Shawn Living From the Super-consciousness “Make Prayer Your First Choice Rather Than your Last Chance” Hey U-nity, Pray First. Before any action is taken and preferably before thinking develops, pray. Pray, Pray, Pray! That doesn't mean to ask God for stuff. That is not a truly effective prayer method. If it were, we would all be amazing manifesters. Prayer means “conscious communion with God, or what God is.” What is God? God is Presence itself, Power Itself, Intelligence itself, Love itself, Wisdom itself. To pray is to be in conscious communion with what IS. When we do that, we then KNOW the next right thing to think, the next right thing to say and the next right thing to do. To pray is to center oneself and consciously connect with the Truth and Wisdom that IS. Sometimes we need to do it very quickly if we are in the midst of conflict. When I'm there in the midst of confusion I often get quiet (Even though I'm having a conversation with someone, I'm not getting quiet for long, just long enough for an easy breath and to go within and ask, “Spirit, what is the Truth here? What is the correct response here?”) I always get the answer I need for resolution, even though it might not be comfortable in the short run, it's always for peace in the long run. Pray, offering yourself over for peace and joy before checking your phone or email in the morning. Do the same throughout the day and, of course, at bedtime. Don't wait for conflict to come up before remembering to pray. Let prayer be your first choice in all things. All the Best For Today, Rev. Shawn
All Grace wants for her 90th birthday is to heal the heartbreaking rift that's rocked her family for decades. Love Untold is Ruth Jones third novel, and explores the intricate, devastating, and life-affirming relationships between four generations of Welsh women. Ruth joins Richard and Judy to discuss why family dynamics are such fertile ground for authors – they're at the heart of her writing on TV's Gavin and Stacey too. She believes that there's a little bit of bad in the best of us, and a little bit of good in the worst of us, and that writing warmly about forgiveness and redemption celebrates what it is to be human. To have true peace and joy, nothing is more important than understanding the greatness of God's grace. We need God's grace in every area of our lives. In fact, if it weren't for the grace of God, we would be hopelessly lost. But not only has God given us grace - the bible declares that God's grace is "overflowing" for us. In this sermon series titled "Grace Poured Out," Pastor Joplin teaches on the mind-blowing grace of a Holy God in Part 1: The God of All Grace. 1 Peter 5:10-11

Pastor Chris concludes our series "All Grace is Amazing" with this message from Galatians 2: 19-21
Pastor Chris continues our series "All Grace is Amazing" As we talk about a facet of grace that gets ignored. Convicting Grace.
INTRODUCTION I am fond of saying that grace has a backbone, but I think it is time to explain what I mean by that. The context of these remarks is the general and current ongoing discussion about the worrisome trajectories of all those incipient legalists and antinomians out there. The incipient legalists are the ones the incipient antinomians are worried about, and vice versa. THE TEXT “Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of hisgood pleasure” (Phil. 2:12-13). SUMMARY OF THE TEXT We see that for the apostle Paul, obedience is not a bad word. It does not have negative connotations for him. The Philippians were beloved by him, and he commends them for their obedience (v. 12). This was not just when Paul was present, but also when he was not with them. In particular, he tells them (in his absence) to work out their own salvation with fear and trembling (v. 12). How would it be possible for them to do this? God is the one who is at work within them, willing and doing in accordance with His good pleasure (v. 13). This means that the Philippians were to work out what God was working in. The labors of both parties, added up, did not come to 100%. God did everything in them. They did everything that was the result of what God did in them. Salvation is all of grace—even the work. But what is the relationship of the grace of God to the (seemingly unrelated) world of hard moral effort? If the grace of God is in all and through all, and beneath us all, then why do we still have to sweat bullets? Are those who sweat bullets abandoning the grace of God? Are those who rejoice in free forgiveness forsaking the demands of discipleship? But not all conditions are meritorious. RECONCILED FRIENDS Spurgeon once said, when asked how he reconciled divine sovereignty with human responsibility, that he did not even try—he never sought to reconcile friends. If we think about it rightly, from the vantage of those jealous for moral probity, we will never try to reconcile grace with works—that would be like trying to reconcile an apple tree with its apples. And, if we think about it rightly, from the vantage of those jealous for the wildness of grace, we will never try to reconcile grace with merit, for the two are mortal enemies and cannot be reconciled. But those who insist that apple trees must always produce apples will make the friends of free grace nervous, not because they have anything against apples, but rather because they know the human propensity for manufacturing shiny plastic apples, with the little hooks that make it easy to hang them, like so many Christmas tree ornaments, on our doctrinal and liturgical bramble bushes. But on the other hand, those who insist that true grace always messes up the categories of the ecclesiastical fussers make the friends of true moral order nervous—because there are, after all, numerous warnings (from people like Jesus and Paul, who should have a place in these particular discussions, after all) about