Society in the United States and around the world is becoming more and more polarized over issues that are not necessarily the root of the problem but rather the symptoms.Often these “symptom” issues are political, rather than spiritual and cause a dangerous division in the body of Christ.Today the United States are in agony over the old and new wounds caused by racism and this seemingly clear issue has been turned into a political battle. For an open conversation on racism I invited a fellow believer in Christ and a minister of the Gospel with whom we agree on many aspects and disagree on some. It gave me a great hope for the healing of our country. I believe it also shows the extreme importance of the unity in the body of Christ! The root of the problems we are facing is the battle between good and evil. If we pursue Christ with all of our hearts, we inevitably find ourselves on the right side of the most complex issues, even if we disagree on the “symptoms”. My guest today, is Pastor Clyde Ruffin, senior pastor of the Second Baptist Church in Columbia, MO, professor emeritus at the University of Missouri, representative for the First Ward and Mayor Pro Tem for the city of Columbia, MO, a husband to Sheila for 43 years, father of four, grandfather of six and a spiritual father to many.Email us: podcast@rfwma.orgSupport the podcast: https://www.rfwma.org/give/Support the show (https://rfwma.org/give)

Few Charlotteans may remember Earle Village, the public housing community built in First Ward just outside uptown. It was a bustling community that stretched from 6th Street to 10th Street, roughly bordered by Myers Street and Caldwell Street. It was the place where 400 of the city's poorest families resided — until the village was condemned to demolition in the 1990s.
