Our team at UCA has been looking for ways to speak more directly to issues of race and racial injustice that affect our communities. Therefore we created the Arkansas Racial Equity Summit that will take place on October 8. Leading up to the Summit, we asked Dr. Phillip Fletcher, executive director of CoHO, to join us on the podcast to share about his career, his work in Conway and around Arkansas, and issues of racial inequality that face our communities. CoHO is celebrating 13 years of advocating for others by opening holistic centers in Central Arkansas's under-resourced areas.

In 2018, Evangelist Daniel King organized a massive evangelistic outreach in the nation of Belize. Ten evangelists joined together and did ten crusades simultaneously. Dana Foster chats with Tamara who co-runs a charity called, Her International, empowering women through global education. H.O.P.E. Outreach is a nighttime outreach for homeless and exploited women.Together Her International and HOPE Outreach have partnered to create an annual benefit for marginalized women called HOPE in Her Eyes.   

I’m IKatrina McCain is a former Fashion Model from Charlotte, NC. She is the founder and president of Pearls of Hope Outreach and has a passion to encourage women of all ages to live for Jesus authentically, in spite of the culture that tells them they can’t. She's earned a BA in Literature from UNC-Charlotte and  holds an MA in Education. She is the proud wife of her husband, Jarrett, and mother to her sweet girls, Kailyn and Jaelle. We were able to hear from Katrina about Beyond Being Good- her new book! She shares why this message is for woman on both ends of the spectrum- the ones who have struggled with pride about being "good," and the ones who have struggled with the feeling of never being "good enough." She also dishes on her past career in the fashion industry as a model, and how that encouraged her to build other women up. Hope Outreach

"Helping Out People Exploited," better known as HOPE Outreach in the Okanagan, is an organization dedicated to providing services to the homeless and/or sexually exploited women in downtown Kelowna. In this episode of Speculum, we hear from Chase Crisfield, a volunteer with HOPE Outreach, about what HOPE does and how the health care community and general population can help support our local homeless population.
