The 2021-2022 season saw the Charlotte Hornets have the franchise's best season since 2016. Qualifying for the play in game as the 10th seed for the second straight year, but ended the season on a sour note with a 29 point L to the Atlanta Hawks. Lamelo Ball has hit the ground running during his first two seasons in the NBA, winning Rookie of the Year and becoming the 4th youngest player in NBA history to get named to the all star game. The problem is the team around him's future is uncertain following Miles Bridges getting in trouble for being an alleged abuser and lack of clarity on the long term building blocks. Burning Questions: -Year 3 of Lamelo Ball expectations -Is a soft rebuild the best route for this team to take in 2023? -Can Mark Williams or Kai Jones establish themselves as the center of the future this season? -PJ Washington contract season -Can James Bouknight or Bryce McGowens play enough defense to get consistent minutes? -Part Two of the Steve Clifford regime as Head Coach
It's been said that in modern America, the question people are asking is not “is Christianity true” but rather “are Christians good?” In Luke 10:27, Jesus forever links loving God with loving other people, saying “love your neighbor as yourself” and then doubles down with the famous story of the Good Samaritan. Steve Clifford and Andy Gridley stop by to unpack why this is so important and so difficult - before sharing pastoral advice on how to grow in this crucial area. Andy shares a moving story about a difficult-to-love neighbor and how the lesson isn't always “the outcome will be perfect” but rather “God is trying to grow you in the area of love.” Also: Also, David is left speechless when Steve questions his love for yogurt when in fact, David is very pro-yogurt. Speakers: David Tieche + Steve Clifford + Andy Gridley

For the past three weeks, we've examined not only the reality of a spiritual realm, but also the idea that all of humanity is locked in spiritual battle with a vicious, lying spiritual enemy - the Satan. This week, Steve Clifford stops by to talk about the good news - we have a God who is not only immeasurably more wise and powerful than the Devil, but equips His children to win this war. Speaking of losing battles, Steve also talks about the Dallas Cowboys and David throws out a hypothesis about systemic sin and the NFL. Speakers: David Tieche + Steve Clifford

Wellll, welll, well. Carolina Cast Listeners, Before we get into this episode, I want to address that we will be dissecting the Miles Bridges incident. If you are unaware of this incident, it pertains to domestic violence and abuse. These topics may be triggering and it could be advised that you don't listen to all or parts of this episode, especially those that mention these topics. Additionally, all information I state on this show about the incident does not reflect my opinions or beliefs about Miles Bridges. While I have supported Bridges, and still support his basketball abilities, I am incredibly disappointed in his recent actions. I, in no way, condone his actions; I am simply going to be breaking this down from the perspective of a Hornets fan. In the end, there is no excuse to be domestically violent to the point of causing another person harm. That being said, we will be discussing the nuances of the Miles Bridges incident that we are aware of including what we know and when his court date will be. Miles Bridges is currently out on $130,000 bail. There were injuries sustained by the woman involved required medical treatment and an overnight stay in the hospital. Miles Bridges will appear in court on July 20th. Damning evidence has been released, including a video of Bridges' son talking about the incident. These details and more will be discussed, covering all the information that has been made public at the moment! Beyond this Miles Bridges fiasco, the NBA has officially opened free agency! This is an extremely important time while we continue to shape our team. It leaves us with tons of questions. Who will we acquire? How are we going to shape our team? Are we going to be keeping the guys we have on free agency? There have already been tons of trades and signings as soon as free agency opened up for the NBA. It has been an incredibly busy time and it's only been about a day at this point. It's going to be interesting to see how things continue to pan out as we head toward the beginning of the season. This is especially true given that the Hornets have made no moves in regard to free agency as of right now--the only team not to. As fans, we gained a lot of insight from the recent press conference with Mitch Kupchak and Steve Clifford. Most of this information is a bit irrelevant now given the situation with Bridges. The Hornets have addressed that they know about the situation but have not commented further. If I'm honest, I doubt we will hear any new information at least until the preliminary hearing for Bridges--and that's at the earliest. Switching gears a bit, the Panthers are prepping for training camp at the end of this month! With this, we are going to see some competition for multiple positions this season. What that will look like is still up in the air as we still have yet to see the level of skill these rookies have; however, we will get an idea of what that will look like during training camp and the preseason games, which starts in only 34 days. We're going to get into ALL of this and so much more! Be sure to leave a chat, say hi, or comment if you pop in. I love talking to listeners and hearing your feedback! Well, well, wellll. Carolina Cast Fam, do we have a lot to get into tonight or what? Last night was the long-awaited NBA Draft and what we did with our picks was... surprising. We used both picks in the first round to acquire new players. I was awaiting the pick, watching my personal first choice Jalen Duren fall. Then, he was in our laps...and we chose him! Just as soon as he was with the Charlotte Hornets, he was gone. Reminiscent of another situation recently; *cough* *cough* Kenny Atkinson. But, in all seriousness, the trade deal still doesn't make sense. Why wouldn't we keep Duren? Or just trade away the pick to begin with? 1 first-rounder and 4 2nd's don't really make sense... but that could just be me. However, per Mitch Kupchak's report, we did get our first center pick at 15 with Mark Williams. He is taller and seems to bring the right attitude to the team. This could be what we need to create a team that wants to stick together--one that can have good performances on the national stage. And just as we closed out last night, thinking we wouldn't have a head coach decision for a while longer, bombshell news is dropped just this afternoon: Steve Clifford is our new head coach. So, let's just get this straight: we fired Clifford to hire Borrego to fire Borrego to hire Clifford. Yeah, makes perfect sense. Not lol. There are so many more details we will be getting into about the 2022 NBA draft, Hornets, and all the BUZZ that's going around.
