Bom dia!

Annie F. Downs—New York Times best-selling author, speaker, and podcaster—is known for her infectious energy and the fun she brings to everything she does. 20250228 Ep 918 - A Ordem será InvertidaBom dia!

Lead with purpose with a degree from Trevecca. Find out more here. In this episode, Christine Caine welcomes Dr. Kara Powell, Executive Director of the Fuller Youth Institute. Kara believes faith-filled teenagers and young adults can change our world, but they need parents and mentors to intentionally invest in their lives. This episode will equip you to better understand today's youth, provide you with practical ideas for discipleship, and ignite a passion within you for a future-focused church. SHOW NOTES: Intentional Investments Kara asks: “Can we as adults be more intentional in how we reach out to the young people God's already put in our paths?” She challenges Christian adults to open their hearts and lives to the young people around them. They are hungry for discipleship! Invest Like Jesus Teenagers are looking for identity, belonging, and purpose, and they have many sources to provide answers. Kara firmly believes Jesus is the best answer. She challenges us to accompany young people, pointing them to Jesus, the ultimate source of our identity, belonging, and purpose. Jesus himself invited young men and women into his life, teaching them how to follow God. We are wise to do the same! Future Focused Church Kara's has a new book releasing this spring that provides useful information to help churches make changes for future generations. If your church feels stuck in guiding young people, this book will provide the insights needed to help you focus on four things: 1. Who you are as a church: what are your strengths and how do you make sure people are engaged? 2. Understanding the church's current reality by listening to all generations, especially young people. 3. Focus on the future. What is God's vision for the church? 4. Christine Caine's Life & Leadership Podcast with Propel Women
Lead with purpose with a degree from Trevecca. Find out more here. In this episode, Christine Caine welcomes clinical psychologist, Dr. Rhiannon DuBois, who oversees the global aftercare program for A21. Dr. Rhiannon reflects on her experience with divorce and brings practical wisdom for grieving in redemptive ways. This episode will equip you with three coping practices when dealing with trauma. SHOW NOTES: Three Coping Practices 1. Emotion-focused coping involves acknowledging and feeling the emotions surrounding your situation and then processing those emotions through journaling, praying, or talking to a trusted friend or counselor. 2. Solution or problem-focused coping looks at what you must do to move forward and function. 3. Lastly, avoidant coping avoids the pain by denying the issue and, in extreme cases, turning to drugs or alcohol to numb the pain. It can even be Netflix binging, retail therapy, or anything that distracts you from dealing with the feelings associated with the trauma. Avoid Avoidance Research tells us that emotion and problem-focused coping are the healthiest ways to deal with grief. Avoidance might work for a while but eventually comes out in anger or aggression. Like a volcano, your feelings will erupt in unhealthy ways. Giving yourself structured time to practice emotion-focused coping will help you process your feelings within a set time so you can deal with the emotions rather than avoid them. Problem-focused coping helps maintain purpose when life can feel hopeless. Accepting the Unacceptable Life can be excruciatingly hard, but Rhiannon encourages us that rather than ruminating on what we can't change and remaining stuck in suffering, we can accept that we don't understand. There is freedom in accepting the situation and laying it down in the hands of our Heavenly Father who sees the whole picture and will lovingly guide us through the pain. Jenn encourages women to embrace that you cannot separate your gender from your leadership – it's ok to bring all of yourself into your participation in the mission of God. This episode will encourage you to lead from the heart of who God created you to be and show up well in your strengths. SHOW NOTES: Heart-led Leadership Jenn emphasizes the value of female leadership due to their natural bend toward connectivity. Women also, at their best, often lead from their heart, drawing people together and cultivating unity in a world bent toward isolation. Heart leadership is motivated by empathy, courage, vulnerability, and connectivity, which is innate for women. The Condition of Our Hearts Christine stresses that women are in no way better, less sinful, or more capable than men. Sin is genderless. Both men and women must lead from a healthy heart that is redeemed by the Lord. Christian leadership is NEVER a competition, rather we should be working together. Transparency and Accountability Those leading from the heart are naturally honest and authentic in their communications with others. Additionally, Christine and Jenn remind us that leaders need to have discernment about what to share publicly versus privately. It's wise to discern what conversations are meant to be had in close relationships, and what is meant to be shared with wider circles. Follow Jenn @Jmeganbrown on Instagram. Christine Caine's Life & Leadership Podcast with Propel Women
