You see, the Ray FF1600 is a low-powered, momentum-based, open-wheel machine that doesn't mask your mistakes. It magnifies them. And Oran Park? A beloved Australian track that no longer exists in the real world, but is alive and well in our virtual playground. It's got elevation changes, technical challenges, and corner types that demand precision, patience, and rhythm.Together, they create the perfect test lab for anyone looking to build bulletproof consistency and refine racecraft. So let's fire up the sim and get into it, one corner—and one technique—at a time.Shows E-mail: theloneroadiracerspodcast@gmail.comYouTube VLOG: https://youtu.be/dLXWsLHtlTEFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61554966076972 DRE 10% off: https://getdre.app/loneiracerN.B: Intro & Outro music by Udio AI music GeneratorSupport the show

One is a masterclass in Italian hybrid engineering; the other, a sweeping circuit born in the South Australian outback with global ambitions.First up, we head Down Under to The Bend Motorsport Park, a track that's quickly earned a reputation as one of the most dynamic circuits in the world. From its sprawling International layout to the technical East and West circuits, The Bend brings a fresh challenge to sim racers. Long straights, complex braking zones, and fast-flowing sequences—it's a track that demands respect and rewards precision. Then the Ferrari 296. It's not just another prancing horse—it's a revolution on wheels. Ferrari's first rear-wheel drive hybrid GT car blends a screaming twin-turbo V6 with electric precision, redefining how we think about speed, power, and agility. We'll explore its road-going roots, the race-spec 296 GT3, and how it stacks up against GT3 mainstays in iRacing. It's fast, it's furious, and it's surprisingly refined. But does it have what it takes to dominate the sim?Together, these two additions aren't just content updates—they're game-changers. Whether you're a GT3 warrior looking for your next ride or an iRacer who loves learning every inch of a new circuit, this episode will have something for you.So buckle in—because today, we're merging passion and precision, Maranello and South Australia, horsepower and handling—all on the Lone Road.Let's get started.Shows e-mail: theloneroadiracerspodcast@gmail.comYouTube VLOG: https://youtu.be/HwQqbaUU0I0Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61554966076972 10% off DRE: https://getdre.app/loneiracerN.B: Intro & Outro music by Udio AI music GeneratorSupport the show
Comment on the show?..send me a text!Welcome to The Lone Road iRacers Podcast. I'm [Your Name], and today, we're stepping away from our usual breakdowns of track guides, update analyses, and hardware debates. Instead, we're going to ask a question that hits a little deeper:Why do we race on iRacing? At first glance, it's simple. We race because we love motorsport. But the real answer? It's layered. Emotional. Personal.Because if you've ever found yourself prepping for a race like it's a Grand Prix, or felt your heart pound on a quali lap, or replayed a close finish for days… you know this sim is more than just pixels and physics. It's a part of who we are.So today, it's just me and you. Let's spend the next 40 or so minutes diving deep into what really drives us — mentally, emotionally, and maybe even spiritually — when we hit that race button.Grab your favourite beverage, settle in, and let's talk about the reason behind the racing.Shows e-mail: theloneroadiracerspodcast@gmail.comYouTube Vlog: https://youtu.be/PTRA_R_S3pQFacebook: Facebook Link: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61554966076972N.B: Intro & Outro music by Udio AI music GeneratorSupport the show

Well if that was the last Grand Prix at Imola for the forseeable future, it didn't leave us with a sour taste in the mouth and while it wasn't a classic race it was still better than some of the parades we've had round the circuit for the last 5 years since F1 made a return there in the patched together 2020 season. This week we take a look back at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, the first of 2 Italian races this season and the start of the European races to boot. Could McLaren and in particular Oscar Piastri keep up their dominant form from the first quarter of the season, now we're not flying away as much, or with the appearance of a few upgrades (as is traditional at this time of year), would we see more than the papaya cars in the mix?The answer was both sort of yes and sort of no as Max Verstappen spoiled the papaya party this week by completely turning around a RedBull that he wasn't overly keen on up to Saturday afternoon to pull out his most Max-like performances of the season so far. After "that move" on turn 2, there was seemingly no stopping him from running away with it. Especially when McLaren decided to let their drivers race rather than try to strategise a win!Obviously we're as tangent heavy as always (for some reason that you'll hear) and we've ended up with Franz Ferdinand as our featured band of the week (when did this become a music pod?) And as a bonus, while he's not here this week, Dan has promised to be on more shows this year!If you want to join in with the chat during the races (along with practice and qualifying) head over to our Discord where there's always a great crowd of people to watch along with. Comment on the show?..send me a text!Hey everyone, welcome back to The Lone Road iRacers Podcast! I'm your host, Guy Robertson — and today, we're digging into one of the biggest truths about iRacing that every sim racer eventually learns:Winning is hard. Really hard. No matter what car, what track, or what series you're in — getting that first-place finish takes a massive amount of work, patience, and, yeah — a little bit of luck too.In today's episode, we're