The ROADMAP: 3:35 - The “Cleveland Guardians” Battle. The Cleveland Baseball Team (formerly the Indians) announced that they were changing their name to the Cleveland Guardians. The only problem was… there was ALREADY a team with that name, a roller derby team who appears to STILL own ClevelandGuardians.com and associated social media accounts… and are posting to them AFTER the announcement! You'd think a billion dollar MLB franchise would have the resources to buy out a lowly roller derby team— and the foresight to do that AHEAD of time but seemingly did not. It's David v. Goliath.. and David seems primed to get PAID. We discuss how big of a mistake occurred and how it happened. (More on ConductDetrimental.com courtesy of Zak Kurtz) 20:11 - Big Deshaun Watson Update. This week, 10 more women went directly to the police department with criminal complaints of sexual assault, 8 of which had already filed civil suits but 2 of them had not… increasing the overall number of alleged victims to reportedly 24. This comes at a time when Watson finally made the decision to come to Houston Texans camp and step back in to the public realm. The pressure is now on both Roger Goodell and the District Attorney's Office to make a decision as to his status — yet we have no update or a timeframe on a decision. There are rumors that teams are lining up to trade for Watson but we don't necessarily buy it. We compare what's going on over in MLB with their handling of the Trevor Bauer allegations. And what is Tony Buzbee's gameplan here? (ConductDetrimental.com article courtesy of Jordan Ivner) 40:59 - Texas & Oklahoma Sign The Divorce Papers. The first formal step in the process of conference musical chairs has occurred. Texas & Oklahoma have advised the SEC of their intention to leave the conference. The next step is a formal vote according to the conference bylaws. There are so many questions about what happens now and the causes of action that could result: tortious interference, anticipatory breach, etc. We go over the massive damages calculation as well. And for college sports, how will the BIG 12 even exist as a Power 5 conference with only 8 schools left. The vultures are circling. We break it down. 49:44 - The NFL's Controversial New Vaccination Rules. Last year, the NFL season was disrupted on countless occasions with COVID issues with games delayed or moved weeks back. This kind of scheduling chaos is bad for the players, bad for the team, and for the NFL — it's bad for business. Last year, the NFL threatened the loss of draft picks for a team if a player violated the health and safety protocol. This year, they are taking it to the next level by going directly after players and staff wallets' who fail to get vaccinated. You can be a high profile player like DeAndre Hopkins or a lesser-known coach like Rick Dennison, there are no exception. We debate. Good morning Horners! Your beloved Minnesota Vikings have completed the 2019 draft with 12 overall selections and plenty of transactions to get there. Ted, Drew, and myself bring you the recap and the only way grizzled old fans can. Be prepared for some fascinating and absolutely humorous analysis as we dive into some of your favorite picks. Not since 1965, has four offensive players been selected with the first four picks by the Vikings. Those household names included Jack Snow [WR], Archie Sutton [T], Lance Rentzel [WR], and Jim Whalen [TE]. This year soon to be household names started out with Garrett Bradbury [C], Irv Smith [TE], Alexander Mattison [RB], and Dru Samia [G]. 1965 was a very long time ago, and to our senior fans that remember that far back, I salute you. For the rest of us, join in the enjoyment of learning about this year's selections. Obviously, Gary Kubiak had a huge influence over the Vikings direction during this draft. Known for his offensive mind and scheme, we can see the direct effect. He may be the first person to ever convince Mike Zimmer not to pick any defenders early. That demonstrates one heck of a relationship, either good or bad, that we’ll look forward to seeing in 2019. Not to give all credit to Kubiak, because we know Kevin Stefanski and Rick Dennison were also involved as well as Rick Spielman and his scouting department, and of course how the board fell. Players discussed in this episode include Mattison, Bradbury, Samia, Smith, and the lower round selections of Cameron Smith [LB], Khris Boyd [CB], brief mentions of Dillon Mitchell, Olabisi Johnson, Oli Udoh, and then Ted Glover's favorite selection, Austin Cutting. All these fine young gentlemen were part of the 12 player haul, the largest for the Vikings