Lead with purpose with a degree from Trevecca. Find out more here. In this episode, Christine Caine welcomes college professor, author, and passionate leader, Dr. Arianna Molloy. Dr. Arianna warns us not to confuse the importance of our calling with the One who called us in the first place, which often leads to a loss of self and exhaustion. Today's conversation will equip you with the tools to avoid burnout, walk in humility, and flourish in your calling with a right perspective of God. SHOW NOTES: Healthy Calling In her book, Healthy Calling, Arianna defines calling as, “a meaningful passion, and something you're skilled to do that makes a positive impact on others.” She says your calling is an opportunity to take Jesus with you into your sphere of influence. Avoiding Burnout As Christians, every calling necessitates loving God and loving others through the skill sets God provides. Knowing and living out our God-given purpose keeps us motivated, fulfilled, and satisfied in our work. Confusing our calling with our Caller, and allowing our occupation to become our identity, often leads to burnout. Maintaining Humility 1. Know your strengths and weaknesses. And don't get distracted by either one. 2. Be a lifelong learner. 3. Be able to step away for a moment to sabbath, remaining dependent upon the Lord for meaning and purpose. Christine Caine's Life & Leadership Podcast with Propel Women
Lead with purpose with a degree from Trevecca. Find out more here. In this episode, Christine Caine and Priscilla Shirer offer a wealth of wisdom about surrendering our lives fully to the plan and purposes of God, no matter the call or the cost. We often find ourselves wondering if we are hearing from God correctly, if we are overthinking, and what might happen if we “get it wrong.” In today's conversation, Christine and Priscilla bring practical methods for checking-in with God and moving forward with confidence. SHOW NOTES: Daily Surrender Jesus says, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me” (Luke 9:23). Priscilla remarks that to take up our cross “means something has to die. We have to be willing to loosen our grip on the things that we hold dear for the sake of making sure that nothing and no one is in first place over him.” An Anchored Soul Christine asks how we can know if something has taken first place in our lives. Priscilla gives us three practical indicators: 1. Our time. If we aren't spending time with the Lord it's because he's not a priority, not because we don't have time. 2. Our treasures. Are we giving to the Lord and his work? 3. Our significance. What have I tied myself to and how can I ask the Lord to help me recalibrate? A Mother's Prayer For mothers, surrendering their children can be hard. Priscilla reminds us that we don't have control over older children, but we can pray the Holy Spirit speaks to them, works in them, protects them, and transforms their hearts in ways only God can. Prayer calls down heaven's power onto our earthly circumstances, reaping a mighty harvest from the petitions sown. Follow Priscilla @PriscillaShirer and check out her new movie, The Forge. Christine Caine's Life & Leadership Podcast with Propel Women
Lead with purpose with a degree from Trevecca. Find out more here. Listen in as Christine Caine discusses the difference between information, knowledge, and wisdom. She reminds us that the “fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge” (Proverbs 1:7) and challenges us to ask God for the wisdom (James 1:5) needed to live a godly life. If you find yourself overwhelmed by the amount of information at our fingertips and have a hunger to hear from God, listen in and find tips and encouragement to pursue Jesus today. SHOW NOTES: Wisdom Deficiency Our world is saturated with information, necessitating the priority of seeking God's wisdom above all else–because wisdom provides the insight needed to apply knowledge properly. Heart of Wisdom Given the opportunity to ask God for anything, Solomon petitioned for a “discerning heart to govern” Israel (1 Kings 3:9). God answered his request because wise actions flow from a wise heart (Proverbs 4:23). Ask for Wisdom How many times do we go to