taking a deep dive into two big ideas: First — why winning in iRacing is so difficult across every discipline. Whether you're racing GT cars, stock cars, sprint cars, or rallycross beasts, the challenges are real, and we're going to talk about what makes the path to victory so demanding. Then — we'll go even deeper. We're asking the spicy question: Which iRacing discipline is actually the hardest one to win in?Is it road racing with its precision demands? Is it ovals with their insane pack dynamics? Is it dirt with its wild, ever-changing surfaces? Or is it something even tougher?I'll break down the skill ceilings, the randomness, the racecraft battles, and I'll share which one I personally think takes the crown as the toughest battleground in iRacing. We've also got tips from listeners on how they finally got over the hump and grabbed that first win — and trust me, their advice is gold.So settle in, strap up, and let's hit the Lone Road — because today, we're talking about what it really takes to cross that finish line first.Shows e-mail: theloneroadiracerspodcast@gmail.comYouTube Vlog: https://youtu.be/GPueSZJYfKEFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61554966076972 10% off DRE: https://getdre.app/loneiracerSupport the show
Florida is known for orange things, mainly oranges. But this weekend it was a slightly different shade that captured all the headlines in Miami as we saw a hugely dominent showing from the Papaya clad McLaren team at the Miami Grand Prix weekend. Taking the top 2 steps on the podium in both the Sprint and Grand Prix races showed that this season the comeback is fully on!This week on the pod we take a look at the Maimi GP raced round the car park of the Hard Rock Stadium, home of the Miami Football Franchise (well that's what it said on the official F1 shirts anyway) where Lando & Oscar traded wins across Friday and Saturday with just about everyone else as an also-ran.There's the usual team by team review and look at what the F1 news is at the moment and what will probably come out after this pod's released (come on Tuesday, show us what you've got) with all the speculation from the aftermath of his lap 1 exit that we may have seen the last of Jack Doohan for now in an Alpine.Expect the usual tangents as well and also the return of Dan while Kieren is sunning himself touring the breweries of California! (Not a joke, that's actually what he's doing on holiday this week)If you want to join in with the chat during the races (along with practice and qualifying) head over to our Discord where there's always a great crowd of people to watch along with. Comment on the show?..send me a text! Welcome back to the Lone Road iRacers Podcast with me your host Guy Robertson. We have 2 topics on todays podcast: We're diving into something every iRacer faces sooner or later — losing iRating. Yep, it stings. But here's the good news: it's not the end of the road — not even close. In fact, it might just be the beginning of a big comeback. We're going to talk about why it feels so personal, how it can mess with your head, and — most importantly — how you can turn it all around and get back to loving your time behind the wheel. We'll also dive into one of the most overlooked but crucial elements of becoming a faster, more consistent iRacer: effective practice. Not just "turning laps," but practicing with purpose. We'll explore how to build a structured training routine, what elements you should focus on (racecraft, qualifying, setups, mental preparation), how to track your progress, and why the smartest drivers treat practice like serious athletes. Plus, we'll talk about how to avoid burnout and make practice sessions both efficient and fun. With our resident ginger still away, I've teamed up with Scrag and Casey from Road to Racer to explore a hobby that's captured the interest of gamers and racing enthusiasts alike. Join us as Casey shares his journey into sim racing, a path that began unexpectedly when his wife brought home a Logitech shifter. Discover how this initial curiosity evolved into a daily passion, fueled by the immersive nature of racing simulations. We delve into the technical aspects of the hobby, discussing the setup costs, equipment evolution, and the surprising affordability for those just starting out. Together with Scrag, who's also navigated this digital racing landscape, we compare their setups and experiences. They share insights on popular platforms like iRacing, Assetto Corsa, and Automobilista, each offering unique challenges and opportunities for racers at all levels. We also tackle the community dynamics, highlighting both the supportive and competitive nature of sim racing enthusiasts. Throughout the discussion, we explore the progression system within these games, how real-life racing dynamics are integrated into simulations, and the fine balance between entertainment and competitive realism. Whether you're a seasoned driver or a curious gamer looking to expand your horizons, this episode provides a comprehensive overview of sim racing as a growing digital sport. As we conclude, Casey tells us about his plans to engage more with physical racing events and the exciting potential for collaborations with racing sponsors. After the fairly restrained Japanese Grand Prix we needed a bit of a plate cleanser and that's exactly what Bahrain served up to us for out 2nd race in the Gulf this season. A dominant win for McLaren's Oscar Piastri , but eith more FIA based chaos hiding beneath the surface. This week on the podcast we look at the Bahrain Grand Prix which saw a huge number of technical gremlins strike several teams, and some very strange and late calls from the stewards, which ened up ahving a negative effect on a few driver's races. It all kicked off on Saturday when Nico Hulkenberg's best Q1 lap time was deleted