Cincinnati Bengals Special Teams Coach Darrin Simmons returns to In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to give us his final Bengals 2023 preview before the season starts on September 10th. Coach Simmons has had an exciting training camp with the first true punter battle he has had in quite some time, with Kevin Huber being the Bengals punter for over 10 seasons. There are also battles for other spots on the special team units like gunner for the punt team and the return man for both punts and kickoffs. It will be interesting to see who makes the roster and who will just be special team players like Stanley Morgan has been for the past couple of seasons. Will an unexpected rookie not make the team because he doesn't play special teams or will a surprise undrafted player make it because he does? Everything will be answered by Tuesday when the Bengals roster is cut to 53 players right in time for the season opener against the Clevland Browns. We hope you fans really enjoy this episode of In the Trenches with Dave Lapham brought to you by First Star Logistics and we can't wait for the season to start in just two short weeks! We also look forward to growing our new central channel, First Star Media Group, and having you fans follow us along the ride. Sunday Morning Kicker Podcast - Kicker und Punter in der NFL
Ich scheitere an der CFL, Kevin Huber sagt leise Servus und in der ELF lief es ganz gut (wenn gespielt wurde).
When the Cincinnati Bengals selected Michigan punter Brad Robbins in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, they sent a message about competition being open at every position on the field. Last season saw a change at punter, with longtime punter Kevin Huber being pushed by Drue Chrisman before Huber was released and Chrisman was signed to the active roster. Now, Chrisman will be pushed, as many expect Robbins to replace the former Ohio State punter this season. Robbins joins Dave Lapham In The Trenches, presented by First Star Logistics, to discuss being a multi-sport athlete growing up in Central Ohio, choosing Michigan despite his parents both being Ohio State grads, playing for Jim Harbaugh and how an injury prepared him to think of a life without the game of football.
Join me this week as I sit down with Kevin Huber, “the nerd you want to know!” He's the CEO of IT Outlet, tackling complex infrastructure projects that others may shy away from. Kevin knows how to play the long game and take calculated risks. We'll delve into his journey from start to CEO and how he has navigated the challenges along the way. We'll also discuss the importance of hiring for the culture of your business, how to assess this, and the significance of putting purpose and intentionality behind your goals. Tune in for valuable insights from Kevin! Find more from Kevin here.
Special teams are not on the Bengals' priority list of draft concerns. But are there some possible names that they could look at to compete with Drue Chrisman at punter? Next week's NFL Combine features several big-name punters the Bengals should keep their eyes on. One of them is Bryce Baringer out of Michigan State who had a strong showing at the Reese's Senior Bowl a few weeks ago. Although he could be drafted late in the draft in April, he could still be someone the Bengals could watch. Down the middle of the pack of prospects, underrated players like local product and Cincinnati Bearcats linebacker Ivan Pace Jr. make the case for being a solid mid-round pick that could fit multiple needs for the Bengals. Running backs like Zach Charbonnet or defensive tackles like Jaquelin Roy might provide some immediate and future depth and could have a solid NFL Combine. The Strictly Stripes podcast crew breaks down all the areas of the Bengals' special teams unit from 2022. From the transition of Kevin Huber and Clark Harris to Drue Chrisman and Cal Adomitis, the Bengals are literally entering a new era at special teams. Kicker Evan McPherson continues making a name for himself early in his eventful NFL career. This podcast features Mohammad Ahmad, Andrew Gillis and Michael Niziolek. On today's show, we break down the Cincinnati Bengals fourth consecutive win and third consecutive win over the Kansas City Chiefs. We open by evaluating the Bengals standing not only in the AFC, but as a leading power in the league as a whole. Then, we turn to Joe Burrow, who contributed 281 yards passing and 46 yards rushing with 3 total touchdowns in yet another masterful passing performance. Later, we talk about the impressive coaching job by Zac Taylor and Brian Callahan to revamp this Bengals offense into one of the most efficient units in the NFL. We then shift to the defensive side of the ball to look at hustle plays that changed the game from Joseph Ossai, Germaine Pratt, Vonn Bell, and more. Finally, we close with some thoughts on the release of a franchise cornerstone in Kevin Huber.
