Winkler regarding his book "The Mighty A: The Mighty A: The Short, Heroic Life of the USS Atlanta (CL-51): America's First Warship Commissioned After Pearl Harbor". Prior to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the U.S. Navy's leadership discovered that the surface fleet was highly vulnerable to air attack, thanks to the introduction of drone aircraft that could simulate attacks on its warships. The Navy's gunners simply did not have the coordinated firepower to knock them down. Recognition of this vulnerability resulted in a new class of warship led by USS Atlanta.

In a conversation with CancerNetwork® during Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, Tanios S. Bekaii-Saab, MD, spoke about various developments in the pancreatic cancer treatment field. Throughout the discussion, Bekaii-Saab weighed the benefits of currently available chemotherapeutic regimens for patients with metastatic disease, discussed research on the potential for precision medicine in those with KRAS wildtype pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), and detailed ongoing initiatives to improve outcomes among those with RAS mutations and other targetable genomic alterations. Bekaii-Saab is the David F. and Margaret T. Grohne Professor of Novel Therapeutics for Cancer Research, chair and consultant in the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Mayo Clinic in Arizona, and co-leader of Advanced Clinical and Translational Science at Mayo Clinic Cancer Center. Given the prevalence of RAS mutations and other alterations in patients with pancreatic cancer, Bekaii-Saab especially emphasized the use of genomic analysis to inform personalized treatment decision-making in the field. Screening patients to detect aberrations such as microsatellite instability-high tumors, BRAF 600E mutations, KRAS G12C mutations, and NRG1 fusions can open the door for the development and use of targeted agents, which may consequently improve patient outcomes.  Looking ahead, Bekaii-Saab noted the need to adapt the therapies that have shown activity in the later stages of the disease to earlier treatment settings. Although “great work” has been achieved with chemotherapy and surgical techniques, he highlighted the importance of bringing targeted agents to earlier lines of therapy to further increase the likelihood of positive outcomes for patients.  “I have never been more optimistic. I'm always the eternal optimist, but I'm even more optimistic today that we're going to move the needle for our patients with pancreatic cancer and continue to enhance that likelihood of living longer, having a better quality of life, or even increasing the level of a cure for this cancer,” Bekaii-Sabb stated. “Certainly, the future looks bright. We're chipping away, one drug at a time. We can now remove that whole concept of nihilism in pancreatic cancer and look quite optimistically on the future.”

David is from Manchester UK and is a Compulsive Gamber, Cocaine Addict married for 21 years with 3 children. He is a business owner who fell into the darkness of gambling which brought to him to his knees for the first time age 35, in 2005. While a member of GA, he never embarked on the 12 steps in the GA fellowship. He only went to meetings and never worked with a sponsor. His las bet was in 14th January 2013, but soon after leaving the rooms of GA late 2014 he crossed over into Cocaine and Alcohol abuse.By October 2020 his life was burnt to the ground once more. His marriage was hanging by a very frayed thread and his relationships with the world and the people within itwere disintegrated. He lost his business due to his addiction in 2021 and finally started working the steps of recovery at that point. His life since has never been thesame, and after experiencing a spiritual awakening, he yearned for more and G-dgraced him with a new sponsor in late 2022 where he embarked on the steps with for the 2nd  time working the Big Book Work Book, further enrichening his 4th dimension experience. His relationship with his wife is blossoming, his relationship with family, friends, and others have been restored. David is now filled with hope faith and courage. Director Zach Cregger discusses his new film, Barbarian, with fellow director David F. Sanberg in a Q&A at the DGA theater in Los Angeles. In the conversation, he discusses creating a photoboard for the film with his cinematographer, shooting Detroit for Bulgaria, and pulling off the last scene in the film in only 40 minutes. The film tells the story of Tess, a young woman who arrives at her Airbnb late at night only to find that her rental has been mistakenly double-booked and a strange man is already staying there.
