(The Center Square) – Stocks sunk Thursday afternoon despite President Donald Trump's decision to grant major exceptions to the 25% tariffs he put on Mexico and Canada earlier this week. All three major U.S. market indexes were in the red by the time of Trump's afternoon bill signing. Trump said Thursday in the Oval Office that steel and aluminum tariffs were on track for next week without modifications. Trump shrugged off the stock losses, blaming the decline on "globalists."Support this podcast: https://secure.anedot.com/franklin-news-foundation/ce052532-b1e4-41c4-945c-d7ce2f52c38a?source_code=xxxxxxFull story: https://www.thecentersquare.com/national/article_d7e727b0-facc-11ef-934d-33617745799c.html
Hosts: Greg Skordas and Guest Host Morgan Lyon Cotti If this feels like déjà vu, we hear you. Today, President Trump announced another month-long pause in the implementation of tariffs on Mexico. The US Commerce Secretary says it's likely that tariff relief will come to both of our neighbors. The back-and-forth of it all hasn't been good for the stock market, which relies on stability. Inside Sources discusses the instability and how it’s affecting Pres. Trump’s polling.

The unemployment rate remained unchanged, though. Also, wages are still going up but not quite as fast as they have been, and not as fast as prices are rising. We talked to Christopher Low, chief economist at FHN Financial, about what to make of today’s numbers. Plus, Boeing announced it is moving its headquarters from Chicago to Arlington, Virginia. And, a painting of Marilyn Monroe by Andy Warhol could go for something like $200 million at auction next week. Art critic Blake Gopnik says the piece could very well be worth that much, but it’s misunderstood. Your donation powers the journalism you rely on. Give today to support Marketplace Morning Report.

First, Arthur talks about the Rangers returning to action after a two-week break at home tonight against the Bruins, who will be without Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand, and the recently re-retired Tuukka Rask, Adam Fox getting back into the lineup after missing a couple of games with an upper-body injury, Kaapo Kakko remaining out for at least another month, Zach Jones sliding into the left side, third pair slot opposite Braden Schneider, and how Barclay Goodrow playing on a line with Artemi Panarin and Ryan Strome impacts the bottom six. Then, Arthur dives into some of the rumors he's been hearing just about five weeks away from the NHL trade deadline, including former Rangers JT Miller and Vlad Namestnikov, Phil Kessel, Mark Giordano, Patrick Kane, and more. Plus, to close things out, Producer Chris joins the show to discuss ideal playoff matchups for the Blueshirts, whether the Rangers should welcome Vitali Kravtsov back into the fold when his KHL season ends or not, and the potential impact top-tier prospects like Brennan Othmann and Will Cuyle could have on the team's championship aspirations as early as next season.
