Cincinnati Bengals special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the Bengal's special teams and how the next game against the Pittsburgh Steelers is a must-win game.  The Bengals special teams have been up and down this year with McPhearson having the worst season of his career missing huge kicks in many of the Bengal's losses this year. Cincinnati Bengals center Ted Karras joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the Bengals disappointing loss to the Los Angeles Chargers and how the next six games will define the Bengals's 2024 season.  It was another amazing game where the Bengals fell just short on Sunday night falling to the Chargers 34-27. NFL broadcaster Charles Davis joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the Bengals' 37-17 loss to the Philadephia Eagles and how he's never counting out Joe Burrow and the Bengals.   It was another home loss for the Bengals as they fell to 3-5 in the 2024 season. The game was tied late in the 3rd quarter but after three big plays for the Eagles, the game seemed to slip away for the Bengals.  There were many reasons the Bengals lost on Sunday but a big one was having their #2 wide receiver out with injury. Tee Higgins was ruled out before the game after he injured his quad on Friday and now the Bengals are 0-3 without Higgins in the 2024 season. Former Cincinnati Bengal and NBC broadcaster Cris Collinsworth joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the Bengals win over the New York Giants and how the Bengals can still turn their 2024 season around.  Cris of course called the game on Sunday night and it was a surprising outcome. Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver coach Troy Walters joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the Bengals win against the Carolina Panthers and how the Bengals wide receiver room is the best in the NFL. Former Cincinnati Bengal defensive back Eric Thomas joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the Bengal's very disappointing 0-3 start and how the team can rebound and save their season.  It was an amazing game in the Jungle on Monday Night Football as the Commanders beat the Bengals 38-33 in a shootout. Sadly for the Bengals the loss puts them in a 3 game hole for the AFC North and an uphill battle to make the playoffs. While the offense played great the defense let the Commanders score on all 6 of their offensive possessions. There were obvious problems on the defense with Jayden Daniels going 21/23 passing and throwing for 264 yards and 2 TDs.  This Sunday is an absolute must-win for the Bengals. The defense needs to play better against former Bengal quarterback Andy Dalton and falling to a 0-4 start would essentially end their season before October. Cincinnati Bengals special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the 2024 punter battle and the new kickoff rules for the 2024 season.  The Bengals currently have three punters battling it out for the starting job: 2023 draft pick Brad Robbins, Austin McNamara, a college free agent from Texas Tech, and Ryan Rehkow, a college free agent from BYU.  Coach Simmons is impressed with all three, each with its strengths and weaknesses. Simmons says the battle will be cut to two by the time the Bengals play their first preseason game next Saturday.  One of the biggest changes for the 2024 NFL season is the new kickoff. Cincinnati Bengals new offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the arrival of training camp and how the Bengals offense will be better than ever in 2024. Who will be Tyler Boyd's replacement in the slot for the Bengals in 2024? The Bengals selected a talented receiver in the 3rd round of the NFL draft with Jermaine Burton but rookie wide receivers usually take time to adjust to the NFL so maybe someone else will emerge early in the season. Andrei Iosivas was impressive in OTAs so maybe the second-year wideout can make a name for himself. The Bengals also have several tight ends they really value. It will be interesting to see which one will emerge to start after a lackluster year from the tight ends in 2023. The front runner would be new free agent Mike Gesicki who is a pure receiving tight end, something the Bengals haven't had since drafting Joe Burrow. The Bengals have done a-lot this offseason to improve this offense and now we get to see it to action for the first time and with a healthy Joe Burrow the sky is the limit for the Bengals in 2024.