Google before we go to God? We have questions or need insight, and instead of seeking the Lord, we search the internet. In this episode, Christine Caine gets open and honest about the importance of maintaining friendships in every season, no matter how demanding schedules become. She will encourage you to make time for friends, be a good friend, and know when to let go of unhealthy relationships. You don't want to miss this Q&A! SHOW NOTES: Be Friendly Scripture teaches that if we want friends we must be friendly (Proverbs 18:24). Nick and Christine live by this verse as friendly, godly people who exemplify the importance of prioritizing friendship in every season of life. Intentionally Invest in Others Just like we can't talk to the Lord once a week and have a healthy, vibrant spiritual life—talking to friends at our convenience won't cultivate strong relationships. Christ-centered love is sacrificial, selflessly valuing others above yourself (Philippians 2:3). Cultivate a Close Circle Paul tells us to carry each other's burdens (Galatians 6:2) because sometimes life is too much to shoulder alone. Christine encourages us to have a close circle of trustworthy, like-minded friends with whom we can confide. In this episode, Christine Caine shares how prayer is the foundation of her life and ministry. Listen in to find encouragement today if you've ever wrestled with how to pray or struggled with unanswered prayers. SHOW NOTES: First Response For Christine and Nick, prayer has become a first response when navigating challenging situations in life, but it's also their first response when things are going well. Prayer is not regulated only for times of crisis but also for times of praise. “Open Mouth. Pray” A Christian speaker from South Korea forever impacted Christine when she challenged an audience to not overcomplicate prayer. She said you simply need to open your mouth, then pray. Dependency Upon God Christine shares that she cannot provide the breakthroughs needed in her life and ministry. However, prayer invites God's divine activity into our lives, expressing our utter dependence upon the Lord and our need for his intervention. The two discuss the importance of integrating faith and psychology, and the implications learning to do so can have on your life and leadership. If you have a dream in your heart but feel like you're lacking the time and energy needed to execute the plan, Debra will encourage you, from her own experience, to give God the moments you do have and watch him work in inexplicable ways. SHOW NOTES: Shifting with Seasons Whether past trauma or learned behaviors from childhood, everyone has things they need to confront to be a healthy adult. As Debra says, “Sometimes the things that served us in one season sabotage us in another season.” Love Yourself Yes, Scripture teaches us to “deny ourselves,” but we are also called to “love your neighbor as you love yourself.” While it's wrong to be obsessed with self, it's also wrong not to love yourself and care for the body and soul God gave you. Invitation to Heal Past pain or trauma can resurface during busy seasons when we feel our capacity is maxed. Debra encourages us not to shrink back or give up but to lean into the pain so we can heal. In this episode, Dr. Sarita Lyons joins Christine Caine on the Propel Women podcast to talk about what it means to be a “church girl” as a black woman. In this episode you will be encouraged that God's word is relevant in any and every corner of discovering your purpose, identity and calling. Dr. Sarita will empower you to face the particular spiritual challenges and opportunities you face in the culture and context God has placed you. Show Notes: Loving the Local Church “We should love what Christ loves and we should hate what Christ hates. And one of the things Christ does not hate is the local church.” Context Matters This focus is needed for black believers to understand their calling and for all believers to acknowledge that cultural context follows God's biblical pattern. “Black segments of the world are saying Christianity is a white man's religion. You need someone like me who has walked a mile in a black woman's shoes to say no, Jesus came to die for everyone.” Unexpected Idols and Unidentified Prophets Over time, God used faithful witnesses to chip away at Dr. Sarita's idolatry. She encourages us not to underestimate the impact that our small moments of witness might have. “We accomplish more in prayer than we think. God is not weak. God is not slow. And, God is not late.” Follow @drsaritalyons on Instagram and get your own copy of Church Girl. In this episode, Christine Caine welcomes Katie Modrau, country manager for A21 South Africa. Katie's story is one of needing to lead and pilot in areas where she was young