Today we're joined by multi-talented creator, Ben Khan, as they share their creative processes, influences, and experiences throughout their comic career. From their work with Ubisoft tie-ins like "Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix: Crushing Love" and "Immortals Fenyx Rising," to indie comics like "Renegade Rule" and "Heavenly Blues," or even their new young adult novel "Elle Campbell Wins Their Weekend!" If you're not familiar with Ben from their incredible work in comics, you might recognize them from the Progressively Horrified podcast! Ben does an incredible job both playing with and subverting established tropes, and they have a knack for world building that we've rarely seen elsewhere! We get into the creative origins behind these stories, and gush about the films that have inspired their work.

ABOUT THIS EPISODE: This season we want to focus the podcast on innovation -- a hot topic in the youth ministry community right now. Between some grants that have been available to youth pastors and a pandemic that forced people to get innovative, all of us have been faced with obstacles and been forced to turn them into opportunities. Who better to kick off this season than with Elle Campbell, who heads up Stuff You Can Use and Grow Curriculum? Elle's gift is innovation, and shares her wisdom with us today. ABOUT ELLE CAMPBELL: Elle is the co-founder and Chief Content Officer of Stuff You Can Use and Grow Curriculum. She has been doing youth ministry since she was a teenager and is passionate about ministry that empowers both teenagers and adult volunteers to lead and serve in significant ways. When she's not doing ministry stuff, Elle is probably reading a book or making something — food, a scarf, a new business, a puzzle, or a LEGO set maybe? Follow Elle on IG: @elllllllllllllllllle / @stuffyoucanuse, Twitter: @ellllllllllle / @stuffyoucanuse and Facebook: @stuffyoucanuse And don't forget to check out growcurriculum.org ABOUT WOMEN IN YOUTH MINISTRY: We are an organization that seeks to elevate the voices of women in a male-saturated field. Elle Campbell and her husband Kenny, are founders of Stuff You Can Use.They have been doing youth ministry for over twenty combined years. They got their start at a church called The Chapel in Buffalo, NY, where they started as volunteers, but eventually joined The Chapel’s Middle School Ministry staff full-time In 2010, they launched Stuff You Can Use with just the two of them, a handful of resources, and a Twitter account. Their goal was to share some of the things we had created with the rest of the youth ministry community, and to make those resources as high-quality and easy-to-use as possible. This week I talked to Kenny and Elle Campbell. You probably know them best from their Stuff You Can Use website (stuffyoucanuse.org) or YM Answers Podcast (ymanswers.com). However, what you may not know is that they are passionate about middle school ministry. In fact, they are both working for Orange now focusing in on some great middle school things. We had a lot of fun talking middle school ministry but also tackling some '90s trivia. Other links you may want to check out: Try XP3 Middle School Curriculum for free!
