Know what a middling racing film needs? A spy-centric sequel. Not convinced? Nah, few were. Least of all one of our VIPs, who has asked us to fix this busted up instalment. But in order to fix it we need to do a bit of gymnastics to factor in Cars 3. Let's slide into pole position and get to it. Cars 2 is for everyone who dared to ask the question “what if cars were spies?” and absolutely no one else. Setting aside the absurdity of different types of vehicles racing in a single class world championship, the Pixar Pals draw the line at this film wasting the voice talents (and precious training time) of motorsport GOAT Lewis Hamilton. Watch if you must, but be warned that there are no winners in this race. (Literally - it just ends.) The post PP12 – Cars 2 (2011) appeared first on PodCavern.

What's better than Cars? Well it certainly isn't Cars 2. Oscar and Carl struggle to get through the plot as there are too many questions about this universe, but they do it so they can figure out who would watch this.

We're still another week away from the Escape From Vault Disney 100th Episode Spectacular, in which we cover Beverly Hills Chihuahua, but in the meantime here's the spine-shattering conclusion of a two-part interview that frequent guest Luke Ski conducted with host Tony Goldmark back in April! We talk about some of the movies on Disney+ that haven't been covered on the show yet, including an extremely lengthy digression on the merits, or lack thereof, of the infamous Cars 2. PLUS! A State of the Parks segment on the recently-announced Figment movie in development!
Punt.
We had to take a break this week due to some scheduling issues, so let's re-live one of Doug's all-time great meltdowns. We talked about probably the worst Pixar movie to ever exist. It's Cars 2! Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022. Visit acast.com/privacy for more information.

If you're gonna spy, you better spy hard. Before the release of Lightyear, Kevin Parker fires up his engine to defend the movie that is *by far* the worst-reviewed and received Pixar movie, 2011's Cars 2. While not defending it as a masterpiece, Kevin believes the Mater-driven car spy movie is easily the best entry in the much-maligned franchise. We go deep into the more creative world-building, the improved protagonist, the Cronenbergian body horror of these movies, their weirdly conservative undertones, and make fun of Lightning McQueen for just being a terrible character.

Cars 2 fails to answer a question it poses not once, but at least three times: what was the make and model of Car Jesus? There is a Popemobile. There is an English monarchy. The heads of the Catholic and Anglican churches appear in this film, and I'm NOT supposed to wonder ab out Car Jesus? You mean I'm just supposed to focus on the CAR MURDERS? OH OK FINE I GUESS? We did it folks. We managed to put off watching Cars 2 for a second time for 100 episodes! To celebrate we decided to... watch Cars 2? Aw dang. We really messed this whole thing up. That's right folks, the Ka-Chat boys are at it again, this time going over this movie with a fine toothed comb. Did Mater almost kill Luigi once? Do we feel any differently about the portrayal of the Lemons? And do Sally and Flo have some sort of... wheel fetish?
Listen in as Luca and Nate slowly lose their minds while discuss the bizarre follow up to Pixar's Cars.
We have Noah's Brother, David Stalcup, on the show as a guest star. The only really notable thing about him is that he is a mechanic. With that in mind I thought it would be funny to have them review Cars 2, a (mostly) universally unliked film. To my surprise, they were both super excited to get to watch and review this film. Figures.