those who “live this way” not inheriting the kingdom. Kind of cold, according to some people, but the wedding banquet is the kind of event you can get thrown out of. RIGHTLY RELATED So what is the relationship of grace to hard, moral effort? Well, hard, moral effort is a grace. It is not every grace, but it is a true grace. It is a gift of God, lest any should boast. We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, and this is a description of someone being saved by grace through faith, and not by works (Eph. 2:8-10). This is the meaning of our text—“work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” We are called to work out what God works in, and absolutely nothing else. If we don't work out that salvation (as evidenced by the fruit of it), then that is clear evidence that God is not working anything in. If we work out some pressboard imitation (a salvation that has the look of real wood!), then that shows that God is not working anything in there either. Moralism is just a three-dollar flashlight to light the pathway to Hell with. And of course, if we are guilty of the opposite error, if our lives are manifesting a lineup of dirty deeds done dirt cheap, the only real sin we are avoiding is that of hypocrisy. Overt immorality is the fifty-dollar flashlight. ALL GRACE, ALL THE TIME This is why we need a little more of “in Him we live and move and have our being.” Actually, we need a lot more of it. The answer to the grace/works dilemma is high octane Calvinism, and by this, I don't mean the formulaic kind. If God is the one Paul preached—the one of whom it can be said “of him, and through him, and to him, are all things”—then where in the universe are you going to hide your pitiful merit? If He is Almighty God, and He starts to transform your tawdry little life into something resembling Jesus, who are you to tell Him that He is now wavering on the brink of dangerous legalisms? The bottom line is that we cannot balance our notions of grace with works or our notions of works with grace. We need to get off that particular teeter totter. We have to balance absolutely everything in our lives with God Himself, who is the font of everlasting grace—real grace. Real grace is the context of everything. If we preach the supremacy of God in Christ, and the absolute lordship of that bleeding Christ, and the efficacious work of the Spirit in us who raised Jesus from the dead, then a number of other things will resolve themselves in a multitude of wonderful ways. In Jesus, we are the new humanity. Is Jesus grace or works? Jesus lives in the garden of God's everlasting favor, and we are in Him. In Christ, there are no prohibited trees. Outside Him, they are all prohibited. That means there is only one real question to answer, and it does not involve any grace/works ratios. The question is more basic than that, and has to do with the new birth.

Madison Carter turned her survivor story of emotional, psychological and physical abuse into a novel full of insight and hope. On this episode, Madison joins Dan to talk about the book and her journey from victim to survivor. "All Grace ever wanted was the normal things in life: a happy marriage, a big house, and a loving family. She never imagined her life would turn out so differently. The submissive Christian life she was asked to live left her totally dominated, oppressed, and depressed by her aggressive, controlling, and manipulative husband. She and her children were systematically crushed, and their will to thrive was snuffed out at every turn. She had no idea how to handle the insults and abuse from her husband or the isolation from her family. She never thought she’d lose her faith in God or plunge into such depths of despair. This powerful, heart-wrenching, true story of living every day with an abuser will educate readers on the serious nature of abuse, and it will show how Grace received healing and restoration after going through years of emotional abuse. It was only through God that she was able to find the strength to stand up for herself. Don’t miss out on this gripping narrative which is for anyone who has experienced emotional pain and is familiar with feelings of sadness, and who wants to find peace, joy and freedom." 05-31-20 - “1st Peter Review and a Look Forward to 2nd Peter“ - Bill J Last week JD walked through 5:1-11 Peter wrote instruction for Elders as Shepherds over God’s flock that has been entrusted to them. Shepherds: Love the Sheep - Care for the Sheep - Watch over the Sheep – Serve the Sheep! As His Shepherds we lay our life down for the Sheep. We Teach, Correct, Disciple, Mentor, Counsel, Lead, Guide, Direct, Protect, Tend to needs and Feed them. We all Humble ourselves as we relate to each other! God’s Sheep follow the Shepherd! Shepherd’s lead by example as they follow Christ. Paul said: “Follow me as I follow Christ”... ...because Jesus is our example of a Servant Leader! We all submit to the authority God has placed over us because we submit to God! Here’s the thing... You all have someone that’s following you! Looking up to you for leadership! We’re all called to go and make disciples! How will you humbly serve and disciple him or her into a closer relationship with Jesus? Isn’t that what doing life together is all about? How are we as Pastors and Elders of FBCF, shepherding you to be able to come along side your brother or sister and disciple them? Then Peter gave a warning: STAY ALERT!! Your enemy the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion seeking whom he can devour! It’s what happened to Officer Chauvin to kill George Floyd AND those involved in turning protests for justice into riots and looting! No coincidence that as covid-19 begins to bring our nation together that this happened! Stand firm against the devil! Be Strong in your faith! Understand this: In Christ, You Can!! Regardless of what it looks like on the outside, it’s all a spiritual battle! Satan knows he can’t steal your salvation, but he’s all about stealing your joy and destroying your life and your witness for Jesus! Vs10-11 ~ 10 In his kindness God called you (niv- The God of ALL GRACE called you) to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation. 