Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer defends Greg Joseph!; Why the Vikings defense does NOT get it; Dede Westbrook almost causing a safety; PJ Fleck for the Gophers offensive line; Teddy Bridgewater leading the Broncos to a 2-0 record and more on the latest who gets it; who doesn't!; (27:30) If you could guarantee a Minnesota sports championship next season but go 40 years without another, would you do it?; (39:00) Random Szn Recall: 2015-16 Minnesota Wild.
Minnesota Vikings scoops on Kellen Mond, Dede Westbrook, Harrison Smith, the offensive line, and veteran backup quarterback options behind Jake Browning; (14:00) Minnesota Twins scoops on Byron Buxton and more in a scoop session with Doogie!
Darren and Dave are selecting 3 topics plus 1, coming out of the first week of the Minnesota Vikings training camp. Plus 1 Topic: The COVID protocols and how when Kellen Mond tests positive, it takes out 3 QBs including starter Kirk Cousins. Topic 1: KJ Osborn is getting some love from the coaches. After his rookie season where he was tried as a returner with disappointing results, he has focused on improving his wide receiver skills. It has been showing early and often so far in camp. Is it enough for him to capture the elusive WR3 position? The Vikes have Chad Beebe, Bisi Johnson [who left the field Friday with his knee in a brace] and new free agent Dede Westbrook. What about 5th rounder Ihmir Smith-Marsette? Will he surprise everyone? Can Osborn surprise everyone? Topic 2: What is with the Vikings under the Zimmer era always moving offensive linemen out of their drafted or natural position? We get that the more positions on the line makes a player more versatile especially when injuries start to hit, but does it do harm to a player's learning curve when they now have to try something new, learn the footwork, hand play, even the blocking assignments before they have learned to step up their play at their drafted position? Yes, you want players that can do this, but is the team actually harming its progress by doing it too early in a player's career. They draft a left tackle of the future and make him a right guard who now is at left guard, Ezra Cleveland. This season, Oli Udoh who was drafted 2019 as a tackle in the 6th round and was being groomed as a swing tackle, is now splitting first team reps with Dakota Dozier at right guard. Another tackle playing guard. A lot of college tackles become NFL guards, but it is looking like the OL might be 4 tackles and a center. That may be thinking outside of the box and work, or another disaster when the team was hoping to protect Kirk Cousins and open holes for Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison. …And after the disaster of having Dozier playing last season, drafting a multiple time All American right guard from Ohio State named Wyatt Davis, is Dakota still on the team much less the first team?! Again to the original question of are the Vikings doing more harm than good? Davis was seen snapping to Kellen Mond the other day. Coaches may have wondered if he could snap in an emergency or if Garret Bradbury needs yanked or gets hurt to get him on the field, or they are doing this position swap thing because that's what they do. Who knows? At least Mond got some extra snaps. Topic 3: Danielle Hunter is back from neck surgery. “It was just a tweak!” Mike Zimmer jokes about it now, but it turned out to be a herniated disk in the neck that required surgery. The Vikes have slowing integrated him into practice and he is now taking the majority of reps with the first time and looks even better than before. Will he stay healthy once the pads go on this week and hitting cracks up? Can he be as good or better than he was during the season when teams will be focusing on him? Let's hope so. SummaryOn this episode of The Most Accurate Podcast, John Daigle joins Greg to recap the 2020 NFL Draft from a fantasy football perspective. The show begins with bigger-picture takeaways like the proliferation of a "best player available" mentality and the diminishing number of high-volume fantasy options (and not just at running back). From there, your hosts dive into positional breakdowns. Running backs come first (12:06), starting with John and Greg's picks for biggest winners among incumbent ball-carriers. Then the top rookie rushers get evaluated, both on their own and in terms of impacts on their new veteran teammates. Later, after reviewing the most interesting rushers from Day 2 and 3, the conversation turns to wide receivers (37:55). Again, winners and losers among veterans kicks off the positional discussion before your hosts dig into the rookie class. They discuss how much Henry Ruggs might be hurt by the quarterback play of Derek Carr, which other first-round rookies are the best bets to produce in year-one, plus the most intriguing pass-catching prospects from outside the first round. Quarterbacks are next (1:04:22), with takes on multiple winners and one obvious loser among veterans at the position. Your hosts also touch on the outlooks for Jameis Winston and Cam Newton in new homes, then they discuss how to rank the incoming rookies, whether or not fantasy gamers should be worried about Carson Wentz, and the curious case of PJ "Don't Call Me Phillip" Walker playing behind Teddy Bridgewater in Carolina. The episode winds down with a brief section on tight ends (1:20:38), tabbing winners and losers among non-rookies, then highlighting a couple of the position's more intriguing inbound prospects.LinksRotoworld.com2020 NFL Draft Fantasy Recap (Round 1) by John Paulsen2020 NFL Draft Fantasy Recap (Rounds 2-3) by John Paulsen2020 NFL Draft Fantasy Recap (Rounds 4-7) by Brandon NilesWhy Jalen Hurts was a Great Pick by Philadelphia by Kevin ColeSubscribe to 4for4TMAP B-Sides Playlist on SpotifyGuest: John Daigle - @notJDaigleHost: Greg Smith - @gregsauceFollow UsTwitter: @4for4footballFacebook: www.facebook.com/4for4footballYouTube: www.youtube.com/4for4footballEmail: firstname.lastname@example.org
SummaryOn this episode of The Most Accurate Podcast, Anthony Amico joins Greg for another best ball draft strategy bonanza, but the episode begins with a more general news discussion of the recent trade of Brandin Cooks from the Rams to the Texans, plus Kansas City's signing of DeAndre Washington. From there, your hosts dive into best ball, starting with an assessment of the ZeroRB draft strategy. Anthony makes his case for how it can work and details some of the nuances to keep in mind when navigating through a structured drafting approach. Next, the conversation turns to Anthony's machine learning prospect models for running backs and wide receivers, explaining how he uses the models' hit-rate estimates to help find values with rookies in best ball drafts. Around the 25-minute mark, Greg and Anthony dive headfirst into wide receivers, kicking things off with Corey Davis, AJ Brown, and DeVante Parker as examples of some of the different types of wideouts you can target in best ball. Then they go back to the top of wide receiver ADP and work their way down, from potential busts in the top tier down to rookies and other intriguing dart throws in the double-digit rounds. As if that wasn't enough, tight end talk kicks off around the 63-minute mark. Your hosts identify some of the best late-round values at the position, then use that frame of reference to discuss which higher-ranked tight ends are worth their best ball draft costs.LinksRB Prospect Model by Anthony AmicoWR Prospect Model by Anthony AmicoBest Ball ADP at 4for4.comFFPC WR Win Rates by Andrew FleischerFanball WR Win Rates by Andrew FleischerFFPC TE Win Rates by Jennifer EakinsFanball TE Win Rates by Jennifer EakinsHow Draft Dates Impact Best Ball Scoring by Justin Edwards7 Players to Target in Best Ball before the NFL Draft by 4for4's StaffSubscribe to 4for4TMAP B-Sides Playlist on SpotifyGuest: Anthony Amico - @amicstaHost: Greg Smith - @gregsauceFollow UsTwitter: @4for4footballFacebook: www.facebook.com/4for4footballYouTube: www.youtube.com/4for4footballEmail: email@example.com
