Ahead of Election Day, Republicans have been campaigning hard to keep hold of their slim majority in the House. On top of their mission to keep House control and place former President Trump back in the White House, they've set their sights on a loftier goal: winning back the Senate majority. Democrats currently control the Senate by a two-seat majority, but come voting day, 23 Democratic seats will be up for grabs (including independent Senators Bernie Sanders and Angus King). Director of the FOX News Decision Desk, Arnon Miskin, joins the Rundown to break down which states are forecast to have tight senate races, why certain candidates are particularly vulnerable this campaign season, and how these contests will impact the balance of power in Washington. A record number of Americans are hitting retirement age. More than 4 million baby boomers are turning 65, with projections showing this number to continue rising through 2027. America's “Silver Tsunami” has prompted fresh concerns about whether there are enough younger workers to fill the vacuum and if massive programs like Medicare and Social Security can be sustained amid this exploding 65+ demographic. Trump campaign economic adviser and economist at the Heritage Foundation, Steve Moore, says the implications of the “silver tsunami” promise to cause “real financial stress.” He breaks down whether America is equipped to deal with the labor force and its health care repercussions. Plus, commentary from the host of OutKick's Tomi Lahren is Fearless, Tomi Lahren. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Today, we are excited to introduce you to Will Rollins, the Democratic Candidate running for US Congress in California's 41st congressional district - possibly the single most flippable district in the United States. MAGA Republican Extremist Ken Calvert, who voted against certifying the 2020 election, has had a cushy gig as a member of Congress in a safe red seat for decades. But due to recent redistricting in California, this once securely red seat is now ripe for the taking. And Democrat Will Rollins, a former national security prosecutor, is ready to flip this seat. We sat down with Will for this exclusive interview and we hope you enjoy. Nebraska Congressional District 1 Candidate Patty Pansing Brooks joins the Swing Left Nebraska Podcast AGAIN to discuss the incredible success of her campaign in the special election on June 28th and her strong path forward to victory in the Midterms on November 8th. Jeff Fortenberry previously held this seat, but he officially resigned on March 31st due to his conviction for three federal felonies for lying to the FBI about illegal campaign donations. As a result, GOP Senator Mike Flood of Norfolk faced Patty for a special election to seat the remainder of Jeff Fortenberry's term until January of this year. Patty only lost to Flood by a 53% to 47% margin. In other words, she crushed it! This was the closest election for a democratic candidate in this district since 1974. The voters are ready for a candidate who leads with compassion, is a champion for reproductive / LGBTQIA + rights, and will fight fiercely to build a system that works for everyone. This! Seat! Is! Flippable! Visit pattyforcongress.com to learn more about Patty, donate to her campaign, or sign up to volunteer. Episode interview with NorCalGuy, find his Twitter https://twitter.com/GuyNorcal (GuyNorcal) and check out his podcast https://twitter.com/norcalandshill (NorCal and Shill) Time Stamps [1:11 – 2:14] Heard about https://www.cryptokitties.co/ (CryptoKitties) back in 2017, thought it was just people paying money for a jpeg. By the end of 2020 he got into https://nbatopshot.com/ (TopShot). [2:20 – 3:57] TopShot appealed to NorCalGuy because it seemed like something normies could get into not just crypto guys. His friends like sports so it was a good place to start. Moved to a love of https://www.tate.org.uk/art/art-terms/g/generative-art (generative art). Building relationship with artist through purchases brought him to really love 1/1s. [3:52 – 5:45] https://www.artnews.com/art-news/news/pfp-nfts-future-market-1234602384/ (PFPs) are more of a quick income generator, 1/1s are more long term. Generative art falls between the two. This value pyramid is based on the fact that PFPs are just easier to sell. People like, https://twitter.com/cathsimard_ (Cath Simard) for example, who work hard and get into the community, NorCalGuy feels those works will appreciate. [5:45 – 6:34] This echoes similar comments from traditional art collectors who are trying to cross over. Some of them see an appeal of flippable projects but others really still value the due diligence of traditional relationships. [6:34 – 7:56] NorCalGuy feels that most PFPs don't have enough community behind them. Instead, with 1/1s, if it's the art that you like and you can connect with that artist and what they do, then you can gauge better the