These donations help to fund exhibitions like Beyond Fashion and our Last Sunday's programming. The National Gallery’s Gift Shop and Coffee Shop will be open for business. We'll talk about the New Year's tune Auld Lang Syne, written by Bobby Burns and sung each year all over the English-speaking world to send the expiring year into the past. And we'll even have a little party with Bear and his animal friends in a story from Bill Harley. On today's episode, enjoy the following:"Train" by Kevin Kling (8:31)"Goodly Knights" by Jerome K. In this episode we discuss why you need to tackle your passion full on once you discover it, incorporating learning and sharing knowledge into your culture, how to exceed expectation, why the experience is more important that the food or drink, and when you boil it down its really just about making people happy. Initially treating the restaurant industry as means to financially sustain plenty of other creative endeavors, Bobby Burns is now 24 years in.
