The ABMP Podcast | Speaking With the Massage & Bodywork Profession
A school administrator and massage therapist wants guidance on how to respond to a student who is reluctant to work with clinic clients who report a history of herpes. Is this a significant risk for massage therapists? The reality is that anyone with a history of herpes simplex can shed the virus intermittently, even without visible symptoms. However, the risk to massage therapists who follow proper hygiene and self-care protocols is extremely low. In that sense, herpes falls into the same category as other infections that may be transmitted through direct contact but are effectively managed with consistent hygienic practices. The key issue is not the client's infection status; it is the therapist's adherence to appropriate hygiene protocols. Resources: Ang, J.Y. et al. Send us a textIn part four of our Love Thy Neighbor series, we explore the bold witness of Phineas Bresee, before he ever founded the Church of the Nazarene. As a young Methodist pastor in the tense years before the Civil War, Bresee stood in a pulpit draped with the American flag and called slavery what it was: sin. To him, it wasn't about politics, it was about the gospel. This sermon challenges us to see that God's holiness is not passive. It names sin, confronts injustice, and calls us to live with integrity and compassion. From ancient laws in Leviticus to modern struggles like human trafficking, economic injustice, and exploitation, we discover that holiness isn't about staying "clean" by avoiding messy situations, it is about stepping into them with redemptive love.Join us as we ask: Where is God calling us today to stand for the vulnerable, confront systems of sin, and reflect the radical love of Jesus?Other Episodes in this series:Leftover & Left BehindHonesty & HospitalityLove & LoyaltySin & Slavery Foreign & FriendLinkoln shares his story on why he started coming to Ravenna Church of the Nazarene and shares why you should consider doing the same.Ravenna Church of the Nazarene530 Main Street, Ravenna, KY 40472Support the showThe Dirt Path Sermon Podcast is a place for real sermons that speak to real life. How could it be that one can feel better about the New Orleans Saints following a 16-10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday than after the win over the Arizona Cardinals last week? It's easy: Preseason scores don't matter, but the play from the first teamers do. Not only was quarterback Derek Carr much better this week, but so was the offensive line, and more specifically, tackle Trevor Penning. The play calling from offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak might have showed a glimpse into what to expect for the regular season with a heavy dose of Taysom Hill, Jamaal Williams and the run game. Also, the first-team defense was dominating, and tackle Bryan Bresee is the most improved player on the team thus far. Host Jim Derry talks to and with the audience, and we hear clips from Coach Dennis Allen, Carr and Bresee on the Dattitude Podcast (Ep. 268) presented by Evangeline Securities. It's also time for “Mondays with Gabe Henderson,” and Jim finishes the show with his “Extra Point,” honoring the life of New Orleans sports media icon Ed Daniels, who passed away Friday.