outcome. Most of his 1/1s have come with a physical copy. If getting into it now he would buy established PFP projects like a https://www.larvalabs.com/cryptopunks (Punk) or an https://boredapeyachtclub.com/#/ (Ape) as a hedge against the 1/1s. [7:56 – 9:31] For Kizu this is similar to a traditional gallery space, not wanting to be purely commercial while also wanting to support experimental work. Flippable projects subsidize love for less commercial works. He compares this to how NorCalGuy collects. [9:31 – 11:48] Sabretooth talks about how the 1/1 format of collecting really started with https://superrare.com/ (SuperRare) and this is now common, but before that 1/1s were not really native to crypto art. Looking at web 2.0 or even 1.0, the things that tend to succeed are native and not https://www.interaction-design.org/literature/topics/skeuomorphism (skeumorphic). If this model continued, could it be the case that 1/1s become relics of their time? [11:55 – 14:00] Primary or secondary collecting doesn't matter to NorCalGuy. With https://twitter.com/imbrendannorth?lang=en (Brendon North) it was initially all secondary but he got it for almost the same price as primary. He determines whether good price or not by looking at things like; previous sales, social engagement, and non-NFT sales. Ultimately it goes off gut feeling, recommendation, and experience. [14:00 – 18:03] Sabretooth draws attention to the idea that NFT collectors and crypto investors are basically making relative valuations based on other currencies or works that are successful. NorCalGuy feels that rather than taking that approach, he really goes off of artist's work ethic and proof that they're in it for the long haul. He gives the example of photographer http://www.ericrubensphotography.com/ (Eric Rubens) or https://twitter.com/imbrendannorth?lang=en (Brendan North). [18:03 – 20:06] Instagram changed the game for a lot of artists; it created a line of direct communication with buyers that fostered a relationship of tailoring work. Previously this was only done through galleries. NorCalGuy doesn't want to give artistic direction. He stays with the

Joining us today is the founder of Flippable and Swing Left’s chief strategist, Catherine Vaughan. She is going to introduce us to Swing Left's newest innovation, Blueprint! It's your personalized investment portfolio for the 2020 elections! It's a new way for you to donate and get involved with the whole big picture in mind.
On this episode of The Open Mind, we're delighted to welcome two leading organizers in the movement to rebuild and preserve American democracy. Ethan Todras-Whitehill is the cofounder and executive director of Swing Left. Prior to the election of Trump, he was a writer, journalist, and teacher. After the 2016 election, he decided to step off the sidelines and become more politically active. He started Swing Left to make it easier for others to do the same. Last year, Swing Left successfully mobilized a grassroots army to take back the House. Catherine Vaughan is the chief strategy officer of Swing Left. She was previously the CEO and cofounder of Flippable, an organization to support candidates running for state office. Flippable supported 80 percent of all flips accomplished in their target chambers in 2018 and directed 91 percent of funds toward races decided by less than 10 points. This year Swing Left recently unveiled it's Super State Strategy for 2020 designed to organize progressive victories across the White House, the US Senate and state houses by focusing on 11 so-called Super States, volunteers and donors can multiply their impact up and down the ballot. And I might add that now Flippable is a part of Swing Left. You guys are working together towards those collective goals.
In Episode 67, Quinn & Brian ask: Is Climate Change "Flippable"?. Our guest is Catherine Vaughan, CEO and Co-Founder of Flippable, an organization dedicated to flipping state governments from red to blue. You may not be surprised that Catherine is, indeed, one of the people trying to make a positive change by getting states back on the light side of the Force. So, when it comes to things like climate change, cancer, clean energy, (the Presidency,) artificial intelligence... are those things Flippable? The answer better be yes, or this is going to be a very depressing episode. So, pay attention today, because the answer just might help us get on the right track to an even better place – not to where we were or are, obviously, because that place was and is not great. She learned that lesson the hard way a year ago, over too many glasses of whiskey at a Cleveland bar, where she and the rest of Hillary Clinton's Ohio field team were supposed to be celebrating. Instead, they were mourning. Now, as CEO of the progressive startup Flippable, which she co-founded to raise funding for Democratic state house races, Vaughan faces yet another test of a year's worth of work.

