In Chicago, even democrats are acknowledging there's a crime problem. So why doesn't the mayor, or governor, do anything about it?

Some people love him, some people love to hate him, some people just hate him. But we connect with former Alderman, and the creator of the local news website Kenosha County Eye, Kevin Mathewson. From his young days of partying in Kenosha, to fighting the “old boys club” at City Council, and to his current day feuds, Kevin came to our studio proclaiming to be an “open book,” and he allowed us to ask him all the tough questions from his storied life! Craig Cussimanio - https://www.craigforward6.com/ The future of Annapolis is on the ballot this year, and the first big step comes on Tuesday, September 16th, with the Democratic Primary. While there are no contested Republican primaries, Democratic voters will be making critical choices in Ward 1, Ward 3, Ward 4, Ward 6, and for Mayor. The winners here will move on to November's general election, where they'll be joined by candidates in Ward 2, Ward 5, Ward 7, and Ward 8. This election could not be more important. Annapolis will elect a new mayor and see a majority of the City Council change hands. If you've ever wanted your voice heard—if you've ever wanted change—this is the time to show up and vote. Local elections determine how our neighborhoods grow, how our streets are maintained, how our taxes are spent, and how our future is shaped. Every single vote matters, and staying home is simply not an option. To help voters make informed decisions, we invited every candidate in a contested race to join us for an unedited podcast conversation. Each candidate was asked the same questions—none of which were provided in advance—and all had the opportunity to answer freely, speak at length, and close with their own pitch to voters. These were not polished campaign ads, but candid conversations meant to give you a better sense of the people behind the campaign signs. We encourage every voter to listen to these conversations. They're raw, honest, and a chance to hear directly from the people who want to represent you. Don't miss this opportunity to make your own decision based on what you hear—not just what you see on a mailer or a yard sign. September 16th is your chance to make a real impact on the future of Annapolis. Mark your calendar, remind your neighbors, and most importantly—show up and vote.

It's time for the weird giant battle. One of these seems to happen every book, and it's where we get super confused. Alex's clay creation, Pottery Barn, battles a lumpy clay giant, while TJ battles Hrungnir. Magnus just kind of stands there. Relatable king. We both wish we got to see more of Alex and Magnus's relationship developing. They defeat the giant and his clay friend, and are told to travel to Flam and take the train. But before they can do that, Blitz and Hearth return. It's time to face Hearth's father once again. They go to Alfheim and Alderman's home is not how they left it. Instead of a mean dad, they must face a mean dragon. We get a bit too deep because of Manasa's Thor's Rumbling question. Erin's question is silly, per usual. Commercial aviation is booming, but not for the reasons you'd expect. While the media fixates on tariffs, inflation, and geopolitical risks, industry insiders are seeing a very different picture. Airline profits are up, demand is strong, and aircraft backlogs are stretching eight years into the future. But underneath the optimism is something more nuanced: a market defined by high-cost inputs, a scramble for qualified labor, and a reshuffling of what counts as “value” in M&A. In this episode of The Aerospace Executive Podcast, M&A specialist Bill Alderman returns for his quarterly check-in on the state of the aerospace and defense sector. We unpack the surprising resilience of commercial aviation, why job shops are suddenly hot properties, and the real reasons behind rising multiples in the MRO and manufacturing space. Key Topics Covered: Why Job Shops Are Suddenly a Seller's Market The Real Tariff Story MRO's Growth May Have Peaked Delta's Blowout Quarter and What It Signals Good Accounting is Deal Fuel Defense Two Speeds, One Future Guest Bio William H. They are in the neighborhoods they cover every day building relationships over time with neighbors. We believe this ground-level approach not only builds community but leads to a more accurate portrayal of a neighborhood.Stories that matter to you — every daySince our launch five years ago, we've published more than 25,000 stories from the neighborhoods, covered hundreds of community meetings and send daily and neighborhood newsletters to more than 130,000 Chicagoans. We've built this loyalty by proving to folks we are not only covering their neighborhoods, we are a part of them. Some of us have internalized the national media's narrative of a broken Chicago. Milford's school district has been at the forefront of our news based on both the long-range facilities plans being discussed but also the ongoing division in the city following the Board of Alderman failing to allocate more money in the school budget to go back to the district. A new report is now outlining some major school changes that could be coming including a new high school and consolidating middles and elementary schools. We got the details from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Anna Cutaia and Sue Glennon, Chair of the Milford Board of Education. Image Credit: Getty Images
It may be episode 169 (nice), but the topics of these chapters are distinctively Not Nice! They're actually quite sad! Sam flies a plane (notably, without a license, which stresses Erin out) to drop Hearth, Magnus, and Stone Blitz off in Alfheim, to see a guy about a hot stone. The guy with the hot stone is unfortunately Hearth's abusive father. We hate Mr. Alderman. He would probably be into the Alpha Male culture if he was a human. We get to learn a lot about elf culture and society, and get a glimpse into Hearth's not-so-nice childhood. In the aerospace and defense industry, unpredictability is a constant—but there's a big difference between manageable risk and outright volatility. With tariff changes, shifting trade policy, and rising political uncertainty, the real threat isn't just higher costs. It's the cascading impact these factors have on employment, supply chain stability, and economic confidence across the sector. But while headlines focus on chaos, the real story is unfolding elsewhere. Aerospace market fundamentals are solid. Demand is strong. And strategic investors are making big moves—especially in business aviation. Behind the scenes, this sector is evolving fast, and the implications for OEMs, MRO providers, and private equity are significant. In this episode of The Aerospace Executive Podcast, sell-side investment banker Bill Alderman joins us for his quarterly deep dive into the state of the industry. We unpack why business aviation remains a top-performing segment, how consolidation in the MRO and aftermarket services space signals deeper transformation, and what smart leaders are doing to stay ahead—by focusing on what they can control rather than chasing headlines. Key Topics Covered: → Tariff Whiplash and Aerospace Workforce Planning How rapid shifts in international trade policy could lead to unintended layoffs across aerospace and defense sectors. → The Rise of Business Aviation Why record-low inventories, continued demand, and strong order backlogs are fueling growth for business jet OEMs and MRO providers. → Private Equity's Big Bet on MRO What's driving the surge in M&A activity as investors snap up smaller aerospace maintenance and repair shops. → Boeing's Cultural Crossroads Why Boeing's biggest challenge isn't global politics—it's rebuilding internal morale, leadership credibility, and trust with customers. Anecdotally, things look good in the M&A market, but I am worried that the noise in the system could lead to layoffs, and that's not good for anybody. -Bill Alderman Guest Bio William H.
