His research has appeared in more than two dozen empirical journals, been featured by the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, CNN, Wired, and National Public Radio, among many others, and has been funded by the National Science Foundation and the Templeton Foundation. In this episode, Crewman Geekovich performs a task. With results he is quite proud of.
Restoring Truth and COMMON SENSE to the public discourse. In this show, Pete and Teresa ask ... Was Biden taking little blue pills for his bizarre too long presser? Did the Bumbler-in Chief give Putin a green light to invade Ukraine? Why isn't Biden red faced about his absolutely catastrophic failures this past year? Didn't you expect him to double down on all his black lies?

In this week's pod we get a little stir crazy, talk jargon, discuss parkrun nicknames as well as the 'parkrun laughs' nicknames, emoji our dream parkrun, have your arbitraries, stats and (not)stats and somehow still manage to talk about parkrun even in its absence.

What’s the deal with how choppy this Nabokov book is? Is the character of Pnin actually the target of a faculty conspiracy? Or is the real conspiracy the fact that David is secretly employed as a salesman for the word-a-day industry? Join Nick, Nathan, and David for another rousing discussion on Vladimir Nabokov, this time on the (sometimes) beloved Pnin. And don’t worry, even if they may be a bit critical, many a failed attempt at reading Nabokov passages out loud proves who the real master is. Dude’s got some killer words in his employ, amirite?
Mark Twain once wrote, “ten thousand River Commissions, with the mines of the world at their back, cannot tame that lawless stream, cannot curb it or confine it.” These words are immortalized in his book Life on the Mississippi, and it’s no argument the prolific author had a close relationship to the Mississippi River. But in a way, his warning has been lost with time. The Mississippi River is more constricted than ever by levees and flood protection measures. In some areas, agriculture and levee districts have raised their levees beyond authorized heights. If there is a severe flood, their land would stay dry while other places across the river, upstream, or downstream could experience up to 1.5 feet of extra water. This is an equity issue, one that must be told through the people affected by unlawful levees from their neighbors. On this episode of Stories from the Floodplain, join PRN staff member and host Ryan Grosso as he journeys to Hannibal, Missouri, to hear from people who are fearful of an age of ‘levee wars.’ Supplement Audio: The Valley of the Giant - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Life on the Mississippi - John Greenman, Librivox Music: Mississippi River Blues - Tommy Duncan and his Western All-Stars Purple Planet Music (https://www.purple-planet.com) “Bumbler” by Andy G. In this episode, Jeremy Long stops by to help me diagnose a contentious Bumble conversation that ended abruptly. But Jeremy, being the improv master that he is, gives a perfect follow-up response for this under-sexed bumbling Bumbler in hopes that he'll fix this relationship and turn it into something real.Next, we announce last week's winner of the #TextualChallenge where Healers had to initiate online conversation with potential matches using only the rules provided for that specific week. Last week was "You are now a rapper." Listen to how smooth and funny that convo is.Later, Jeremy and Anthony discuss the differences between stand-up, improv, and sketch comedy, and which he prefers over the others.Want to join the Textual Healing Facebook group? Hile Gunslingers of the DTP Extended Ka-Tet. As the wait for the film moves to it's final stages Tadd and Peter come together to talk about all the news and cover some emails. June 19th IGN gave us an interview with Nikolaj Arcel talking about the upcoming film. Forbes chimes in with an article about why The Dark Tower might be similar to Wonder Woman. The BET Awards gave us a Behind the Scenes/teaser with a few new nuggets and some words from some heavy hitters. Also an article looking into how the sausage is made with MRC is covered. So grab your Nozz-A-La and curl up with your Bumbler and enjoy the new Palaver. Engage DTP through social media, or email to be part of the show, and subscribe to the new YouTube Channel where we live stream the shows.
We hear it before we are born. Before the first air rushes into our tiny lungs, before the first light refracts into our blinking, baby eyes, our mother tongue is already resident, dreamlike in our waiting minds. In America, the mother tongue for most of us is English. But for millions of us baby Americans, those comforting vibrations our mothers pour over us have other names, like Spanish or Portuguese or Mandarin. Bilingual mothers have a choice to make. Sometimes they chose their own mother tongue to speak to their babies. Other times they chose their adopted language. And sometimes, looking back, they wish they had done things differently. This is a story of one of those mothers. A shout out to America’s language teachers. The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (I love their acronym ACT-Full) and its Lead with Languages campaign encourages bilingualism for all. This episode was written by Steve Leveen, and producer Fernando Hernández who also does sound design and mixing. Hile DTP Ka-Tet, Tadd and Peter come together and discuss the latest news which include CinemaCon where the TRAILER WAS SHOWN! Sadly the trailer still has not been released for the rest of us to see. So Tadd and Peter read through the many descriptions of the footage/trailer and get a pretty good picture not only of what was scene but how it was received. The articles about the footage came from both fans of The Series and newbies so much is learned from this. As well as they talk about ANOTHER DELAY in the film's release! They talk about what this delay means and how it impacts the outlook for the film. As well as a pathetic lawsuit against Uncle Stevie because of The Dark Tower Series. There is also some new Dark Tower Merchandise coming in the fall. As well as a return of the extended Ka-Tet by way of emails! So snuggle up with your Bumbler and enjoy this jam packed show! Engage with DTP on Social Media to Palaver between shows. Also check out the show notes at DarkTowerPalaver(dot)com for links to all the articles and pictures mentioned in this podcast.
