Logo na abertura do livro, sob o título "Introdução ao Estudo da Doutrina Espírita", no Item I, já no título, se observa: "Espiritismo e Espiritualismo". E, neste, no segundo parágrafo há a justificativa do porquê Kardec ter escolhido o termo como sinônimo de Doutrina Espírita.Mas, será que é isso mesmo? Não se cogita de que o nome "Espiritismo" possa ser anterior a 1857 - e, com isso, prévio à própria Filosofia Espírita?Se sim, isto é, se o nome já existia, qual a sua origem? Como foi utilizado o termo?
