Other discussion topics include: the abundance of children (shout out to the baby who was never seen again iykyk), Kim Seon-ho's RANGE, and the sweetest Halmeoni as well as the loving community of townspeople and working through their individual stories. Korea24 – 2021.10.19. (Tuesday) News Briefing: The Joint Chiefs of Staff(JCS) reported that North Korea fired a ballistic missile into the East Sea on Tuesday morning, adding that they suspect it may have been a short-range submarine-launched ballistic missile(SLBM). South Korea’s National Security Council(NSC) has expressed regret over the latest firing, and the U.S. military denounced the launch, but assessed that it doesn’t pose an immediate threat. (Koo Hee-jin) In-Depth News Analysis: Recent data has shown that the wealth gap is widening among young Koreans. According to Statistics Korea, among Koreans in their 20s and 30s, those in the upper 20 percent wealth bracket had accumulated 35 times more wealth than the lower 20 percent in 2020. A year earlier, that gap was 33 times. Experts say that the reason for this gap is due to more parents passing down their wealth to those in the top 20 percent. To discuss the data and what it could mean for Korean society, Professor Lee Seung-yoon (이승윤) from the Department of Social Welfare at Chung-ang (중앙) University joins us on the line. Grace (@tinygracesings) and I deep-dive into the finale of Hospital Playlist Season 2! Ah what to do now, my "healing" drama and my weekly dates with Got7's Jinyoung have come to an end ;_; Lucky for us tho, we have Kim Seon-ho and Shin Min-ah (aka Dimple couple) from Hometown Chachacha to help us tide over Monday blues and mental trauma from watching Squid Game.... BUT THAT'S FOR THE NEXT PODCAST. Obviously I watched the biggest Netflix Kdrama phenomenon of 2021. Hang tight folks, my Squid Game podcast episode is in the works~! You can find me on Twitter (@TteokShow) and on Instagram (@bellethefreeelf). Music is "Could I get you a drink?" and "Time to go home" by Fernice Goh (ig: @fer_nicemusic). It's Kim Seon-ho's world and we're all just living in it! Kim and Maddie, along with pretty much everyone else, have been excitedly awaiting his new show and it did not disappoint. They discuss the beautiful cinematography and the relationship already brewing between the two leads. They also chat theories about Chief Hong's back story, the charm of the townspeople, looking forward to watching Hye-jin win them over, and very much digging Kim Seon-ho as a handyman (give us all the jeans, flannels + dimples plz and thank you!!!)
In order to break the power of the nobles, who have grown accustomed to their privileges under the bone rank system, Ji So plans to create a new elite group, the Hwarang that will cut across the existing power factions, and to bind them to protect Sam maek jong and the throne. As this new elite group of male youths bond and grow, they are unaware that within their number is their future king, Sam maek jong, and Kim Seon-u, a commoner with a secret even he is not aware of.
If you’re a friend of The SEOULMATES Pod then you probably know that Princess Hours (aired in 2006) has a v special place in Kim’s heart as her first Kdrama ever in 2008. Maddie has been planning on watching at ~some~ point but when the first news of the remake was announced, she figured now was as good a time as any! After watching the first seven episodes, they talk through some of Maddie’s initial thoughts and reactions (the hair!!! the fashion!!!!! the flip phones!!!!! the plot which STILL stands up!!!) as well as decide Cha Eun-woo is currently their first choice to play Shin Goon in the remake (but only because Kim Seon-ho is probs a little out of age range it’s fine).