and underqualified. “Don't fake it ‘til you make it,” advises Katie, “but learn where your limitations are.” Christine and Katie encourage us to trust that God has put us in the places he has, while remembering it's our responsibility to learn, grow, and improve our skills in order to steward those opportunities well. Listen in as Katie shares the sobering reality of A21's work in South Africa and be reminded that God has you where you are for a reason and that no matter how underqualified you feel, you can learn and grow as you lead. Show Notes: Remain flexible Katie had plans to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy, but her life was irrevocably changed when she heard about human trafficking. Even when you feel underqualified and inexperienced, you can move forward and steward God's opportunities. Learn Your Limits Leaders often have to pioneer new things, which means needing to grow and learn on the job, knowing our limits and being honest about them. God uses life experiences to equip us so we can equip others and be patient as they are learning. Learn as You Go Katie encourages us to put in the work to develop skills to steward our opportunities well. Faith doesn't just mean “winging it.” We need to commit to developing strengths and skills for the tasks God has given us. Leading a Tired Team To ensure her workers can go the distance, Katie puts practices in place like vacation time and counseling opportunities, but reminds us that each person is responsible to implement those. We are responsible for implementing our own boundaries in the ebb and flow of life's challenges. — Follow Katie on Instagram @KatieModrau. In this episode, our host, Christine Caine, welcomes Rev. Dr. Nicole Martin, Chief Impact Officer with Christianity Today. Nicole shares how God has used her education, experiences (both successes and disappointments), and the direction of the Spirit to equip her to live and lead with discernment at home and in the workplace. It's not just one part of us that God calls to follow him, rather it's our whole person. Nicole will encourage you today to bring your whole self into every space and place God leads you. Show Notes: God's Detours In many of the disappointing “side” routes she has faced, Nicole says God has been actively detouring her so that He could sharpen her skills or show her new things He had for her. What divine detours might God be leading you on? A Seat at the Table Nicole recalls, “when you get to the table, it's your job to speak up for who's not there.” We all have a role in creating pathways for other leaders and voices that are noticeably not present. Bring Your Whole Self “Code-switching” and having to adapt yourself to new environments is exhausting. Nicole shares how discernment is learning to “listen to the Holy Spirit to know when it's time to pull back or push forward,” not because you're too much or not enough, “but because you're waiting for the appointed time.” Do What Only you can do Our bodies are one way God signals to us that we have limits. If we're overwhelmed, Nicole suggests it may be time for us to be discerning about what needs to change. Christine shares that none of us can do it all, and we can practice accepting help from others where it's available, so that we are able to prioritize the relationships and tasks that only we can do. Today on the podcast, Lisa Harper is back and, amidst so many laughs – of course, she and Christine Caine give a behind-the-scenes exclusive look at the creation and purpose of their new 4-week Bible Study and video series The Marvel and Miracle of Advent. For many of us, we've heard all about Christmas and the birth of Jesus, but not about Advent. As Christine and Lisa share, you will be encouraged to explore Advent and recapture the wonder of Jesus living among us during the approaching holiday season. SHOW NOTES: What is Advent? Advent is the oldest and best story of God's arrival and its implicit rescue: as J.I. Packer wrote: “Nothing in fiction is more fantastic than the incarnation.” Why focus on Advent? Advent rekindles our awe and wonder, and gets us ready to reengage a hurting world with hope. As Christine explains, Advent activates us: “Activation is an inherent part of preparation.” Hope for a Hurting World Our world is hurting, and needs those who love Jesus to shepherd people through pain well. As Lisa says, “Jesus doesn't say he'll take the pain away; he says He'll be present with us in it.” The message of Advent grounds us in real hope as we face the future. Despite the increase in gold prices, mining stocks have underperformed due to factors like rising costs and geopolitical risks. However, strong earning reports from top companies are attracting momentum investors, potentially triggering a bull market