Break 1: Kia MOG (07.14.22 KIA MOG) STORY 1: Pedestrian dies after Gwinnett police car hit him near Norcross The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a fatal accident where a Gwinnett County Police patrol vehicle struck a pedestrian on Beaver Ruin Road near Norcross early Monday morning. The pedestrian, who was crossing outside a crosswalk, was transported by paramedics but later died from his injuries. The victim's identity has not been released. Since a police officer was involved, the State Patrol is leading the investigation, with assistance from Gwinnett County Police as needed. STORY 2: Lawrenceville wants to add 19,000 residents through annexation in 2027 Lawrenceville is planning a major annexation that could make it Gwinnett County's largest city, adding 19,000 residents and 5,700 parcels. The proposal requires Georgia General Assembly approval for a May 2026 referendum, with annexation taking effect in 2027 if voters approve. The plan would increase Lawrenceville's population to over 50,000, consolidating schools and reducing tax-exempt properties. City officials aim to enhance services, strengthen schools, and foster community pride, with outreach planned to explain the benefits to voters. STORY 3: Gwinnett Chamber Promotes Patricia Sledge to Senior Vice President of Accounting & Finance The Gwinnett Chamber has promoted Patricia Sledge to Senior Vice President of Accounting & Finance, effective Jan. 1. Sledge has been pivotal in managing the Chamber’s financial operations, delivering the 2025 budget, and ensuring clean audit results. Beyond finance, she oversaw IT installations and tenant agreements following the Chamber’s renovation. President Nick Masino praised her leadership and contributions, calling her an essential part of the team. England underwent a successful procedure Saturday night and is recovering in the hospital. Burns expressed gratitude for the prayers and support for England and his wife, Cindy. England, who served 18 years in the Georgia House and chaired the Appropriations Committee, retired in 2022 and was honored for his contributions to agricultural education and programs in Georgia. STORY 5: North Gwinnett Grad C.J. Uzomah Wins Super Bowl with Eagles C.J. Uzomah, a North Gwinnett grad, became a Super Bowl champion despite being sidelined by injury as his Philadelphia Eagles defeated the two-time defending champions 40-22 in Super Bowl LIV. The 32-year-old tight end, in his 10th NFL season, rejoined the Eagles from injured reserve but wasn’t added to the final roster for the game. Uzomah, a former Auburn standout and fifth-round pick by the Bengals in 2015, previously played in a Super Bowl with Cincinnati in 2021, despite a knee injury. The New York Jets are focused on clearing out salary cap space as the NFL offseason is set to open in less than one week. The team moved on from veteran tight end CJ Uzomah, clearing out more than $5 million in cap space by releasing him. Uzomah was signed two years ago but struggled to carve out a role with the team. Tight end Irv Smith Jr. is going to be a critical piece of the Bengals' offense next season. Smith has some big shoes to fill in place of Hayden Hurst who left the team in free agency back in March. Jerry says the Nets have a problem closing out games. Jerry has more from around the NBA. Jerry plays a clip from Sal Licata last night when a caller talked about guys putting things in other guy's lockers. In the final segment of the hour, they discuss Max Scherzer throwing 72 pitches yesterday, which seems like a lot. They also discuss deGrom and his future earnings. Nobody has signed Michael Conforto yet. Gio blames Scott Boras for that because he's unrealistic.    Hour 3:   The 8am hour begins with Gio talking about someone in the financial world who quit Twitter because of the negativity. Gio wants to have someone else run his Twitter. He spends too much time on Twitter and it's unhealthy. Boomer segues into Deshaun Watson's contract and how it covers him for his sure to be upcoming suspension. Boomer said he tweeted about this and it was misinterpreted by some on Twitter. Jerry returns with another update. The Falcons put out a video of Matt Ryan as an homage to his career with them. The Falcons sign Marcus Mariota. The Nets beat the Jazz last night. We are confused about ker-bangers and ben wa balls. Jacob deGrom will pitch for the Mets today. Yesterday, Max Scherzer threw 72 pitches which seems like a lot. They quiz Al to see if he can name over 20 types of balls. He does it. Final segment of the hour, we discuss the rumor that NY will drop the vaccine mandates this coming Thursday, which would be great for Kyrie and the Nets as well as the Mets & Yankees. We also talk about NFL QBs and the salaries and how much teams are willing to pay.    Hour 4: We start the hour talking about the Browns and Deshaun Watson and his contract. Boomer looks at that contract and wonders what the Ravens will do with Lamar Jackson. The Browns have gone through tons of QBs over the years. Boomer thinks Matt Ryan will do well with the Colts. Boomer likes the Jets offseason moves so far. There has been a lot of QB movement in the NFL and we're not done yet. Baker Mayfield will go somewhere. The Deshaun Watson contract shows how desperate the Browns are. Jerry's back for his final update of the day. Leonard Fournette is headed back to the Bucs. Gene Deckerhoff, the voice of the Bucs and Florida State, announces his retirement. KD and the Nets beat the Jazz and Jerry has audio from Ian Eagle. Max Scherzer pitched for the Mets yesterday and he reacted to that. Final segment on this Tuesday, we talk about Al Michaels to Amazon and how Kevin Burkhardtwill now be the number one guy at Fox. A caller said he thinks he saw the Tom Seaver statue on the back of a truck headed up to Citi Field. Boomer is pissed it took the Mets this long to get a statue for Seaver.
