Faith is more than belief—it's action. In this message from James 2:14–26, we're reminded that genuine faith produces tangible works of love and obedience. In a culture that often separates words from deeds, James challenges believers to embody their faith through compassion, generosity, and courage. From Abraham's obedience to Rahab's risky hospitality, we see that true faith always moves—toward God and toward others. Grace changes our hearts, but faith makes that change visible. As Craig Keener said, “Genuine faith is a reality on which one stakes one's life, not merely passive assent to a doctrine.” ______________________________________________________________________________________ NEW HERE?  Hello ladies, and welcome back! I'm your host, Dr. Dawn — and today's episode is all about how to get more done without burning out. If your to-do list never ends, your calendar's overflowing, and you're running on caffeine and willpower, this one's for you. I'm sharing three strategies high-performing women use to manage their workload, protect their energy, and finally feel in control again.  Strategy #1: Focus on What Moves the Needle: Not everything on your to-do list deserves to be there. High-performing women don't do more — they do what matters most. Before your week begins, ask yourself: “If I could only get three things done this week that would make the biggest difference — what would they be?” Strategy #2: Cut the Energy Drains: Those are silent saboteurs. They steal your time, focus, and peace of mind. For one week, track what drains your energy and ask: Does this task align with my goals? Is it moving me forward or just keeping me busy?Strategy #3: Master Strategic Boundaries: Burnout doesn't just come from overwork — it comes from over-giving. Boundaries aren't walls; they're your rules for energy management. Here are three simple scripts you can use right now: “I'd love to help, but my plate is full right now. Can we revisit this next week?” Or, “That's not in alignment with my current priorities, but I appreciate you thinking of me.” Or, “I can attend the meeting, but I'll need to leave after 30 minutes to meet my deadline.”  Remember: focus on what matters, cut what drains you, and protect your time like it's gold — because it is! As always, we end every episode with this reminder: “If you're not having a fantastic day, you have the power to make it one.” Why? Because power starts with choice. You may not control your workload, your boss, or your inbox — but you can control your mindset, your boundaries, and your focus. Take a breath, choose what matters most, and go make today, a fantastic one! James 2:1–13 “Faith alone saves, but the faith that saves is never alone.” – Martin Luther In this message, we look at how real faith shows itself through love, mercy, and impartiality. James confronts the early church for showing favoritism toward the rich and dishonoring the poor—reminding us that partiality has no place in the kingdom of God. The royal law of love governs our relationships, and mercy is the mark of those who truly know Jesus. True faith doesn't just believe—it behaves. Mercy triumphs over judgment. ______________________________________________________________________________________ NEW HERE? We'd love to connect with you. In this message, Pastor Josh breaks down the silent killers of unity including pride, gossip, and unforgiveness and why we must fight for peace in our homes, churches, and relationships. Unity isn't about agreeing on everything; it's about refusing to let what divides us be bigger than who unites us. Unity is not the absence of conflict, it is the presence of Christ. Welcome to today's message on Biblical Stewardship. Stewardship is more than money—it's the responsibility God has given us to manage, cultivate, and care for everything that ultimately belongs to Him. Psalm 24:1 says, ‘The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it.' That means our time, talents, treasure, relationships, even our very bodies, are sacred trusts entrusted to us for a season. One day, we'll give an account to God for how we've used what He placed in our hands. Stewardship keeps us humble, gives us purpose, and reorients us toward eternity. Let's lean in today as we discover what it truly means to be found faithful. ______________________________________________________________________________________ NEW HERE? Hey ShopTalkers! If you've been following along: in Episode 78 we deep-dived into how your voice can project confidence (or sometimes do the opposite), and last week (Ep 79) we unpacked the exact words that either build you up or quietly chip away at your presence. Today, we're going even deeper. Because even when your voice/word choice are on point, the way you show up in the first few seconds of an interaction still has enormous power!Did You Know? Most people form a first impression in 7 seconds or less. Those seconds aren't a luxury—they're everything.Studies show women are judged not only on competence but also warmth in those first moments. If the balance feels off, it can work against you.Globally, women hold only about 30% of senior leadership roles—and part of why progress is slow is that perception bias in first impressions plays a role in who people believe is “leadership material.”Why It Matters: If you were with me in Episode 33 (“Making a Remarkable First Impression on Your First Day”), you'll remember I shared tips for that brand-new job, how to dress, arrive early, learn names, etc. That episode was perfect if you were stepping into something new. If you're preparing for a new job, I still recommend going back to Ep 33—but know today's episode will give you skills you can use every time you enter a room. 3 Strategies You Can Use Right Now1.  Prepare Your Presence: Before you walk into any space (virtual or in-person), take a moment. Adjust your posture. Slow your breathing. Remind yourself of your credentials.2.  Non-Verbal Signals Speak Louder Than Many Words: Eye contact, steady posture, calm gestures. Avoid fidgeting, avoid shrinking your space.3.  