"What is happening here defies decency, it defies humanity, it defies the law," a UN humanitarian official said Wednesday, describing mounting horrors in Gaza as a “war without limits.” Briefing reporters in New York via video call, Jonathan Whittall, Head of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, recounted a recent mission to Rafah, where he and colleagues uncovered a mass grave containing the bodies of medics. “These were medical workers from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society and the Civil Defense, still in their uniforms, still wearing gloves, they were killed while trying to save lives,” he said. “The ambulances were hit one by one as they advanced, as they acted into Rafah.” Whittall said the site was marked by crushed emergency vehicles, including a fire truck and a UN car. The incident, he said, was only one in a “parade” of horrors. In the past two weeks alone “UN premises have been shelled with tank fire, killing one of our colleagues and seriously injuring others. We've had international aid compounds and hospitals that have been hit,” he said. “People have been bombed at food distribution points where aid workers have also been killed.” Since the collapse of a ceasefire two weeks ago, forced displacement has surged, Whittall said, with about 100,000 people fleeing Rafah in the past 48 hours alone - many under fire. “I saw some of them in the same mission that I described at the beginning... running towards us and being shot in their backs,” he said. According to OCHA, 64 percent of Gaza is now under forced evacuation. “Nowhere and no one is safe in Gaza,” Whittall said. “My colleagues tell me that they just want to die with their families. Their worst fear is to survive alone.” Whittall also spoke about a total aid blockade. “Today, unfortunately, marks one month without any supplies entering into Gaza,” he said. “That's one month of no food, no fuel, no aid, nothing has entered. So, 2.5 million people are trapped, bombed, starved.” Prime Minister Mark Carney speaks with reporters in Ottawa after chairing a virtual meeting on U.S. tariffs with Canada's premiers. Carney comments on yesterday's announcement by President Donald Trump that the United States would impose reciprocal tariffs on a host of trading partners. The prime minister announces reciprocal 25 per cent tariffs on all automobiles from the United States that are not compliant with CUSMA trade agreement. Carney says that the money raised by the retaliatory measures will go toward providing support to the auto industry and its workers impacted by the U.S. tariffs. Carney faces questions from reporters on the future of the Canada-U.S. relationship and whether he has plans to speak with President Trump again in the near term.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/policy-and-rights--3339563/support.

*) Israeli army issues new illegal evacuation orders for south Gaza The Israeli army orders Palestinians to evacuate two residential areas in southern Gaza, including locations previously designated as "safe", in preparation for a military attack. Israeli army asked residents in al-Qarara and Wadi al-Salqa to move immediately westwards. The areas identified by the army on a map attached to the statement include locations previously classified as "safe", where thousands of Palestinians now reside, including displaced individuals who were forced from their original areas and set up tents. Illegal evacuation orders are usually followed by air strikes or ground incursions by the army. *) Israel kills 17 Palestinians including mayor in central Gaza The Palestinian civil defence agency in Gaza has said Israeli strikes on the besieged enclave killed 17 people, including seven at a UN school housing displaced people. Civil Defense spokesman said there were seven people killed, including women and children, and at least 10 wounded when Israeli warplanes targeted the Al-Majida Wasila school west of Gaza City. The school was run by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees but like many such facilities, it has been turned into a makeshift shelter for those displaced by Israel's genocidal war in Gaza. *) Governance and justice key to Syria's future: Ahmad al Sharaa Meanwhile, Ahmad al Sharaa, leader of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), has emphasised the need for Syria to transition from a "revolutionary mentality to a state-centric mentality" in order to build a nation based on the rule of law and strong institutions, ensuring sustainable stability. Sharaa described the devastation across Damascus and the country, urging a well-thought-out approach to ending the ongoing tragedy. He said that efforts to overthrow the regime have been in preparation for years, underscoring the importance of building a new Syria rooted in justice and safeguarding the rights of all citizens. *) At least 39 people killed in latest twin attacks in western Niger At least thirty-nine people have been killed in two attacks in recent days in western Niger, near the border with Burkina Faso. The country's defence ministry said in a statement that two horrific tragedies happened in the communities of Libiri and Kokorou, criminals cornered by constant operations by defence and security forces launched attacks on defenceless civilian populations. The "barbaric acts" saw 21 people killed in Libiri and 18 in Kokorou, including children. *) South Korea's parliament impeaches President Yoon over martial law attempt South Korean lawmakers have impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol over his failed martial law bid, with the opposition declaring a "victory of the people". The vote took place as hundreds of thousands took to the streets of Seoul in rival rallies for and against Yoon, who launched a failed attempt to impose martial law on December 3. //The Wire//2300Z November 25, 2024////ROUTINE////BLUF: TENSIONS REMAIN HIGH THROUGHOUT EUROPE, NATO STATEMENTS RAISE CONCERNS.