11 All power to him forever! Amen. ~ Preach that prayer to yourself when you’re feeling beat down!! I absolutely love how God through His Word & by His Spirit always informs, encourages, instructs, restores, sustains and keeps us on a firm foundation that will never be shaken or fall! And that firm foundation is Jesus ~ our Lord and Savior! All power to Him forever Indeed! Let’s walk on through the last few verses of Ch 5 and I’ll throw you a few nuggets of what we’ll be getting into in 2 Peter starting next week! 1 Peter 5:12-14nlt ~ I have written and sent this short letter to you with the help of Silas, whom I commend to you as a faithful brother. My purpose in writing is to encourage you and assure you that what you are experiencing is truly part of God’s grace for you. Stand firm in this grace. 13 Your sister church here in Babylon sends you greetings, and so does my son Mark. 14 Greet each other with a kiss of love. Peace be with all of you who are in Christ. 1Peter 5:12a ~ I have written and sent this short letter to you with the help of Silas, whom I commend to you as a faithful brother. Silas ministered with Peter, and many believe he probably was the scribe for Peter writing this letter and was one of those that delivered it to the churches in Asia Minor. 1 Peter 5:12b ~ My purpose in writing is to encourage you and assure you that what you are experiencing is truly part of God’s grace for you. Stand firm in this grace. Peter recaps his purpose in writing the letter but clarifies that what they were experiencing – even in the middle of trial & persecution – is TRULY part of God’s Grace for them! It’s intended to Encourage so that you & I can walk with Assurance through whatever comes your way!
All Grace wanted was a caring man, someone to talk to and be told she matters. And to get dicked down but that's not the point. What happens when that man flips heel for ZERO fucking reason? And what if you were convicted of a murder with no dead body? WHAT DO YOU DO!? I swear Tyler Perry is the gift that keeps giving out shitty gifts but at this point its comical.

Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. 11 I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing. 12 Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.

Today's Promise for Believers is this: God will provide everything you need to participate in your new mission for his glory and your joy. 2nd Corinthians 8:1 We want you to know, brothers, about the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia, 2 for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. 3 For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord, 4 begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the saints— First I want us to notice Paul preempts his example by saying the following is a gift of grace from God among the Macedonians. Paul gives us a list of ingredients that make up that grace. But first think about this: If you’ve ever put on a bakers hat and made your favorite Sassy Momma or Ooey Gooey Butter Cake you know that some of the ingredients taste good on their own but most are unpleasant and disagreeable by themselves. Things like raw eggs, flour, baking soda, salt, unsweetened chocolate and such might make you throw up if eaten alone. Now the sugar is great… still all alone no matter how much you ate it would not match up to that mouthwatering cake you're thinking of right now. The ingredients Paul included in Gods grace were a severe test of affliction, extreme poverty and sweet joy. When those get mixed together with Gods grace a magical spontaneous combustion happens… A wealth of generosity towards others to the point of wanting to share pieces of the cake of Gods grace with others. These poverty stricken afflicted believers even begged Paul to let them participate in the mission. So wheres the Promise? Paul continues beginning in: 2nd Corinthians 9:6 The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Notice as Paul encourages the Corinthians, he adds this stipulation to their giving… they should do it cheerfully, that is as the Macedonians did. As believers we first see this principal of cheerfully giving all for Christ in initial salvation. Remember the parable about initially coming to Christ Jesus told in Matthew 13:44: “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. The Gospel is not only for initial salvation but every aspect of life. And so our giving in joy is one way we live out the Gospel every day. Check out what Paul says next! 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. Wow! Did you notice how many times Gods promise included the word “all”? All Grace, all sufficiency, in all things at all times and in every good work. When we cheerfully give in faith, God keeps his promise to spill over his extreme blessings into our life that we might be about the new mission that God has implanted in us. God knows the best blessings to give us individually for his mission. Paul just told us why God gives these blessings; it is so we may abound in every good work… it’s for Gods glory. Then in verse 11 Paul leaves no doubt as to what Gods end goal is for this promise he has given. 11 You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. Notice again the extremity of Gods promise… enriched in every way to be generous in every way! That is an amazing promise and it is accompanied by much joy. And then the ultimate end is God being glorified himself. Our joy ends in worship with thanksgiving to God. Thank You Lord for the best cake ever made in Jesus!

