Cincinnati Bengals special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the Bengal's special teams and how the next game against the Pittsburgh Steelers is a must-win game.  The Bengals special teams have been up and down this year with McPhearson having the worst season of his career missing huge kicks in many of the Bengal's losses this year. NFL broadcaster Charles Davis joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the Bengals' 37-17 loss to the Philadephia Eagles and how he's never counting out Joe Burrow and the Bengals.   It was another home loss for the Bengals as they fell to 3-5 in the 2024 season. Former Cincinnati Bengal and NBC broadcaster Cris Collinsworth joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the Bengals win over the New York Giants and how the Bengals can still turn their 2024 season around.  Cris of course called the game on Sunday night and it was a surprising outcome. BJ Hill and Trey Hendrickson were huge standouts, giving the Giants problems all game. It was another great day for Joe Burrow and the Bengals offense scoring over 30 points for the second week in a row.  The Bengals are now two games back in the AFC North and have a huge divisional matchup in Week 5 with the Baltimore Ravens coming to town. The Ravens are coming off a great performance against the Buffalo Bills and have found their identity running the ball extremely well the last two weeks. The game against Baltimore would be a huge win for the Bengals and put them right where they need to be for a playoff push in the middle of the season. A loss wouldn't end their season but would put them heavily behind in the division and playoff standings. Former Cincinnati Bengal defensive back Eric Thomas joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the Bengal's very disappointing 0-3 start and how the team can rebound and save their season.  It was an amazing game in the Jungle on Monday Night Football as the Commanders beat the Bengals 38-33 in a shootout. Sadly for the Bengals the loss puts them in a 3 game hole for the AFC North and an uphill battle to make the playoffs. While the offense played great the defense let the Commanders score on all 6 of their offensive possessions. There were obvious problems on the defense with Jayden Daniels going 21/23 passing and throwing for 264 yards and 2 TDs.  This Sunday is an absolute must-win for the Bengals. The defense needs to play better against former Bengal quarterback Andy Dalton and falling to a 0-4 start would essentially end their season before October. Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the Bengal's major offensive improvements in their week 2 thriller against the Kansas City Chiefs.  Coach Pitcher and Coach Taylor had an amazing game plan against the Chiefs in Week 2, and a big weapon in that game plan was the usage of the Bengal's tight ends. Burrow had a career day throwing to his tight ends, who totaled 14 receptions for 151 yards. Erick All and Mike Gesicki were the big standouts that will have a pivotal role going forward in the 2024 season. Even though the Bengals lost a thriller vs the defending Super Bowl champions it was great to see the offense back in rhythm after a rough first game against the Patriots. Former Cincinnati Bengal and sports commenter Solomon Wilcots joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham to discuss the Bengals week 1 loss to the New England Patriots.  It was a horrible opener for the Bengals who fell to the New England Patriots 16-10. Joe Burrow and the Bengals offense never got anything going and when they did they had a costly turnover on the goal line.  Turnovers were a deciding factor in the Bengals loss with the Bengals losing the turnover battle 2-0.
