In this episode of Hey Everybody, It's Fr. Edward, Fr. Edward Looney sits down with Dr. Neomi DeAnda, director of the International Marian Research Institute (IMRI), to discuss the powerful connection between Mary and the movies. They dive into IMRI's exciting "Movies with Mary" crowdfunding project, which runs through April 9, 2025. The conversation spans everything from mainstream depictions of Mary—like Fr. In this episode, Hall T. Martin connects with Dallas Morgan, a filmmaker, and discusses the journey of producing 'Sightings,' an ultra-low-budget thriller released in 2017. The discussion explores how the filmmaker navigated its distribution through a small-label distributor, achieving a modest recoupment path and receiving positive reviews within niche markets. Hall and Dallas delve into the motivation to enter the distribution side of the film industry, aiming to enhance the standards set by lower-level distributors and maximize exposure for various titles, particularly low-budget films and series, on platforms with established relationships. Over the past four to five years, Dallas has curated a catalog of around 300 titles, engaging in multiple aspects of film rights acquisition and placement on emerging streaming services. Hall provides insights and advice on how to effectively create and finance new projects by leveraging previous learnings and established connections. An iconic Kiwi actor is back in the country. Craig Parker mostly lives in the United States these days, but has been back in New Zealand for a while, filming a mystery project before he guests at Auckland's Armageddon Expo. The last time he was back on this side of the world was a couple of Christmases ago, but he told Mike Hosking that he likes to try visit every couple of years, escaping the milder LA January. Guesting at conventions like Armageddon is an industry of its own, and Parker says that while it's easy to be cynical, he loves the con scene. “They're a place where, for all different reasons, people who love a show or a genre of shows come together.” “When you make a show, it's about the making of the show,” he told Hosking. “And sometimes you forget that other people out in the world watch it.” “But these events, you get to meet people who really love the stuff you've done, and it's not an ego thing where you're going, I'm amazing, these people want to meet me, they want to meet you because you are part of some world they love.” LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Frugal Film Project is a collective photography challenge to help reign in the cost of photography. Starting in 2018, it encourages using budget cameras, lenses, and film over a year. The framework in which those participating work includes a camera/lens that costs no more than 75$ (USD) and a relatively inexpensive film (no Portra). And shooting one roll of film a month. Bill has been participating in this for several years now. This year marked the first time Alex joined in, so we're bringing in a small cross-section of those who participated in a couple of chats on today's episode. This is the first time CCR has done a round-table 'open source' style episode, so it is split into two parts recorded on two separate days. In this vlog, I'm excited to provide you with an in-depth update on my latest film project. It's been quite a journey re-outlining the story, and I'll share both the challenges and successes I've encountered along the way. While revising has its perks, tackling those pesky plot holes has proven to be a formidable task. I had high hopes of completing the entire outline by the end of the week, but reality had other plans, and I only made it halfway. Nevertheless, I'm proud of the progress I've made and am determined to wrap it up in the coming week. But that's not all! Stick around as I dive into the magic of sharing art with others. I recently introduced a friend to the enchanting worlds of "Princess Mononoke" and "Your Name." It reminded me of the power of experiencing art through fresh eyes. Their reactions transported me back, making me feel like I was discovering these masterpieces for the first time. I'll also share some intriguing musings that have been on my mind lately. From the importance of knowing more plants and animals than celebrities and brands to the eerie real-life relevance of "The Dark Knight" quote, "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain." And if that's not enough, stay tuned for a special mention of my friend's innovative Bravago hard seltzer drink line (@drinkbravago). It's a fascinating venture that deserves recognition! In this episode we explore the creative mind of Jenny Waldo, a Houston based film director, writer and producer. She is also a film professor at Houston Community College. Jenny shares all the juicy advice she would have wanted to hear when she started her career as a film director. She emphasizes how life experience really helps while creating new stories and how enriching it is for her to have produced other people's work and nowadays being part of helping her students to find their voice and understand what goes into filmmaking.Jenny Waldo got her start in the documentary/educational industry of her hometown, Washington, DC. Over the years, Jenny produced various scripted and documentary short films as well as writing and directing her own award-winning scripted projects. Her short film, Acid Test, based on Jenny's own tumble through self-discovery as a 1990's Riot Grrrl, was screened at festivals all over the world in 2022, with great reviews and transformed later into her debut feature film. Jenny also reminds the audience to have in mind that as a filmmaker and writer-director, the goal is to communicate something, a feeling, an idea or a character, and every decision we take has to be based on that. We also talked about the next challenge of distribution, projecting and making the necessary plans to enter the films into festivals and then the whole networking that comes with festivals.Waldo´s producing credits include the indie feature The Preacher's Daughter which sold to Lifetime , and the feature documentary The Cutting Edge: The Magic of Movie Editing. Her next project in development is also based on a true story: Martha's Mustang. You can find out about future screenings of Acid Test or just the development of it and in which platforms it is being screened, at www.acidtestfilm.comAlso at her professional website www.jennywaldo.com you'll find a tab for Martha's Mustang with updated info. As being falsely accused of terrorism by the FBI,CIA,DOJ,Interpol and all other agencies and local law enforcement it is a well orchestrated tumult against me. Don't think this is out of the ordinary. Black folks have always been targeted unjustly for asking, demanding and protesting for civil, rights. The system is satanic in origin as New World Order is on your dollar bill. Thousands if not millions of black, latino and native americans are being covertly tortured and having their lives sabotaged by government contractors, confidential informants. This is the same system deployed in East Germany that recruited citizen spies to turn ppl in. Many as this program are falsely accused to crimes. Men,women and children and being thrown on government watchlist while the real threat of white extremism runs rampant from positions of authority to vigilantes wreaking havoc throughout the communities.
