In 1898, two lions descended on a company of railway workers in British East Africa. For nine months they terrorized the camp, carrying off a new victim every few days, as engineer John Patterson struggled to stop them. In this week's episode of the Futility Closet podcast we'll track the "man-eaters of Tsavo" and learn what modern science has discovered about their motivations. We'll also consider more uses for two cars and puzzle over some prolific penguins. Intro: MIT drops a piano off a building every year. We love to take steps towards improvement, but how often do our steps line up with God's? Dave shares how intimacy with God can guide us to take kingdom-building steps in His power and authority.
Author, reader and activist, David Salisbury joins us again to tell us what's going on in his world and what he's working on. We will touch on The Firefly House, and how abandoning dogma in his practices has helped or hindered his magick.
Trump's administration seems to have more holes in it than Swiss cheese. Junior's backpedalling has hurt his credibility; talk of forming taskforce with Putin over internet security lends more credence to Russian collusion in election hacking; military control is up in the air with Trump not wanting to make the decisions. Trump was at the G20 Summit and managed to go most of the time without a major faux pas, other than not booking a hotel for he and his staff... Pagans have come together in support of Raven and Stephanie Grimassi, they lost their home and business to a freak fire late in June. Funds are pouring in to help them rebuild and keep themselves afloat while they are waiting for insurance to come through. David Salisbury has announced that his Teen Spirit Wicca is going out of print with the publisher and he plans to rerelease it in eformat, free for the public. Hardcopy can be purchased at cost for those who would prefer paper. Negotiations are in process as to who will help him reformat for the book for electronic release. All of this and more in this week's edition of Pagan Weekly News!

Hello and thank you once again for joining me down at the crossroads for some music, magick, and Paganism. Where witches gather for the sabbath, offerings are made, pacts are signed for musical fame and we cross paths with today's most influential Pagans, occultists, and deep thinkers. I am your bewitching, bald headed, host Chris Orapello and tonight we visit FaerieCon for a panel I moderated titled Reaching the Next Generation, which featured notable authors and leaders such as Ivo Dominguez Jr., Raven Grimassi, David Salisbury, Byron Ballard, and Michael G. Smith. During the panel we discuss the issues and problems of bridging the gaps found within a multi generational, diverse, and every developing religious community. Though we only manage to scratch the surface of this complex issue a lot gets addressed during the one hour panel session.
