A Blast From The Recent Past In this casually non-themed episode from a few months back, we do a poor job of foreshadowing already released The Abby K episode, then the gang meanders around some random topics to give us their take on: Flying Ferrari F1 cars at Imola, Italy. How can we do a racing series in Antarctica? Why can't Misty go out to her MX-5 and upgrade her bulbs to LED's? Off-brand gasoline: does it have anything in common with a smorgasbord and does that make it bad? How does Ben like his new to him Mazda 6? Is Mickey's newly found improvement in fuel economy due to using gasoline with a different octane rating or is it the manner in which he drove his car? Our trivia questions let us know: What was / is / will be GeVeCo service? What cars did / do / will come with a Vegan Leather interior? How many Nauga pelts are used in a typical Naugahyde interior? We welcome your support via Patreon and your questions and feedback via our website.

Chances are it is simply your body's natural reaction to stress. Abby shares her tools to get you back on track when times are tough. Abby K rocks our show. Professional rock singer and bassist Abby K joins us for this episode and we learn: Is she the sister of Alice Cooper's and Demi Lovato's guitarist Nita Strauss? Why does former TTAC guest Ricky Rachtman give her career advice? What kind of cars does an up and coming rock star have and why does Abby's daily driver need to be serviced by a NASCAR team member? What are the features of a musician's touring rig? What was the last new vehicle sold in the USA with a 4 barrel carburetor? Was it also the last vehicle sold with a cassette tape player? We wonder who can get Abby K a gig to play at the Daytona 500 or the Indy 500? Thanks for listening! We welcome your support via Patreon and your questions and feedback via our website.
Oh man I laughed so hard on this one! From Charlotte N.C. Occult Fracture! My name is Abby and I am a physical therapy student at the University of Pittsburgh. I am currently finishing up my last partially didactic semester and then will be in the clinic for 30 weeks in August followed by graduation. I have a background in rugby and bodybuilding myself as well as experience in fitness coaching for a wide variety of populations including runners, college athletes, athletes with disability, and people just trying to lose weight, gain muscle, or generally be healthier. I have my CPT from NASM as well as my CSCS and Pn1 certifications. In addition to my hands-on experience, I've collaborated on research in concussion and running through the University of Pittsburgh Concussion Research Lab and UPMC respectively. Outside of fitness and PT I am a massive nerd and love Star Wars, anime, and cosplay. Topics Covered: - Exploitative nature of clinical rotations and general PT school insensitivities regarding the financial burden of grad school - Paying full tuition to work 40+ hours/week for free, students sure of a setting they want to work in being forced to complete their rotation in settings they have no interest in, having to attend in-person class for lectures requiring no hands-on learning (It feels ridiculous to spend an hour of my day driving to class, pay for gas and parking, just to sit in an hour long lecture that could have been held on Zoom. Many PT students also have to work on top of school and I hate the "PT school is your job attitude" - Disconnect between PT and S&C and fitness as a whole - How much of a difference are we really making? Especially with the pressure to see as many patients as possible at many outpatient clinics on top of completing documentations - how often are PTs actually able to dig deep at psychosocial issues and other issues that may affect a patient's rehab and overall health. - Professionalism and being shoved into a box, having other interests or "unprofessional" content associated with a clincian on the internt does not mean they know less or are unable to be professional in the workplace. I think many patients almost have better connections with less "professional"clinicians because they see them as another person here to help them as opposed to a white coat talking down on them.
Hey Rockers! If you're a fan of some good ole Rock N Roll, this is the interview for you! In this audio expedition, Abby K invited me to join her as she shares her musical journey and stories how her family and co-writers have shaped her music. The pandemic DID NOT slow her down. In fact, it seems it only served to feed her songwriting and singing talents.Abby K draws upon many influences in her music from her childhood days in Kentucky and you can feel her down-home warmth. Then, after two decades in the Windy City, where she was exposed to the extremes of weather and musical inspirations, she moved her act to Seattle where she performs regularly, including Seattle's NW Folk Life Festival in 2017 and 2019. You can find out more about her tour dates here: https://abbykmusic.com/home#showsSo, when all of that comes together, what do you get? Music with honesty, clarity, harmony, and beauty. Abby's sound is as green, lush and dramatic, as the Pacific Northwest and like Sarah Bernhardt. Her melodies are instantly hummable and imminently memorable, and her stories will hit you smack dab in the heart. Some of the other inspiring singer-songwriters whose names you'll hear in this episode include those that Abby and I met at the Pacific Songwriting Camp - http://songcamps.org/January 19–23, 2023 at Camp Ocean Pines in Cambria, CaliforniaThey include:Cosy Sheridan - https://cosysheridan.com/Joe Peters - https://joedaiwarriors.bandcamp.com/Michael McNevin - https://michaelmcnevin.com/Rachel Garlin - https://rachelgarlin.com/Dale La Duke - https://soundcloud.com/dale-ladukeSeverin Browne - https://severinbrowne.com/Mark Alciati - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fB2NgME3YJISherry Davis - https://sheriedavismusic.com/Dave Pascoe and Laura Benson of Late for the Train - https://www.lateforthetrainband.com/The Paul Simon reference that Abby mentions is from Paul Zollo's book series, "Songwriters on Songwriting." https://www.amazon.com/Songwriters-Songwriting-Expanded-Paul-Zollo/dp/0306812657 Learn more about Paul at https://www.linkedin.com/in/paul-zollo-0a18b75/ Also, here's a link to the music video that Abby and her son created before he ran off to the other side of the country for college. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ee_j9UMsUmU"Mom's Old Room" is a poignant portrayal of discovery and surprise.
