Salimos de Sasamón, provincia de Burgos, con nuestro Seat 131 Supermirafiori, que ya tiene más kilómetros que el baúl de la Piquer, y ponemos rumbo sureste. Cogemos la BU-404, enlazamos con la A-231 y posteriormente con la A-15 dirección Soria. Tras aproximadamente 150 kilómetros, lo justo para que te dé tiempo a discutir con el copiloto, llegamos a Calatañazor, un municipio con unos 43 habitantes. Es el típico pueblo en el que cuando en verano van los hijos con los nietos , se llega fácilmente a 200. Calatañazor es uno de esos pueblos que parecen un decorado de película medieval, pero sin figurantes, solo protagonistas, porque no hay gente para figurar. Aparte de la gran urbe, tiene dos núcleos poblacionales más: Abioncillo de Calatañazor y Aldehuela de Calatañazor. En cuanto a la etimología de su nombre hay dos corrientes de pensamiento, como los terraplanistas y los otros. Opción 1, proviene de Qal'at an-Nusur (castillo de las águilas). Opción 2, proviene de Qal'at an-Nazur (castillo de la torre) Su gentilicio es Villano o Villana, como Lex Luthor o el Joker. Históricamente lo importante pasó, muy pronto, en el verano de 1002 (se ve que no quisieron ajustar más la fecha). Aquí tuvo lugar la famosa batalla de Calatañazor, donde “”Almanzor perdió su tambor”, ya que fue su primera derrota en una batalla. Además de Almanzor, por aquí pasaron Alfonso X, Sancho IV y Maria de Padilla. De hecho los Padilla fueron los señores de todo esto mucho tiempo hasta que pasó a los duques de Medinaceli, y finalmente acabó en manos del marqués de Feria. No confundir con el duque de Feria. Al marqués de Feria no le gustaban las niñas, esa es la diferencia. El pueblo está en lo alto de un cerro, con calles empedradas, casas de madera y adobe, y un silencio que da miedo. Su castillo, en ruinas pero con mucha presencia, domina el paisaje. Es de esos sitios donde uno se imagina a los soldados vigilando el horizonte… o echando la siesta, porque con 50 habitantes no hay mucho que vigilar. También destaca la iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Castillo, que es románica, gótica, o lo que haya tocado ese día, porque ya sabéis que estas etiquetas son un poco “café para todos”. En cuanto a naturaleza, el entorno es espectacular. Está cerca del sabinar de Calatañazor, uno de los más importantes de Europa. Yo se que todos lo sabéis, pero una sabina es el arbol Juniperus thurifera. La vida en el pueblo es tranquila. Demasiado tranquila El cotilleo debe ser aqui deporte olimpico, Sus fiestas son las típicas: procesión, verbena y ese momento mágico en el que alguien saca una guitarra y se cree Paco de Lucia. Pero lo bonito de Calatañazor es eso, que mantiene la esencia de la España más auténtica, esa donde el tiempo se paró… y nadie ha venido a darle al play. Nos vamos de Calatañazor con la sensación de haber estado en un sitio donde la historia pesa más que los habitantes. Y eso, amigos, no es fácil.