Lead with Clarity + Warmth:  Drop softeners (“just,” “sorry,” “maybe”) up front. Replace with something direct: “Here's what I think,” or “I'm excited to share…”NEW HERE? This message unpacks what it truly means to be a Christian—more than a title, it is a supernatural encounter with God that brings new birth, repentance, and transformation from within. Through Jesus' conversation with Nicodemus, we see that to follow Christ is to be born of the Spirit, given a new heart, and made alive to God's kingdom. Christians belong to Christ, living as people of His kingdom, which is not political or geographical but spiritual and present wherever Jesus reigns in hearts. The name “Christian” should reflect holiness, devotion, and Christlikeness, as our lives bear witness to the reality of God's rule within us. ______________________________________________________________________________________ NEW HERE? So, let's start by defining it - it's built on 3 pillars: gravitas, communication, appearance. Today, it's not just about polish—it's about trust, connection, and authenticity. Unfortunately, gender gaps remain: women hold only about 30% of senior leadership roles globally and are often judged more harshly whether they lean “feminine” or “masculine. 3 Strategies to Elevate Your Presence: 1.  Anchor Gravitas – Project steadiness through tone, pauses, and eye contact. 2.  Lead with Clarity & Connection – Confident register, powerful words, plus empathy and storytelling. 3.  Reflect on Visibility & Trust – Seek feedback, notice how others respond, and make sure people feel heard and valued. Surrounded by ruins, wrestling with sin, and desperate for renewal, Judah's cry reveals both their brokenness and their deep desire for God to move as He had in the past. This sermon challenges us to examine the distractions and idols that dull our hunger for God and calls us to aggressively “lay hold” of eternal life with focused resolve (1 Timothy 6:11-12). In seasons of transition and spiritual dryness, desperation for Jesus is not weakness but an act of faith. ______________________________________________________________________________________ NEW HERE? So, THIS week, we're going even deeper. Because even if your voice is strong, the words you choose could be undermining you. Words That Undermine—And What to Say Instead I'm sorry, but| Starts with apology even when not needed | Lead with your pointJust checking| Minimizes your intent | I'd like to follow upI may be wrong…” | Signals uncertainty | Here's what I'm thinkingYou know?| A conversational filler | Use a pause insteadActually| Comes off as defensive or surprised | Here's another way to look at itI'm not an expert in this | Self-dismissal | Lead with your credentials3 Strategies You Can Use Right Away1.  Capture & Reflect Record yourself in a meeting or presentation. Listen for softeners, apologies, or filler phrases. Awareness is the first step toward shift! 2.  Practice Rewriting Rewrite an email or message using powerful language. Replace “just,” “sorry,” or “maybe” with confident alternatives. The more you practice, the easier it becomes.3.  Pause with Purpose Notice when you want to say “um” or “you know.” Pause instead. Pauses project control, confidence, and clarity. Remember, ShopTalkers: your career, your choices, your voice—and yes, even your day—are in your control, so don't forget our motto and it's this:  “If you're not having a fantastic day, you have the power to make it one!” NEW HERE?  Hello everyone, and welcome back to The Career Woman's Secret Playbook Podcast! I'm your host, Dr. Dawn, CEO and Founder of Dr. Dawn ShopTalk. Today we're asking a big question: Are you speaking in a confident, powerful vocal register—or are subtle habits in your voice actually holding you back? In this episode, we'll uncover: Why the pitch of your voice can either signal confidence or undermine it,How some subtle vocal habits affect how others perceive your credibility, ANDThree practical tips you can use right away to sound more confident, and professional. Why Your Voice Matters — Tune in for the details, but here's the research in a nutshell: 1. Lower Pitch = Perceived Leadership & Competence: Scientific studies show that both men and women are more likely to select leaders with lower-pitched voices. 2. Vocal Fry Undermines Credibility: Have you heard of this before?   It's probably something you may not even realize you're doing: it's that's crackly sound your voice makes when you're running out of air at the end of a sentence. 3. Uptalk May Signal Uncertainty: When statements end with rising pitch—called uptalk—they can come across as tentative or less confident. 4. Technology Biases Against Higher Pitches:  Historical design of broadcasting and telephony systems favored lower pitches, often distorting or deeming women's naturally higher voices as “shrill.”   3 Practical Tips to Speak with Power & Poise 1.  Anchor Your Pitch in the Mid-to-Low Register, 2.  Minimize Vocal Fry & Uptalk, 3. Practice Controlled Variation (Not Monotony).NEW HERE? Whether your calendar is already color-coded or your desk is currently buried under three coffee mugs and a pile of sticky notes, this episode is for you!  Did you know that according to a study by The National Association of Professional Organizers, over 80% of people feel more productive in an organized workspace—yet most professionals lose nearly one hour a day to disorganization. That's five hours a week people!  Still need convincing?  Then let talk about Oprah - if you've been listening for a while then you know we believe everything Oprah on this podcast.  Did you know that she credits organization and routines as 2 of her secrets to success?  Enough said! Also consider the fact that we drop our episodes on Monday because we believe that if you Monday a great one, it can set the tone for the entire workweek.  So be sure to tune in to today's episode where I am going to give you even more info about how to stay organized, along with these 3 tips: 1. Clear Space = Clear Mind If your space is a wreck, it will affect your stress, your energy and your focus.  We will talk about ways to help you out of this mess! 2. Make a “Must-Do” List—Not a “To-Do” List I love a To-Do list and will even share what my customized list has on it, but for me and my coaching clients, we see these as "must-do's" and I'll explain why.3. Time Block with Boundaries Boundaries are important - when it comes to time, it includes buffering your time before and after tasks - a very powerful strategy to getting things done.Remember that one small change you make today could lead to big results tomorrow.  For more support, check out these "must-do's" below: NEW HERE?