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-Europe: Tensions remain high throughout the continent as the diplomatic situation with regards to Russia continues to deteriorate. Germany has reportedly begun the process of examining the potential to use underground metro stations as air raid shelters in the event of war, continuing the trend throughout most European nations to reignite wartime planning efforts.A few days ago, many American legacy media outlets (mainly the New York Times) reported that the White House has considered giving Ukraine nuclear weapons as a means to dissuade Russia from using nuclear weapons on the battlefield.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: If the claims of discussions to arm Ukraine with nuclear weapons are even remotely true, and not met with an outright and immediate denial by the White House, serious escalations could be upcoming. Granted, an opinion piece by the New York Times is hardly an accurate indicator of anything at all, but due to the Biden regime's constant reliance on floating ideas unofficially through the press to test the waters, unfortunately the “unnamed officials” constantly quoted by all legacy media must be paid attention to, to some degree. Especially when exceptionally preposterous ideas that are outside the bounds of normalcy come about.Taking the idea itself out of the equation, the simple insinuation of such is exceptionally dangerous, even when shrouded in journalism. Russia would not hesitate to deploy strategic forces in a posturing role just to face-down a rumor such as this. Merely admitting to even discussing giving Ukraine nuclear weapons would be an exceptionally grave escalation at a time where both the White House is either incapable or unwilling to see the impact of their actions, but also Russia being unable to convey the seriousness of the situation to the West. Both sides simply believing the other will back down, even when both sides have proven they won't, usually results in very serious escalations on the international stage. This morning one of NATO's more senior officials, Admiral Rob Bauer (Netherlands), made headlines with his statements urging businesses throughout Europe to “be prepared for a wartime scenario”. Of course, anytime a high-ranking NATO official issues such statements, concern is distributed by legacy media. Ideas like this have been amplified following Russia's use of an IRBM in combat, along with many NATO members increasing their Civil Defense efforts. However, the most interesting facet of Adm. Bauer's statements come from the context of what he was speaking about: he was mostly speaking in terms of sabotage, cyberattacks, and energy needs. Even more specifically, he was voicing concerns regarding Russia's growing relationship with China, and that relying on a China-centric logistical enterprise may not be the best idea for business owners. He was not speaking in reference to the recent developments in Ukraine, but rather the logistical problems that will arise as Europe attempts to continue a continent-wide war…while keeping things less-kinetic than an open conflict, but also without actually admitting they are more-or-less in a state of war already.Perhaps as a way of balancing out the very serious escalations being undertaken throughout Europe, most of the negative statements and atmospherics throughout continent are purely posturing attempts by NATO to remain relevant as political regime change is carried out in the United States (and potentially in the United Kingdom via growing inklings of a general election). Russian posturing efforts remain motivated largely by their strategic goals in Ukraine, and waiting for the Trump regime to take office. The Biden regime knows this, and probably is taking the oppor

Thosaigh cuardach cuimsitheach amach ó chósta na Gaillimhe nuair nár fhill sé abhaile tar éis dó dul ag snámh ar maidin, mar ba ghnách dó. It was not long after that that it came to light that another person, a woman in her thirties, was also missing from Head Beach. Níorbh fhada ina dhiaidh sin gur tháinig sé chun solais go raibh duine eile, bean sna tríochadaí, ar iarraidh freisin ar Thrá na gCeann. The emergency services were called when she did not arrive at work as expected. Cuireadh fios ar na seirbhísí éigeandála nuair nár tháinig sí ag an obair mar a raibh súil leí. The search was carried out by the Coast Guard, the RNLI and Civil Defense teams. Chuaigh an Garda Cósta, an RNLI agus buíonta den Chosaint Sibhialta i mbun an chuardaigh. Local people and some small boats came to help in the search, by land and by sea. Tháinig daoine áitiúla agus roinnt bád beag i gcabhair ar an gcuardach, ar thír agus ar muir. A body was found in the water this afternoon near Cuan Roisín between Bearna and Bóthar na Trá, some time