It was another rivalry clash, and possibly the last regular-season meeting, between the Miami Hurricanes and Florida Gators. Was it a pretty game? No. But Miami's defense was pretty freaking good, allowing not one Gator conversion on third down. What happened to the offense? Was it Shannon Dawson? Was it Carson Beck? Was it Mario Cristobal? Was it the Florida Defense? We answer that question. In segment two, the boys tackle a few topics. They talk about Rueben Bain and Anez Cooper's post-game antics. They tackle the now-crazy expectations of Miami and the love they are getting from the national media. We ask an important question: Do Clemson fans know that Clemson is Clemsoning once again? We take a trip to Indiana, where former Columbus product and former Cal QB, Fernando Mendoza, is lighting it up for the Hoosiers. Could he be an offseason target for Miami in the portal? Finally, we have a quick chat about the game coming up in two weeks in Tallahassee. It looks to be another prime-time, Game Day game between Miami and Florida State (after a bye week). The conversation around the 2025 college football season has centered on a few players — mostly new starting quarterbacks — but there are plenty of potentially great players we're not talking about. Today, they're in the spotlight.(0:00-0:59) Intro(1:00-9:22) Players we're not talking about: Ryan Wingo, Cam Coleman(9:23-11:50) Story Time(11:51-17:23) Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed(17:24-24:36) How good can Oregon be this year?(24:37-31:38) Miami's Outlook, Rueben Bain Jr.(31:39-35:10) Jadan Baugh at Florida(35:11-36:18) Nic Anderson, LSU(36:19-39:42) Max Klare at Ohio State(39:43-40:55) Where does JP Pickles play?(40:56-44:03) Dylan Raiola at Nebraska(44:04-45:43) Who do we talk about the most?(45:44-46:11) Conclusion: Happy Memorial Day! Ari believes Auburn receiver Cam Coleman could be a breakout star. He also thinks Miami edge rusher Rueben Bain could be a force now that he's fully healthy. Andy thinks Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed has been lost in the shuffle with all the talk about new starting QBs in the SEC. Reed will be the leader of Team Chaos, so he could play a very important role this season. Andy and Ari agree that Oregon safety Dillon Thieneman is a huge key to the Ducks' portal reload. The Miami Hurricanes are expected to be one of the more aggressive teams when it comes to seeking difference makers in the Transfer Portal. The portal will be opening on Tuesday, April 16th. Miami likely feels urgency to surround quarterback Cam Ward with the best team possible and a sense of confidence in Ward's ability to attract top talent to Coral Gables. The Hurricanes are reportedly interested in seeking top playmakers at running back, cornerback, safety, receiver, and defensive line. Host Alex Donno breaks down top running backs like Oregon State's Damien Martinez and North Carolina's Omarion Hampton. Martinez has already declared for the portal. With Hampton, it may not happen, but there have been rumors. Donno explains how many players will likely leave Miami through the portal and lists some players he hopes the Hurricanes can keep, including QB Jacurri Brown and RB TreVonte' Citizen. Pro Football Focus Analyst Max Chadwich joins the show. Max would consider Miami's Rueben Bain to be a top five NFL Draft prospect at defensive end if he was eligible. Bain is not eligible for the NFL until the end of the 2025 season, thankfully. Chadwick tells Donno where he ranks Miami players Cam Ward, Xavier Restrepo and Kiko Mauigoa heading into next year's NFL Draft. The Miami Hurricanes put full pads on for the first time this spring on Thursday morning. The physicality was up and the battles between receivers and defensive backs in one on one drills were competitive. Xavier Restrepo and Mishael Powell were going head to head as usual with both winning some of the drills. Quarterback Cam Ward continues to throw deep with excellent tough and arm strength. Receivers Jacolby George and Ray Ray Joseph made some excellent plays. Host Alex Donno was impressed by seeing running back TreVonte' Citizen endure some contact in full pads. He has missed his first two college seasons with injury but is working his way back nicely. Chris Johnson Jr. also excelled at running back. Tight End Riley Williams had a good day of practice. Donno plays some comments after practice from defensive line coach Jason Taylor, who spoke about the work ethic of Rueben Bain and explained how the newcomers on the DL are fitting in. Miami has added transfers CJ Clark, Marley Cook and Elijah Alston through the Transfer Portal. The Hurricanes also have true freshman edge rusher Marquise Lightfoot playing well in practice.Join our LOCKED ON CANES INSIDERS texting community and chat with host Alex Donno any time by clicking this link: https://joinsubtext.com/lockedoncanes. Linebacker Raul “Popo” Aguirre has been shining in practice. There are also other candidates like receivers Ray Ray Joseph and Robby Washington, defensive back Damari Brown, or edge rusher Jayden Wayne. Host Alex Donno breaks down these sophomore risers and also discusses Miami veterans who are improving their stock heading into next year. Donno believes that players like left tackle Jalen Rivers, tight end Elijah Arroyo, and defensive lineman Jared Harrison-Hunte are continuing to improve.