Former Cincinnati Bengals kicker Jim Breech knows all about being in a battle for your job in the NFL. Breech experienced both sides of the battle during his long career before being a member of the Bengals and then during his time in the stripes. Breech looks at the battle between Bengals longtime punter Kevin Huber and the young leg of Drue Chrisman. Breech also discusses In The Trenches with Dave Lapham, presented by First Star Logistics, how the Bengals offense, even without star receiver Ja'Marr Chase, can beat you running the ball or using the arm of quarterback Joe Burrow to strike through the air. Sunday, the Bengals travel to Nashville to battle the Tennessee Titans in a game the Bengals need to win to keep pace in the AFC North and the overall AFC playoff picture, and Breech shows off his football knowledge by breaking it down.
The Cincinnati Bengals returned to action Sunday afternoon, looking for their first win in the AFC North and to continue the style of play they showed before taking a week away for their bye week. The Pittsburgh Steelers were looking to continue their strong showing from the previous week but found the Bengals ready to start their march to stay on pace with the Baltimore Ravens in the North and goals of making another run in the AFC playoffs in reach. Joe Burrow may have seen T.J. Watt make another big-time play against him, but in the end, Burrow and the Bengals offense were ready to pick the Steelers defense apart as Burrow passed for four touchdowns 355 yards in the 37-30 win. Tee Higgins showed why he's also a number one NFL receiver with nine catches for a season-high 148 yards as running back Samaje Perine took three Burrow passes for touchdowns. Burrow's other touchdown went to Trenton Irwin, the first of his NFL career. The Bengals also received several solid performances from the defensive side, as Sam Hubbard and Trey Hendrickson each pressured Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett. Drue Chrisman survived the pressure of his first regular season NFL game after being brought up to replace longtime Bengals punter Kevin Huber against the Steelers. He delivered with three punts, including two putting the Steelers inside the twenty. Following the game, Lap took time before jumping on the bus to give his postgame thoughts on the Bengals win, the injury to Joe Mixon, and the Bengals next opponent, the Tennessee Titans, presented by First Star Logistics.
With the bye week in full swing, Mike and Lindsay discuss some of the biggest questions surrounding the Cincinnati Bengals at the midway point of the season. Following the crazy outcome of Sunday's match-up between Cincinnati and Pittsburgh, Dave Lapham put together his thoughts on the 23-20 loss that saw multiple turnovers by Joe Burrow, injury to long snapper Clark Harris that forced Mitchell Wilcox to take over the duty, and resulted in a snap that saw an Evan McPherson field goal blocked, and one where Kevin Huber had to reach to grab with McPherson hitting it to the left. First Star Logistics presents Dave Lapham In The Trenches.
The Bengals picked up Devin Asiasi, Max Scharping, and Jay Tufele off waivers. They also gave Allan George a spot on the roster and kept Kevin Huber as their punter. Support the show: https://patreon.com/dhsports
On today's show, we react to a week of roster churn from the Cincinnati Bengals, which included some surprising cuts and new faces entering the building. First, we discuss our overall takeaways, including some of our thoughts on the impressive safety room, the lingering questions on the offensive line, and our excitement to see Jeff Gunter make the squad. Next, we discuss some of the since-outdated OJ Howard buzz and why the Bengals need to add a little more juice in the tight end room. Then, we look at waiver wire additions Devin Asiasi (TE from New England), Max Scharping (OG from Houston), and Jay Tufele (DL from Jacksonville). In particular, we talk about how Scharping could nudge Jackson Carman out of a job. From there, we naturally transition into our discussion about Cordell Volson formally being named the starter at left guard and what that means in the big picture. Finally, we wrap up our show talking about Kevin Huber's victory in the punting battle against Drue Chrisman and how that shakes for the future in Cincinnati.
It's the ”You're Still The One” edition of the #Bengals Booth Podcast as I chat with Kevin Huber about winning a training camp battle to return for his 14th season as the Bengals punter. Then Dave Lapham joins me to discuss a flurry of player transactions in assembling the 53-man roster – from cuts, to waiver claims, to free agency.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

How are they handling all the negativity on social media right now? We all know how nasty internet trolls can be. Rachel will even tell a story about a fan sending Tyler a Venmo request after losing a bet and blaming him.
