I spoke with Rik Emmett earlier today and thought it was so good I didn't want to wait to post it. Yes, I know I posted an interview already today (with Gene Simmons), but it's my podcast, and I make the rules! Obviously, I had to ask Rik about the tour and putting the band back together with some help from Phil X, Brent Fitz, and Todd Kerns. He was all about talking about that, Mike Levin not playing any of the shows, and the "Summer of Canadian Rock Trios" with Rush getting back on the road in 2026. Then, it's a classic interview with Fred Durst and Wes Borland from Limp Bizkit from 2010. This interview aired on WRIF but was never posted online, so here it is. It's cool to go back and listen to how the guys split and got back together. There are also some other cultural references, including a social media interaction with Neil Diamond. You may or may not recall that. Enjoy these two interviews. See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Todd Kerns joins RadioBypass for an in-depth conversation covering Triumph, Toque, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, Minefield, Heroes & Monsters, Black Sonic Pearls, and an incredible Rock and Roll life! This conversation has been a couple of years in the making. Mutual friend Mitch Perry first introduced Todd and RadioBypass host Ralph Rasmussen, and Todd and Ralph talked then about getting together for a RadioBypass interview. It took a little longer than planned—but considering everything happening in Todd's musical world right now, the timing couldn't have been much better. One of the biggest topics is Triumph.Todd takes us inside his experience joining Rik Emmett and Gil Moore for the Rock & Roll Machine Reloaded Tour, something he describes as among the most surreal experiences of his career. Growing up in Canada with Triumph's music in his DNA makes being part of the band's return especially meaningful.Todd talks about stepping into the role originally held by Mike Levine while still bringing his own personality to the stage, working alongside Phil X and Brent Fitz, recreating those classic Triumph songs live, and the unforgettable moment when Rik Emmett asked him to sing “Fight the Good Fight.”With a second leg of the Rock & Roll Machine Reloaded Tour announced, Todd also discusses what might change when the band heads back out and some of the Triumph music he'd love to tackle. We also dive into Toque, Todd's celebration of Canadian Rock and Roll with longtime musical partner Brent Fitz. Todd tells us how the band began, what Canadian rock means to him, and the story behind “Fighters,” which RadioBypass named one of our Top 11 Singles of 2025.Todd shares the meaning behind “Fighters,” the unexpected hockey story that inspired one of its lyrics, and what's happening now with Toque—including their brand-new single “This Isn't Over.”The conversation also takes us through Minefield, Heroes & Monsters, Blackbird Angels, Todd's collaborations with Black Sonic Pearls, the changing music business, why being a frontman has helped him become a better sideman, and why saying “yes” has played such an important role throughout his career. And before we wrap up, Todd gives us some exciting news about Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators:The next SMKC album is coming in 2027Todd says a new single should arrive before the end of 2026And the band plans to embark on a world tour in 2027Then we do what RadioBypass does best—turn up the music!Toque – FightersOne of the RadioBypass Top 11 Singles of 2025Toque – This Isn't OverThe brand-new Toque single, personally selected by Todd Kerns for RadioBypass. There was still plenty left to talk about when we reached the end—and Todd himself suggested a “Part Two.”We think that's a pretty good idea!Turn it up and enjoy our conversation with Todd Kerns!RadioBypass – celebrating rock past, present and future... delivering Rock and Roll music that DESERVES to be heard!

As PHIL X became a YouTube sensation through his work demoing vintage guitars for Fretted Americana, the band's visibility skyrocketed, eventually evolving into the powerhouse known as PHIL X & THE DRILLS. Over the years, the band has worked with an incredible roster of guest drummers, including Josh Freese (Sting, Foo Fighters), Abe Laboriel Jr. (Paul McCartney), and Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters), among others. ‘Stupid Good Lookings Vol. 1', showcased the band's knack for pushing boundaries and delivering unforgettable rock tracks. In 2024, PHIL X & THE DRILLS hit a new career milestone, opening for Mötley Crüe at Summerfest in Springfield, IL, where their performance left 10,000 fans and industry professionals in awe. Now, with ‘POW! Right in the Kisser', they're set to take the next big step in their musical journey.

On this episode, two Canadian guitarists. Alex Liefson is first. The latest Envy of None album dropped last week. He talked about the album and his thoughts on solos - there are only a few on this record - and how he would describe the EON music, as well as working with Andy Curran on it. Of course, we talked RUSH. How was it to create with a guy like Neil Peart? Alex has nothing but glowing things to say about the late drumming master. They also have a new 50th-anniversary package out. He also talks of his over 50-year friendship with Geddy Lee. There are some very funny moments when we discussed his appearances on The Trailer Park Boys and in the movie I Love You, Man. Really funny! Up next, it's Phil X. The Jon Bon Jovi guitarist's new album POW! Right In The Kisser is out now. It features a different drummer on each song. Phil talks to that and working with these legends. He spoke to the first time he took the stage with JBJ, in front of 50,000 people! Also his thoughts on the upcoming Triumph tribute album that he's a part of. That's just for starters in the great conversation with phil. Thanks for listening! Meltdown

"Thank You, Goodnight" on Hulu, Jon Bon Jovi reflects on the band's 40th anniversary in 2022, preparing for a tour with an extensive three-week rehearsal, an unusual length compared to their typical four-day rehearsals. Jon shares his mixed feelings about the tour, oscillating between excitement and regret. Despite his successful career, Jon emphasizes that his passion for music drives him more than necessity. He recalls his non-musical upbringing, with his mother being a florist and his father a hairdresser, and how he developed an interest in music around the age of 12 or 13.Jon recounts his early struggles and determination, noting that he was never the best singer but had a strong work ethic that fueled his success. He mentions contemplating retirement in 2019 due to vocal issues, which he tried to address with multiple vocal coaches and medical treatments. Jon reminisces about sneaking into The Stone Pony in Asbury Park to watch performances by local legends like Southside Johnny and Bruce Springsteen, which inspired his own musical journey despite the initial lack of support for New Jersey artists.Jon shares his early experiences in the music industry, from the formation of his high school band, Atlantic City Expressway, to working as a gopher at the Power Station studio. He details the breakthrough with his song "Runaway," which, after being rejected by numerous record companies, became a hit on a new radio station, WAPP. This success led to his partnership with Richie Sambora, whose chemistry with Jon created magic. Jon and Richie's songwriting, particularly with hits like "You Give Love a Bad Name" and "Livin' on a Prayer," propelled Bon Jovi to stardom, culminating in their seminal album "Slippery When Wet."The documentary delves into the band's intense touring schedules and the personal and professional challenges they faced, including internal tensions and substance abuse issues. Jon reflects on the strain of constant touring and the need for band members to take breaks, leading to solo projects. He discusses the difficulties he faced with his voice and the subsequent surgery that required months of recovery, during which he questioned his future in music. Jon also recalls significant moments in the band's history, such as their manager Doc McGhee's legal troubles and their groundbreaking performance in Moscow.Despite the ups and downs, Jon emphasizes the band's resilience and evolving lineup, including the addition of Phil X as a guitarist when Richie Sambora left. The band's continued success, highlighted by their 2018 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, showcases their enduring legacy. The passing of original bassist Alec John Such in 2022 deeply affected Jon and the band, prompting reflections on mortality and the importance of their bond.In 2023, Jon faces new challenges with his voice but remains optimistic about his future in music. He highlights his commitment to philanthropy through the Soul Foundation and his ongoing creative endeavors, including plans for a new album. Despite considering retirement, Jon's passion for music and dedication to his craft continue to drive him forward, leaving the door open for future projects while expressing gratitude for his journey thus far.
