Quin Snyder was an in-season hire by the Atlanta Hawks and he increased offensive efficiency. Patty Mills and Wesley Matthews were notable additions for the Hawks. Exiting were John Collins and Aaron Holiday. It was a disappointing 27-55 mark for Charlotte last year. They selected Brandon Miller with the second pick in the draft but was unimpressive in Summer League. The Hornets had four picks in the first two rounds of the draft. Dennis Smith Jr.

The key is having Doncic and Irving on the court together. Grant Williams brings much needed defense and rebounding. San Antonio added veterans Reggie Bullock and Cedi Osman. The Dallas Mavericks have fallen to .500 at 34 - 34 with 14 games left. Their playoff odds are down to 52% and their two stars are dealing with injuries. While some discuss whether or not Mavs Twitter is part of the actual fanbase, those of us who only get to interact with other Mavs fans online deal with the reality of the situation. Meanwhile, Frank Ntilikina and Theo Pinson, who have played recently, did not see the court at all. Does this mean that Hardy should have been in the rotation all along? The Dallas Mavericks get a big win at home over the Portland Trail Blazers. The Blazers were not short-handed in this one so this win is a big deal. Luka and the gang not having to play over 30 minutes on the first night of a back-to-back means they should have more in the tank for Cleveland as well. The NBA season is almost upon us and this week kicked off with Media Day. This episode was recorded prior to the media day festivities but The Outsiders are clairvoyant and happened to hit most of the hot topics from Mavs media day. First up was the idea of Frank Ntilikina as the 3rd ball handler. The Mavs doubled and later tripled down on believing in Frank as the primary PG off the bench and Reese and Bibs had some thoughts. (Note: Bibs later saw pictures of Frank from media day and takes back everything he said about Frank not knowing how to use his arms, per his tweet about this topic). We then moved to Christian Wood. The media day's hot topic was the idea of Christian Wood coming off the bench and his potential feelings about it. Kidd did confirm that this is the plan and Wood joked during media day about not knowing this was the case, but it was just that a joke. Reese and Bibs discussed this topic prior to media day and their feelings did not change after the day's events. Finally, with regard to Mavs-specific topics, the Outsiders discussed what the Mavs rotations should be. The team is deep but what does that mean for everyone's minutes and roles? Sticking with basketball, the Outsiders talked about ESPN's top 5 players, the reaction to the list, and whether or not we agree with the rankings. Luka came in 3rd on the list behind Giannis Antentokounmpo and Nikola Jokic with Joel Embiid and Steph Curry rounding out the list. NBA Free Agency is one of the most exciting times of the year unless you're a Dallas Mavericks fan. For at least the past 11 years free agency has not been kind to the Mavericks and this year was set up perfectly for the Mavs to have a rough go at it. Jalen Brunson being an unrestricted free agent meant that if someone had cap space he could leave without the Mavericks getting anything in return. On top of this, with Luka Doncic's max contract going into effect, the team did not have any money to spend. Thus far in free agency, the Mavs have acquired one new player, JaVale McGee, and retained two old players, The Mavs re-signed elite cheerleader Theo Pinson and guaranteed the contract of a player who stepped up in the playoffs in Frank Ntilikina. However, it is the moves that the Mavs didn't make that seem to have the attention of the fanbase. After it looked almost hopeless, The Outsiders suggested that if the Mavs wanted to get back into the series they had to do something different. They did, and it resulted in a Game 3 win. The Mavs started posting Luka up and also swapped Frank Ntilikina into the rotation for Josh Green. Both moves were highly effective and just like that the Dallas Mavericks are back in the series. Being back on their home court also seemed to fuel the team. Game 4 is another big one where a loss puts us right back into an almost impossible situation while a win changes everything completely.