west of the city. Thángthas ar chorp san uisce tráthnóna gar do Chuan Roisín idir Bhearna agus Bhóthar na Trá, tamall siar ón gcathair. It is an unusual incident for two people who did not know each other to be missing from the same place, and Gardaí are trying to understand how the events of the morning unfolded.. Eachtra neamhghnáthach é beirt nach raibh aithne ar a chéile bheith ar iarraidh ón láthair chéanna, agus tá Gardaí ag iarraidh a thuiscint cé mar a thit imeachtaí na maidne amach.. It was calm weather and a calm sea in the morning, but the fog of the day hindered the search. Aimsir chiúin agus farraige chalm a bhí ann ar maidin, ach chuir ceo an lae as don chuardach. The search for the woman had to be suspended at nightfall, but will begin again at sunrise. B'éigean an cuardach don bhean a chur ar fionraí le titim na hoíche, ach tosófar ina bhun arís le héirí na gréine. Originally being an alert system for Angelenos following the attack on Pearl Harbor, civil defense sirens were a device that was meant to warn folks of an incoming disastrous event if one were to happen. Going from the angst of World War 2 to the fears of nuclear war during the Cold War, Angelenos saw more than 200 defense sirens across the town hoisted up in neighborhoods and meant to serve as a warning sign. With the sirens having been around for so long, sporting different looks, we thought it'd be worthwhile to discuss how they came to be and how their testing kept Angelenos alert in a way that was unique to the earthquake drills that exist to this day. Kim Cooper and Richard Schave, co-creators of Esotouric, a niche tour company in Los Angeles, are joining us to provide a primer on LA's civil defense sirens.

Hundreds of dead bodies were found at the Nasser Hospital's surroundings in Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Civil Defense said on Thursday. The Civil Defense announced in a press conference that since Wednesday alone, 392 bodies had been found in mass graves, many of whom had been identified as missing for weeks, while 58% of the bodies haven't been identified. Muhammad al-Mughayyir, director of the Palestinian Civil Defense in Gaza, said that some 20 bodies were buried while medical and medication tubes were still connected to their bodies, suggesting that they might have been buried alive. Al-Mughayyir added that the bodies showed signs of torture. An Early Morning Volcanic Eruption Cuts Off Hot Water

In the early hours of February 8th, a volcanic eruption north of Grindavik, not far from the famed Blue Lagoon, marked the third eruption since December, igniting concerns among locals and authorities. With the eruption's intensity waning by the evening, experts from the Icelandic Met Office suggest this latest upheaval might be fizzling out. Yet, the pattern of increasing volcanic activity has them predicting possible monthly eruptions in the near future. The Reykjanes Peninsula compared to the rest of Iceland Loss of Hot Water & The Precaution Needed with Gas Heaters In the wake of the eruption, the Civil Defense has issued urgent safety guidelines for residents using gas heating due to the lose of hot water because lava has flowed over a major hot water pipe coming from the Svartstengi power plant. They are emphasizing the importance of proper ventilation, the installation of gas detectors, and adherence to manufacturer instructions to prevent hazardous incidents. These precautions come amid a spike in gas cylinder sales in Reykjanesbær, driven by disruptions to the local hot water supply. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLd7CzXBScA&list=RDCMUCacXXvaNHJQhMYU7f77OrBA&start_radio=1The lava flow's impact extended to critical infrastructure, with the Svartsengi power line's electricity being swiftly restored thanks to effective defense measures, despite the damage to protective measures on pylons. However, the hot water crisis prompted the National Police Commissioner to declare an emergency, urging the community to conserve electricity and water as repairs to the damaged hot water pipeline are underway.Despite the volcanic disturbance, international flights remain unaffected, though the Blue Lagoon has temporarily closed its doors to visitors. As the community grapples with the immediate aftermath and the potential for future eruptions, the emphasis on preparedness and safety has never been more paramount. Gaza's hospitals are still finding themselves in a dire predicament as they grapple with a critical shortage of medical supplies. A key medical facility in northern Gaza faces an additional challenge as its main generator has gone offline.  Meanwhile, Israeli strikes continue to target the vicinity of Gaza City's al-Quds Hospital, forcing the Israeli military to urge civilians to relocate to safer areas. The escalating crisis in Gaza raises serious questions about the well-being of the population and the humanitarian consequences of the ongoing conflict. The strikes carried out by Israel were on the densely populated Jabalia refugee camp. The Civil Defense in the Hamas-run enclave called it a "second massacre. The United Nations is sounding the alarm, raising serious concerns that these strikes could constitute disproportionate attacks that could amount to war crimes.  Meanwhile in Washington, President Joe Biden expressed support for a humanitarian pause to facilitate the release of more hostages.