for precious metals. John emphasizes the importance of investing psychology and buying undervalued assets during bear markets. He also discusses the cyclicality of mining sector, potential acquisitions following strong earnings, and the significance of both fundamental setups and technical indicators when considering gold and silver investments. Have you ever had your plans completely derailed by God? Today on the podcast, Christine Caine's dear friend, Rachel Aguirre, discusses her call to Wall Street and how she uses her position to point others to Christ. If you're in a difficult season of balancing marriage, motherhood, and career, or struggling to find Kingdom purpose in a marketplace position, Rachel has some wisdom and experience for you to glean from today. SHOW NOTES: Life Ministry Rachel views every commitment and responsibility as ministry and lives out the gospel with everyone she encounters. Marketplace Ministry Rachel remarks that Jesus: 1. Spent time with people, 2. Was continually moved with compassion, 3. Met people's needs. She encourages us to follow his example in our areas of life. Treasures Through Trails When walking through difficult situations, God walked Rachel through the trial rather than rescuing her from it. The last month has been many days of both – grieving the sudden loss of Scott's dad and growing closer and closer to meeting our first baby boy. In this episode, host Christine Caine is joined by Faith Mdhluli from South Africa. Faith holds degrees in Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Business Administration, and runs the Faithful Heart, Helpful Hands organization that provides opportunities for young girls from underperforming schools to learn and thrive. Faith encourages us today to live generously with what God has given us and lead with excellence in every space. Listen in as she shares how stepping out of your comfort zone makes space for God to move in big ways! SHOW NOTES: Living with Generosity Faith learned generosity from her mother – what do others learn about generosity from you? “In every way I've shown you that it is necessary to help the weak by laboring like this and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, because he said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.'” Acts 20:35 Blessing Others Leadership is not about us, but about the people we are leading. Faith challenges us to steward the opportunities we are given and remarks that leadership is about serving others, how Jesus modeled. Eyes Fixed on Jesus If we know why God has placed us in our position, we can work with confidence that we are fulfilling his purpose. We are never tempted to cut corners or compromise when our eyes are fixed on Jesus. Selfless Leadership When leadership becomes self-serving it will hurt others rather than help them. Today on the podcast, British author, speaker, and apologist, Amy Orr-Ewing, joins Christine Caine to discuss her leadership journey, and all the twists and turns that have come with it. While Amy's journey is one filled with great challenges and disappointment in leaders, this conversation will encourage you to keep moving forward, not give up, and to keep your hope in Jesus when your trust in leadership is broken. SHOW NOTES: Leading with Courage As Christians, Amy encourages us that we can live confidently knowing that God is going before us, he is who he says he is, and even when leaders fail us, he does not. Opening Doors for Women Amy says we've come a long way from the hostility she experienced starting out, but we still have a long way to go. She stands confident that the Word of God releases and empowers women to be witnesses, evangelists, and leaders. Anchored in Christ Amy's newest book, Lead Like the Real You, unpacks her painful season in 2020 when disappointment in a leader shook her to the core. The Holy Spirit was faithful to rebuild her and used a dear friend to remind her that even Jesus was betrayed by Judas. A huge part of my life and story is the work that I had the opportunity to do with A21 which is a global anti-human trafficking organization. With today, July 30th, being World Day Against Human Trafficking, I wanted to host a conversation with one of my teammates, Markee Johnson, about what we can do in our everyday lives to advocate for the freedom of others. US National Human Trafficking Hotline (1-888-373-7888) @a21 on Instagram A21.org A21.org/Give Walk For Freedom is a day of global awareness and local action in the fight against human trafficking. This Saturday, October 19, 2024, thousands of people will hit the streets in hundreds of cities across the globe to walk in a single file line–holding posters and handing out flyers–to reach their city with information about human trafficking and how to end it.
