Matt talks with Justin Phillips (jrphillips555@gmail.com) about a fall class @ All Souls called: "Neighbor Well: Moving Toward Missional Justice through Jesus":: WHEN ::The following Sundays at 3:30pm in the Chapel:September 18September 25October 23 (skip October 2nd, October 9th & 16th)October 30 (skip Nov. 6th)November 13::WHAT::The Christian tradition marks the formal beginning of the church—those people who believed Jesus Christ was God's son, crucified and now resurrected—with the coming of the Holy Spirit described in Acts. We're told that people of different languages and backgrounds begin to hear and understand one another; the Holy Spirit has translated us (and for us) across so many divides. Soon thereafter, communities form, money and resources are shared, and this already- strange people becomes stranger still, but not strangers. Neighbors. In this course, we invite All Souls Church to consider what it means to “neighbor well.” All Souls Church is a new fixture in this neighborhood. Members have spent time listening and attempting to understand our neighbors. It seems appropriate to ask, “what's now?” How can All Souls Church seek Jesus and his kingdom for our neighborhood? This simple question requires turning back to some familiar stories, which we hope to make a bit unfamiliar in the best possible way, so we might have new eyes with which to see Jesus in our new home....Support the show

When people hurt us, attack us, and even cause and plan all kinds of evil against us, it's hard to forgive and even harder to forget. Joseph had years to think about what his brothers had done and the damaging domino effect it brought into his life. And when he was reunited with his brothers in Egypt, he had the power to get back. Joseph is amazing in his faith walk and in the way he handles this moment when he is reunited with his brothers and when he has every opportunity to get even. He doesn't get even; no, he forgives. A sermon on Genesis 50:15-26.
Paul Boyce (President & CEO of PWGC) talks with Councilman DuWayne Gregory, on the Environmental Echo, alongside Charlie Bartha (Sr. Vice President of PWGC) to discuss the various projects and environmental strides in the Town of Babylon. During this episode, Councilman Gregory recounts the many years of service he has devoted to his community to not only ensure a greener future for Long Island residents but to create a community that cares about their surroundings. This episode highlights many of the environmental difficulties the Babylon community has faced over the years and describes the responsibility that Councilman Gregory faces in upholding his ecological philosophy of doing what is right for the environment. The subject of retirement is always a hot topic among owner-ops -- the diligence it requires to set yourself up well to leave the road is such that it's not exactly easily achievable. Yet this well-matched pair of owner-operators -- Bruce and Kellie Cone of Redding, California -- have set themselves up well as they start to run out their last half-decade in business. That's the long-range plan, anyway, for the proud of owners of a pristine pair of Peterbilt 389s you'll hear all about in this edition of Overdrive Radio. It jumps off with the sound of the antique train bell that's mounted under the deck of owner-operator Kellie Cone's 2022 Peterbilt 389. The bell's activated by the in-cab switch that formerly controlled the sliding fifth wheel – which slides no longer, as you'll hear her tell. Kellie comes from an education background career-wise, originally, but several years back met Bruce and took to trucking in an outsize way originally on ridealong trips in-cab with the third-generation owner-operator. Bruce has hauled longtime for direct customers in California and Oregon, today mostly home every night after a 30-year career that took him all over the Western States and occasionally farther afield. Bruce and Kellie aren't team operators, though. Bruce's own 2020 389 replaced a 2010 that Kellie got her start in as an owner-operator before upgrading to the 2022. Both rigs we caught a close look at out at the A.J. Soza Memorial Truck Show two weeks ago in Merced, in "sunny" California, as they say. The old adage didn't disappoint -- there wasn't a drop of rain in sight for the show, and temps rose in the afternoon above 100 on the mercury. The heat, the then-specter of the AB 5 contractor law coming into play, $7-plus diesel and everything else the state has thrown at the trucking world in recent memory didn't tamp down the spirits of the owner-ops we'll hear from today. Also in the podcast: we'll hear from another owner, one in his very early days trucking – Tony Gonzalez. Like the Cones, it's clear Gonzalez has the bull by the horns, so to speak. Get a closer look at Gonzalez' rig, leased to his father's San Miguel Transportation under-10-truck small fleet, via this link: https://www.overdriveonline.com/custom-rigs/video/15293971/owneroperator-tony-gonzalez-and-his-2015-peterbilt-379

One big theme in education innovation circles is that the professional world is changing faster than ever, and so schools and colleges have to change what and how they teach to meet those changing needs. For one college in St. Louis, that means experimenting with revamping its liberal-arts curriculum, and even changing its business model.

