A woman claims not to understand the traditional rules around dating, since she's so steeped in non-monogamy. This is, of course, preposterous. What are the positives (and, are there any negatives?) to a woman being very flexible in bed. Keith doesn't find it as compelling as the cultural stereotypes would suggest, but maybe he hasn't fully taken advantage of it. A woman responds oddly to catching her husband masturbating. And, a man insists on covering his partner's buttocks while having sex in the doggy-style position. **WARNING: YOU MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER TO ENJOY THIS CONTENT**On this episode, Brian and I did sort of a discussion and a Let's Try It combo. I am currently lactating for our Adult Nursing Relationship, and after pumping or feeding with Brian, I manually express the remaining milk out. While on Fetlife one day, I learned about something called HUCOW (Human-Cow) and I just had to get his thoughts on it. This discussion was a bit impromptu whit him only having an hour or so to google and figure out what I was talking about, but it was well worth it!And remember, Patrons get Perks! Welcome to the first EBNJC podcast, this month’s topic is Adult Nursing. Dr Helen Noble, Associate Editor, Evidence Based Nursing, will be exploring a commentary from the journal written by invited guest Dr Stephanie Thompson, from the Department of Medicine at the University of Alberta, Canada. The podcast discussions are intended to help you think about matters raised in the commentary, as well as the clinical applicability of the original research paper.Dr Thompson will discuss her commentary which critiqued a cross-sectional observational study aimed at examining sleep quality in chronic haemodialyzed patients in relation to morning-shift dialysis. She stresses that assessment of sleep quality, with attention to disease and treatment-related factors should be incorporated into the routine care of haemodialysis patients. Importantly Dr Thompson draws on her own experiences and reflects on the relevance of the study to practice and policy.Read the full commentary:ebnurs-2013-101673 - People receiving dialysis in the morning have better subjective sleep quality than those who receive dialysis at other times http://goo.gl/JqmP8iAnd the original research article: Better sleep quality in chronic haemodialyzed patients is associated with morning-shift dialysis: a cross-sectional observational study http://goo.gl/4yM8R2
How nurses can use relaxation therapy, massage, acupuncture and empathy to help people manage their pain. This edition has been funded by the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All Programme in Wales. "Imagine how it feels like if you’re in pain and people won’t help you. " Like other healthcare professionals, nurses can sometimes struggle to understand the perspective of people living with pain. At a training day for student nurses devoted to chronic pain, Gareth Parsons impresses on his audience the importance of believing the patient and delivers some uncomfortable truths based on his research about the frustrations people with pain often have of healthcare professionals: ‘you are the problem!’ Equipped with the training they receive, hopefully this group of nurses will instead be part of the solution. The first step is understanding that chronic pain is a condition in its own right – this way the nurses will be aware of the problems of treating chronic pain as if it were acute (for example, excessive use of opioids) and be able to help tackle anxiety and fear. With a better sense of the nature of chronic pain, nurses will be less likely to ‘throw drugs’ at the problem, Owena Simpson says. She guides the student nurses in a session of relaxation therapy, while Maria Parry teaches the students basic massage techniques and recalls her own experiences of how a patient of hers was able to overcome insomnia thanks to massage therapy. Gareth Parsons finishes the session with an acupuncture lesson and explains why this treatment may be more effective for some patients than for others.
