The Old Testament's book of Ezekiel mentions precious stones like beryl, carbuncle, diamonds, emeralds and more. This means that these stones were likely available in the Middle East where the Scriptures were written. Also, the books of Job, Isaiah and others also mentions jewels. So where are these precious stones? Well, at this year's National Religious Broadcasters convention in Orlando, a company called Holy Gems displayed some of the jewelry they've made using the precious stones excavated in the land of Israel. The search for these stones took decades, and the man who began the search didn't live to see them unearthed. But his daughter did. On this episode of Lighthouse Faith podcast, Tali Shalom Taube, the CEO of Holy Gems, is joined by Shari Rigby, well-known veteran actress from the Kendrick Brothers film Overcomer. They talk about their collaboration on the Holy Gems project, bringing the jewels to the market, and producing a faith-based documentary about the discovery. Learn more about your ad choices. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?  Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?' or ‘What shall we drink?' or ‘What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:25-34   “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1Thessalonians 5:16-18   BOOKS BY SHARI RIGBY: Consider the Lilies Consider The Lilies: 40 Day Devotional Beautifully Flawed   LINKS: Paul's Promise The Women In My World Shari Rigby   MOMS IN PRAYER New to Moms in Prayer? Today on the podcast we have the wise and wonderful, Alli Worthington. Alli is a speaker, an author, a fellow podcaster, as well as a wife and Mom of FIVE boys (she gives me a little pep talk about raising my one because, Jesus, take the wheel lol). Her most recent book Standing Strong: A Woman's Guide to Overcoming Adversity and Living with Confidence is probably my favorite non-fiction book I’ve read this year. It's a powerful word about leaning in to who the Lord is, and standing strong in HIM. That does NOT mean depending on something else we need to muster up to make it through, it's about truly living the lives He made us for by His strength.  Alli and I also talk about how being a hard worker, and a purposeful steward of what has been entrusted to us, is different from the break neck hustle of living out of our own limited supply that was never created to carry such things outside of God’s endless portion of provision. We dive deep into that as well as how covid has changed so much, but also how nothing about God’s plans for us has changed.  If you need to hear a powerful word of empowerment in who you still are despite how this all feels, encouragement about who God is, no matter how it all looks right now, then this episode is for you. Today is the final episode of our very first season! I can hardly believe it! The Lord is so funny, because as you may or may not remember, the very first episode was my interview with the absolutely amazing Shari Rigby, and she is back for our season finale episode today!   In our first conversation, we talked about her experience acting in the movie, “Overcomer,” and how powerful the message of that movie on identity created such a timely ripple effect in her, and since then, she has written a powerful book called Consider the Lilies: Get Rooted in Your Destiny By Discovering God’s Plan. Shari is back today to tell us about this journey and the heart of her book. Shari is a woman who overflows with zeal and love for the Lord and His word. Shari shares about the pursuit of overcoming confusion and moving to clarity through diving into God’s word. We discuss battling for our identity by being grounded in who God says we are, instead of who the world says we are, because the world’s defining identifying factors are insatiable. When we know Whose we are, we can press into what we were made for. We also discuss a concept she unpacks in her book, where we look to scripture to differentiate purpose, calling, gifts and talents.  Every single time I listen to this conversation, I feel so much more full than how I started. There is a campaign against you, and the Kingdom of God, to maim our identity, distract us from our purpose, make us doubt our calling, keep us from cultivating our talents, and to keep us in the dark about the gifts God gives us by His Spirit, as well as the weapons He provides for us to do all the fighting with.I feel like this conversation is the pep talk we need for where we are in 2020, but honestly, whenever you hear this, it's a pep talk for the ages.  The Lord is not finished with us, friends. Not even a little bit. Let’s take heart, and press in to the Holy Ground where He has placed us for such a time as this. It matters, dear one. You matter. Your story matters. Shari has also set us up SO well for season 2 and I can’t wait to tell you more about that! Next week, we’ll kick off season 2 with a special guest and me looking back at what God has done, and looking forward to where He’s leading us next, so be sure you are subscribed and you don’t miss out! Today’s conversation is with actor, writer, director and producer Kevin Downes. Kevin has been part of the film industry in these various roles over the last 20 years and has most recently been a part of movies like “Woodlawn,” “Mom’s Night Out,” and “I Can Only Imagine.” His most recent project in partnership with the Erwin Brothers, is called “I Still Believe,” starring: KJ Apa, Britt Robertson, Shania Twain, and Gary Sinise. This beautiful movie tells the story of Christian artist Jeremy Camp’s life and faith journey as he faced incredible heart ache, and also incredible hope.  Who would have thought that when Kevin and I had this conversation just a couple of weeks ago, what the world would look like today. Kevin and I talk all about following God in your calling, and the value of stewarding stories that highlight the truth that we don’t know what will happen, but His hope and his love are big enough to take our questions. Right now, we are in the throws around the world of a time that feels incredibly uncertain and unknown. Many of us feel completely out of control, are struggling to see how this is all going to pan out and feel trapped in a sea of uncertainty. Dear ones, look around and press in to the stories around you. Take this opportunity to ask God to show you how to weather this wilderness we are ALL walking in, and support and spur one another on. Even as we take a steps back, that doesn’t mean we have to live totally isolated. We can press in from a far. We can look more fully into the faces of the ones in our homes. And together, we will cling to His promises. One of my current favorites is this: “I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.” Isaiah 42:16 Take care of yourselves, take care of each other. You matter. We all matter.  Since the recording of this episode, almost all the theaters across the U.S. have decided to close in order to protect people in light of the covid-19 pandemic. BUT, this conversation still couldn’t be more timely. AND praise the Lord, when the movie came out, it had an incredible opening weekend at the box office! If you have a way to go see it, GO! You will not regret it. If not, hang out with us here on the podcast today, and pray for all of the industries affected by the pandemic. We are all walking in ways we have not known before, but we are not walking alone.  Find ways to connect with Kevin, the movie, references from the podcast below. ---- References:  Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, CA Erwin Brothers “I Can Only Imagine” Jeremy Camp “Woodlawn” “I Still Believe” (the song) KJ Apa Nashville tornados Shari Rigby’s episode of the Simply Stories Podcast “Overcomer” “I Still Believe” (the movie) Check your local theaters on whether or not they are open due to the covid-19 pandemic.  Scripture References:  John 17:16- In the world not of it Matthew 18:12- Leave the 99, the parable of the lost sheep Ephesians 4:14- Not being tossed by the wind Romans 8:28-He works all things for good John 2:1-11-Water into wine Psalm 34:18- He’s close to the broken-hearted Psalm 30:1-5- Joy comes in the morning Esther 4:14- For such a time as this Deuteronomy 31:6- He will never leave us or forsake us Connect with the “I Still Believe” movie: Website  Facebook, Twitter, Instagram Hashtag: #IStillBelieve Connect with Kevin:  Facebook Twitter Instagram Connect with Emily & catch up on the Simply Stories Podcast:  Instagram Facebook Blog Sign up for our newsletter!