Do you remember Stan Cottrell on a WASP episode this past summer, the 78-year old who was running across the country, 30 miles a day every day for 100 straight days? He said that he'd performed a test in which they determined he was within 0.1% of biomechanical perfection! Thus at his age, he managed to run more than a marathon every day unhampered by injury. For the rest of us not in that 0.1%, that sounds pretty miraculous, doesn't it? In fact, I'd argue that I'm in the opposite 0.1%. This is where this conversation with Dr. Andrew Fix comes in. Andrew is a doctor of physical therapy, and Board-certified in orthopedics. Actually, he has more initials after his name than anyone I have ever seen. He specializes in prevention of athletic injuries, and specializes in movement and mobility, an area in which many athletes are severely deficient, me included. Andrew has a lot of great insight and advice to dispense in this episode, so be prepared to take notes. He works at the Physio Room in Highlands Ranch, Colo., on the south side of the Denver metro area, and their Web site and YouTube channel also have a ton of very helpful videos and blog posts, some of which might become indispensable to you to stay active. I know I am constantly working on my ankle and hip mobility to try to make it intact to Leadville, so I would personally recommend you look into those exercises. Have you ever been driving and realized just a bit too late that you missed your exit? Have you ever traveled somewhere just to find that you've seen the same street corner three times, and you realize you've been going in circles? Perhaps you took the wrong turn because you were distracted by your favorite song on the radio. Or maybe your GPS routed you the wrong way. These inconveniences can be enough to forget why you started in the first place! You might veer off course or give up altogether and go home. As a business owner, these same annoyances can crop up when working to achieve your goals. How you approach your goals isn't that different from traveling! Your motivation is the fuel that powers you and gives you the focus and follow-through. Let's explore six mile-markers, or tips, to help you stay on course from start to finish. Mile Marker #1: Goals vs. Values Let's take a closer look at this traveling analogy: if a goal is like a destination, then your values are the reason to hit the road. If you don't know why you're traveling to a destination, it'll make it much harder to get there. No matter the venture, make sure that you understand why you're pursuing your goals. Check that your sales align with your core principles and values. Coordinating these will set you up with a full tank of motivation. To download my complimentary Values Clarification Exercise to help get you started on defining and getting clarity on your core values, go to https://www.accountabilitycoach.com/values-clarification/. Mile Marker #2: Picture It What does reaching your goal look like? More and more, visualization is vital for achieving goals. While you don't have to break out glue or clippings for a vision board, having a clear image in your mind is crucial to jumpstart your motivation. Taking some quality time to look inward and imagine reaching your goal can hone your focus and keep you feeling inspired to follow through. Visualizing can be the tools or methods that help you maintain motivation. Tools like calendars, Gantt charts, or spreadsheets can give you a literal vision of a goal and your progress. This also keeps your motivation burning strong. Mile Marker #3: Make Pit Stops Even long-haul truckers need to rest and refuel. In the same way, break your goals down into smaller parts to keep your energy up. When you break a massive goal down, it also feels less daunting and more manageable. It gives you a chance to celebrate the progress you've made along the way. You may be familiar with the sense of satisfaction when half your to-do list is checked off. This can create a domino effect in building up momentum, confidence, and motivation to continue to strive to reach your goals. Mile Marker #4: Say ‘No' to Multitasking There is growing evidence indicating that multitasking isn't all it's cracked up to be. In fact, juggling several tasks to save time often results in lower quality work and leaves you drained and scatter-brained. According to Happify, you've got a certain amount of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual energy to put toward a goal. Whether that means being on your feet, hunched over a desk, or managing the stress of a tight deadline all day, you've got a limited amount of energy. Make sure that you don't run on fumes just to get more done in less time. Mile Marker #5: Plan for Detours It's great to be ambitious in your goals. How else can you grow and exceed expectations? It's also worth managing ambition when working toward your goals. Acknowledging that mistakes or obstacles are possible isn't pessimistic. It's realistic. It allows room for you to have a back-up plan if things don't go exactly as expected. A big part of maintaining motivation is the sense of momentum and energy you're putting toward it. If you feel blindsided by a slip-up or unexpected turn, you may lose confidence in your abilities, your team, or even your goals. The best way to avoid this is to be mentally prepared for obstacles. Mile Marker #6: Navigate with Helpful Self-Talk Nobody likes a back-seat driver. A nagging voice criticizing your every move is enough to deplete anyone of their motivation (and cause some road rage, too). So, do yourself a favor, and don't allow this back-seat driver in your self-talk! Though it's subtle, our motivation can be significantly impacted by what we say to ourselves and how we say it. If your inner dialogue leans toward negativity, harshness, or a judgmental tone, you're probably doing more to hurt your motivation than building up the momentum to see a goal through. Bringing it All Together This last mile marker of compassionate self-talk may be the most important because it helps tie together all the tips laid out. It's also important because, as Lolly Daskal points out in Inc., “All motivation is self-motivation”. In conclusion, use one, two, or all six of these mile markers as you approach your next goal. You'll build your motivation as soon as the rubber meets the road. Trudeau and Canada Move Toward "Pre-Crime" and a Social Credit System When Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act it gave him unprecedented powers as Prime Minister. He was able to circumvent due process and the courts, compel private businesses to assist him, to detain not only the protesters but those who financially and otherwise supported the protests, and to cut them off from the modern economy. Earlier this week he revoked the Emergencies act but he and his administration made it clear that they were going to make some of the provisions "permanent". Then came the re-emergence of Bill C-36. A "pre-crime" bill in the vein of The Minority Report that allows citizens to turn each other in if they think someone may post something online with "unacceptable views" Website - https://www.cwicmedia.com
