Do you wonder how best to balance your spiritual longings while honouring our ordinary human life? Here, Manjunaga offers reflections on the tendency to skip over the messy bits of ourselves (aka spiritual bypassing) as occupational hazard in the spiritual life. Shari is outspoken and passionate about her faith and family. Shari and her husband, Matt, have been married for twenty-five years and raise two boys together. SCRIPTURE: (NKJV unless noted) “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?' or ‘What shall we drink?' or ‘What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:25-34 “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1Thessalonians 5:16-18 BOOKS BY SHARI RIGBY: Consider the Lilies Consider The Lilies: 40 Day Devotional Beautifully Flawed LINKS: Paul's Promise The Women In My World Shari Rigby MOMS IN PRAYER New to Moms in Prayer? Welcome to another great edition of Po Politickin. In this episode, we politick with Milwaukee, Wisconsin emcee Signif. Signif is an uniquely talented emcee who chooses to channel the ART of Hip-Hop in her songs rather than the hype that surrounds the “prototype” of the female emcee. The New York resident, born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was frst turned on to Hip-Hop by her older brothers. At age 8, her love for the music was explored through written expression and her poetic musings progressed to an active participation in Freestyling. Starting in 2009 with Beautifully Flawed, an EP that would introduce her to the game as a viable artist, followed by The Transition in 2010,when people really started to take notice and recognize her as someone who could add something fresh to the Hip-Hop landscape. Helping to keep the ball rolling forward in 2010, she released a remix project as well as several clean and crisp music videos produced by Alphabang Productions. In 2011 and 2012, Signif released both Significant Wizdom and Significant Wizdom II: Atypical, respectively. After hitting off 2013 opening for Jean Grae and Pharoahe Monch, Signif recently returned from an international tour in France and is currently working on her 5th solo project, titled Friction.