1. REMEMBER GOD IS SOVEREIGN, ALL POWERFUL and LOVINGSovereignty is God's control over His creation, dealing with His governance over it: Sovereignty is God's rule over all reality." – Dr. Norman GeislerO Sovereign Lord, You are He Who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything that is in them, Exo 20:11; Ps 146:6, Acts 4:24 One God Who is Above All, Sovereign Over All, pervading all and living in ALL WHO BELIEVE. Ephesians 4:6 Our God is a God who saves! The Sovereign LORD Who Rescues you from death. Psalms 68:20 I look to you for Help, O Sovereign LORD. In you do I trust, For You Are my refuge; For I know absolutely that anyone born of God, that Christ Jesus, the One begotten of God carefully watches over and protects you. Yes, Christ's Divine Presence within Him preserves you against the evil, and the wicked one does not lay hold or get a grip on you or touch you. Psalms 141:8, 1 John 5:18 The Lord has established His throne in the heavens, and His kingdom rules over all. Psalm 103:19 There is absolutely nothing that happens in the universe that is outside of God's influence and authority. As King of kings and Lord of lords, God has no limitations. God is above all things and before all things. He is the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. He is immortal, and He is present everywhere so that everyone can know Him (Revelation 21:6). God created all things and holds all things together, both in heaven and on earth, both visible and invisible (Colossians 1:16). God knows all things past, present, and future. There is no limit to His knowledge, for God knows everything completely before it even happens (Romans 11:33). God can do all things and accomplish all things. Nothing is too difficult for Him, and He orchestrates and determines everything that is going to happen in your life, in my life, in America, and throughout the world. Whatever He wants to do in the universe, He does, for nothing is impossible with Him (Jeremiah 32:17). God is in control of all things and rules over all things. He has power and authority over nature, earthly kings, history, angels, and demons. Even Satan himself has to ask God's permission before he can act (Psalm 103:19). That's what being sovereign means. It means being the ultimate source of all power, authority, and everything that exists. Only God can make those claims; therefore, it's God's sovereignty that makes Him superior to all other gods and makes Him, and Him alone, worthy of worship.2. God's sovereignty compels him to love you want the best for youThe sovereignty of God means that He has total control of all things past, present and future. Nothing happens that is out of His knowledge and control. All things are either caused by Him or allowed by Him for His own purposes and through His perfect will and timing (Romans 11:36; 1 Corinthians 8:6). He is the only absolute and omnipotent ruler of the universe and is sovereign in creation, providence and redemption." God's sovereignty compels us to bow before Him. But unlike corrupt earthly kings who abuse their authority to terrorize their subjects, God rules in love. He loves you and wants the best for you. Romans 8:28 promises that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. This is an amazing promise because it demonstrates that and ALL-POWERFUL GOD CARES ABOUT YOU AND ME, and also reveals that God must be of necessity ALL-KNOWING, ALL-POWERFUL, AND ALL LOVING. This promise is a testimony to God Sovereignty.3. God Is Always with You to Help You.So you can take comfort and be encouraged and confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my Helper; I will not be seized with alarm I will not fear or dread or be terrified. What can man do to me? Ps 27:1;118:6, Hebrews 13:6 4. God's sovereignty is the guarantee of your sufficiencyNot that we are qualified and sufficient in your own ability, to form accurate personal judgments or to claim or count anything as coming from you, but your power and ability and Sufficiency are from God. 2 Corinthians 3:5God is able to make All Grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”II Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].”2 Corinthians 9:8 Yes, you have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers you, making you ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ's Sufficiency.- Philippians 4:13 God makes these promises, to love you, make ALL THINGS WORK together for your good, to always be with you and help you, and be your sufficiency in all things.