since the league went to a 7 round format in 1993. Everyone that watched the live draft show, I want to give a big shout out. You all rock! It was our most watched show to date. We have two questions for you. Would you like to see the “In the Raw” episodes done live this season, and what did you think of the Vikings selections in the draft? Like, subscribe, and ring that damn bell! Then shout SKOL! Good morning Horners! The guys are back and ready to start the 2019 league year. After a couple months of stewing in the disappointment that was the 2018 season, Ted Glover, Drew Bunting, and Dave Stefano return to discuss the state of the Minnesota Vikings. They look at the timeline that ran up to selecting John DeFilippo and Kirk Cousins. The flaws in the decision making of selecting an offensive coordinator that was going to implement a style of offense not conducive to neither the quarterback not the group of offensive linemen that had to block for him, and ask why? The Vikes have since hired the “Denver Mafia” lead by Gary Kubiak and including Rick Dennison. The whole group of new coaches will reportedly be focusing on implementing a more traditional West Coast Offense style of play that is said to be better suited to Kirk Cousins skills and a zone blocking scheme that should help in his protection and in the run game. Mike Zimmer in effect gets to get his guy who can mentor the Kevin Stefanski in the offensive coordinator role and ensure the offense is more productive while he can focus on the defense and the necessary future players needed to fill holes of departing free agents, cuts and trades. The team will see quite a few new faces due to having to clear money to gain cap space. OTC reports the Vikings are sitting $5,340,897 available and that isn’t even enough to sign the rookie class. There is still need money for veteran free agents and eventually the practice squad to cover for the up and coming season. This means so veterans of the squad last year will have to be let go one way or another. With the Vikings not tagging Anthony Barr in any way, just gives you one example of needs that will have to be addressed in some fashion. On signing free agents, the Vikings have already started with in-house guys fullback CJ Ham and punter Matt Wile, signing them to veteran minimum deals. With the offensive line being a factor of last season’s dismal results, the focus will be needed either through free agency, the draft, or both to shore it up. Last year’s rookie Brian O’Neill proved to be a bright spot, but he will have to be combined with 4 other guys in a more mobile system geared to take advantage of their skills. Mike Remmers looks to be a cap casualty, and a logical choice to free up some funds, but his right guard position will have to be filled. Pat Elflein should look forward to a full offseason of strengthening and his level of play improving to where fans thought it would be after his rookie season. The Riley Reiff will sit as the left tackle, for now, with the only questions being in the guard spots. That could change however depending on what is available to the Vikings in the draft and what shuffling of players coach Dennison decides to work best. The NFL Combine is complete, free agency nears, and the draft will follow shortly after that. The guys at GMG hope you join in the laughs, the debate, and the hopes that come with being Minnesota Vikings fans. Huge week for Bills fans as the Patriots get a few breaks as always, and slowly and steadily milked touchdowns from the Buffalo defense in the second half. Kevin Massare joins David Palermo to talk marriage as Kevin is a married man, and Dave is a newly married man. Essentially this podcast rants about the game in Foxboro that was played Christmas Eve, the boiling emotions and the edge of possibly just turning the NFL off. Never mind just ungodly officiating, overturning a great touchdown call from the ref of an incredible touchdown grab from Taylor to Kelvin Benjamin. Centralized replay has come down to the worst case scenario we have ever imagined, one guy in New York City is overturning calls and it happens to be the same guy for all the calls going the Patriots way. The NFL is a shit show, all Tv ratings and controlled from the dollar. It’s just business, but is there integrity? Many coaching blunders again showed up that helps bury the Buffalo Bills as well, another second half of three offensive points. Coaches preach accountability on players, if McDermott wants respect of the fans and his job, Rick Dennison cannot he trotted back out next year, especially after some tell tale signs Kevin and Dave talk about.
