Berlin-based musician HOVR conjures up unique house grooves on a superb EP for Kindisch that includes a retouch from TÂCHES. HOVR is an innovative artist who mixes up the crazy with the cosy. His productions and DJ sets spread real joy and have come on labels like Poesie Musik, Dantze and Lauter Unfug, with appearances all over the world from Australia to Africa to Kater Blau and Fusion Festival. Never one to follow the norm, he always comes through with his own musical personality. He opens up this EP with 'Gravitate,' a majestic and uplifting track that pairs a dirty bassline with lush and tender chords. Dreamy spoken words muse on two entities coming together as one and delicate keys heighten the sense of romance. It's a bittersweet track that works at home, in the club, or anywhere else. So gut wie jeder Millennial kennt den aus Funk und Fernsehen bekannten TV-Moderator der eines der großen musikalischen Multitalente im Musikbereich von Rock/Pop bis Techno ist. Das DJing und auch das Produzieren waren dabei schon immer eine Leidenschaft des gebürtigen Bayern. Mit Releases auf Katermukke, Einmusika oder Dantze stellt Kavka regelmäßig sein Talent unter Beweis. Beim Auflegen bezeichnet er sich selbst als einen "Mann des Gefühls". Es geht ihm stets darum, den Raum mit Glück auszufüllen, eine Atmosphäre zu erschaffen, die Leute mit auf eine Reise zu nehmen. Während der Quarantänezeit versorgten Markus und Babette ihre Anhänger wöchentlich mit frischen Sets aus ihrer Wohnung in Berlin. Verspielt, frech, groovy, minimalistisch und melodisch wären so Adjektive die mir da in den Sinn kommen. Welchem Genre ich mich zuordnen würde - keine Ahnung. Mein Ziel ist es immer gewesen meinen eigenen Stil zu entwickeln, eine eigene Handschrift sozusagen. Meine Musik setzt sich aus vielen, unterschiedlichen Einflüssen zusammen. Von einschneidenden Erlebnissen in Berliner Clubs oder Festivals bis hin zu Produzenten wie Midas 104, O/Y, Roy Rosenfeld oder Frivolous, die mich immer wieder aufs Neue inspirieren. Aus all diesen Einflüssen koche ich dann mein eigenes Süppchen. Wen ich mit meiner Musik erreichen möchte? Jeden der die Sprache meiner Musik versteht. Für mich ist Musik etwas Einzigartiges. Manche Tracks haben eine ganz besondere Wirkung auf mich und lösen unglaublich schöne Emotionen in mir aus. Letztendlich möchte ich mit meiner Musik genau das Gleiche bei Anderen erreichen. Ich möchte Menschen überraschen, berühren aber gleichzeitig auch ein bisschen verwirren und überfordern. Mit persönlich fehlt das alles nämlich ein bisschen beim Feiern. Mir fehlt häufig die Emotion und Einzigartigkeit in der Musik. Letztendlich ist das auch Geschmacksache, aber ich denke ein bisschen verrücktere happy Musik tut uns allen gut. Du bist ja in den letzten 1-2 Jahren überaus aktiv gewesen, was eigenes Produzieren und den Partykosmos angeht. Magst du uns ein bisschen was über deinen Werdegang erzählen? Ja das kann man so sagen. Vor allem war ich sehr aktiv im Studio. Ich habe im Frühjahr 2019 mein Studium abgeschlossen und mich daraufhin eigentlich voll und ganz der Musik gewidmet. Aber auch in den Jahren zuvor war die Musik immer mein Anker und meine Leidenschaft. Im August 2018 hatte ich mein Debutrelease auf Dantze, 2019 habe ich dann genutzt um meine Musik weiterzuentwickeln und somit sehr viel Zeit im Studio verbracht. 2020 erblickt nun endlich mehr Musik von mir das Licht der Welt. Im März habe ich 'Insomniac' auf Serafin Audio Imprint released, vor zwei Tagen erschien dann eine EP mit zwei Titeln von mir auf Weirdos Records und Ende Juli und im August folgen noch zwei Nummern auf Einmusika Recordings und Stil vor Talent. Darauf freue ich mich sehr! Es ist ein sehr schönes Gefühl wenn die eigene Musik ein Zuhause findet. Kannst du uns noch etwas über diesen Podcast erzählen? Viele Menschen verbinden mit einer Afterhour entweder harten Techno oder Downtempo. Ich kann mich auf einer Afterhour durchaus auch an solcher Musik erfreuen, am meisten holt mich jedoch flotte, minimalistische, verspielte und abwechslungsreiche Musik ab. Wenn ich an Afterhour denke, hab ich den Kater Kiosk vor Augen. Ein Gläschen Sekt auf Eis in der einen Hand, mit der anderen hält man sich an den Seilen fest, denn die Beine können eigentlich nicht mehr. Das Einzige was einen noch bei Laune hält ist die Musik. Für eine gelungene Afterhour gehört natürlich noch weit mehr dazu als nur gute Musik, aber spätestens wenn die Kräfte langsam schwinden, steht und fällt eine Party für mich mit der Musik. Denn am Ende ist Musik die beste Droge.