18 September 2017 – Every time Denise Oliver-Velez is on our show I learn so much! This week we asked Denise to join us to cover what is happening in the Caribbean following Hurricane Irma. I particularly loved the posts Denise put up at Daily Kos on Puerto Rico and the history of the word “hurricane” as well as her thoughts on the subject. We spend most of our time on Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, the places where Irma really did first make landfall in the US. (If you thought that was Florida you weren’t alone.) In our Lying Liar Lie of the Week segment Will talks about an attack against a trans woman during a protest at Speaker’s Corner in the UK. Fortunately, it was caught on video and Will walks us through it as well as posting the video and some stills here. In Lying Liar I talk for just a minute about Equifax who is making the obviously false statement that “they are doing everything they can.” This is clearly not the case and I’m quite sure we will be talking about them in the near future. In Will’s big block he talked about climate change, weather, alternate energy and politics. It’s appalling to think that the states which most need to confront new kinds of energy generation are fighting it the hardest. In my block I get into the profits being made by Facebook, Google and tech in general, to promulgate hate. The blood money tech companies are taking as they act as conduits for hate groups (and terrorism) is much more costly to society than it is profitable in annual reports. We simply must find an effective way to address this. And one more thing… In a special election, scheduled for 26 September, Florida State Senate candidate Annette Taddeo is facing an extreme get-out-the-vote (GOTV) challenge. She is running in District 40, which is Miami-Dade, and many of her prospective constituents are among those who had to evacuate. Flippable.org has identified this race as one which can be won but needs immediate help. Anything you can do would be appreciated. Carrots! – Arliss
Devon and Sarah are finally reunited (though still long distance). They discuss healthcare, Democratic strategy and HRC. Devon sits down with Catherine Vaughan, the CEO of flippable.org to talk about how Democrats can win vulnerable Republican seats. They also award the Hellion of the Week.
In Episode 13 of The Great Battlefield we talk with Catherine Vaughan about why state legislatures matter and Flippable's work to turn our country blue from by focusing on flippable state legislative seats and chambers.
Welcome to the Great Battlefield from Resistance Dashboard. The Resistance Dashboard team is excited launch the Great Battlefield. Here is a teaser with some of our featured guests including Indivisible Policy Director Gonzalo Martinez de Vedia; Resistbot founder Jason Putorti; Flippable founder Catherine Vaughn and Let America Vote founder Jason Kander.
16 January 2017 - The genius of flippable.org is that it engages us with "small bite" activism. On a weekly basis Flippable suggests little bits we can each actually do to help Democrats take back state legislatures and governor's mansions around the nation. Catherine Vaughan and Chris Walsh, two of the three Flippable founders, join us to talk about the genesis of the project and the leadership they and their team are collectively providing to flip targeted state legislatures from red to blue. I know that 2018 and 2020 seem like a long way away but in political terms they are, basically, tomorrow. Time is short and, as Catherine says, we can sleep after the 2020 election. Between now and then, we work. What I love about Flippable is that I can do the things they suggest in a reasonable amount of time and still know that I am making a difference. This is the drip, drip, drip, drip constant activism, constant pressure that matters. Will and I started the show talking about specific journalists. I dive into the genuinely remarkable life of Clare Hollingsworth and Will wonders about what the hell happened to Glenn Greenwald. Clare Hollingsworth was the first female war correspondent (as we know that profession today). She is the reporter who got the scoop and broke the story that World War II had begun. She was the first person to figure out and the first reporter to break the story that Kim Philby was the infamous "third man" and that he had defected to Russia. Hollingsworth was at the very front, in fact often behind enemy lines, of all the many conflicts she covered and her reporting was renowned for peeling back the layers and complexities of war.