during Q3, but the problem was he'd already taken part in Q2 when it turned out he shouldn't have actually got through, this had a knock on effct on Alex Albon, who should then have made the 2nd session with a car that team principle James Vowles claimed had th pace for Q3.It didn't get much better from there as we had timing failures, George Russell able to open his DRS manually and by mistake (when he wqas trying to use the radio) and who knows what else. As usual there's our team by team review and the expected sheload of tangents! If you want to join in with the chat during the races (along with practice and qualifying) head over to our Discord where there's always a great crowd of people to watch along with. That about sums up 2 of the 3 most interesting things about the Japanese Grand Prix this weekend. The other one was, of course, Max Verstappen's blistering Q3 lap for pole position. But there was fire aplenty at trackside and you've got to feel for Isack Hadjar after his seatbelts were causing him grief in what Top Gear would describe as "The Gentleman's area"This week on the pod we try and make up things to say about one of the dullest Japanese GP's we've had the pleasure of sitting through, it was the first race outside of Monaco where the top 6 on the grid were the top 6 by the end of the race and that stat would have gone further down the order had Lewis not passed Hadjar's Racing Bull to break the tedium (we're really selling this episode aren't we!)There are thankfully a few tangents to break the parade up and there's a great Is That Glock as well, so it's not all that bad!If you want to join in with the chat during the races (along with practice and qualifying) head over to our Discord where there's always a great crowd of people to watch along with. The show where we dive deep into everything iRacing—from the thrill of the perfect lap to the frustration of getting wrecked by a poor rejoin. I'm your host, Guy Robertson, and today, we're tackling one of the most infuriating issues every iRacer faces: the bad rejoin. We've all been there—you're battling for a top position, everything is going perfectly, and then out of nowhere, a backmarker crashes into you because they didn't rejoin the track safely. You lose your position, your race, your sanity... and it can take a real toll on you, mentally and physically. But it's not just about frustration. It's about how these moments affect your confidence, your racing mentality, and even how you approach future races. So, what can iRacing do to prevent these accidents? And what should the driver who causes the incident do afterward? We'll explore all of that and more today.Plus, stick around for a special announcement at the end of the show—we're planning a live podcast episode to discuss potential solutions with you, the iRacing community. But first, let's dive into the mental and emotional toll that bad rejoins take on every racer. Let's get into it.Shows e-mail: theloneroadiracerspodcast@gmail.comYouTube Videocast: https://youtu.be/_soWD69R_CgFacebook Link: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61554966076972 10% off DRE Link: https://getdre.app/loneiracerSupport the show
Well they've done it again, RedBull have done a mid-season driver swap with RB and this time it's a new record. Liam Lawson only got 2 races in the "big" team as Max Verstappen's team-mate to prove himself, even though he's now in his 3rd rookie season after 2 years as VCARB's super-sub.This week on the podcast we take a deep dive into whatever the hell it is that RedBull (Mainly Helmut Marko) is playing at and how they've potentially managed to derail 2 driver's careers in one badly thought out move. Of course we could be wrong and this could turn out to be the genius move of the season, but previous form, and they've got a LOT of previous form in this, says that it probably won't be,There's a brief few bits of other news including Ferrari's floor and Aston Martin selling shares and buying shares at the same time along with the usual healthy amount of tangents and we've even got a new Is That Glock (complete with jingle as well!)If you want to join in with the chat during the races (along with practice and qualifying) head over to our Discord where there's always a great crowd of people to watch along with. 2 weeks in to the 2025 F1 season and we think we all know which way the wind is blowing and also that it's coloured Papaya! BUT it wouldn't be an new season without a little RedBull turmoil and the meat grinder might well be called into action sooner than we expected this time round. This week on the podcast we look back at the Australian GP with its multiple disqualifications, Ferrari going from triumph to utter disaster in the space of a day and the whole will they or won't they with RedBull and Liam Lawson. The rumours coming out are fairly varied, ranging from Yuki Tsunoda is swapping seat with him for or before Japan, to Franco Collapinto is going to be in a RedBull branded car before then. One thing you can say about that team is that they never leave us short of things to talk about (which is just as well because there isn't a race next week)There's all the tangents you'd expect and the return of Is That Glock? (please, please please send some new ones in to us!)Also we've got the results up already for the prediction league for both races in China this past weekend, along with opening the predictions for the upcoming race at Suzuka aloong with our league in the official F1 Fantasy gameIf you want to join in with the chat during the races (along with practice and qualifying) head over to our Discord where there's always a great crowd of people to watch along with. And on the socials weve got our Facebook, Instagram, BlueSky & Twitter (or is it X) and Paul's attempts at Sim Racing on our Twitch channel.
