Everyone talks about the financial abuse that occurs when you are in an abusive relationship. But what happens after you leave? The financial abuse continues during post separation abuse and oftentimes gets worse. When an abuser believes they are losing control of their victim, they will adapt, intensify and find other ways to abuse. This includes refusing to pay child support or becoming under or unemployed so they do not have to pay as much child support. But the main way in which a narcissist will continue their financial abuse post separation is through continued litigation and legal abuse. So, what can you do to mitigate the financial impact of your narcissistic ex partner? In this episode I talk with financial advisor and survivor, Liz Bailey on her experiences of financial abuse post separation and ways in which survivors can get back on track and maintain some level of groundedness throughout the process. If you want to chat more about this topic I would love to continue our conversation over on Instagram! @risingbeyondpcIf you've been looking for a supportive community of women going through the topics we cover, head over to our website to learn more about the Rising Beyond Community. - https://www.risingbeyondpc.com/ And if you want to support the show you may do so here at, Buy Me A Coffee. March 7, 2024 In honor of Women's History Month's 2024 theme of "Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion," Everything Co-op in collaboration with Co-op Leaders pay Tribute to a dear friend, Elizabeth (Liz) Carolyn Allen Bailey, who recently made her transition January 25, 2024. Liz Bailey, a native of Chippewa Falls, WI, grew up in an extended large, active and musically inclined family, many of whom, like Liz, firmly believed in improving each of the communities in which one lives and works. Liz served as the Managing Principal of The Bailey Group LLC, a Washington DC-based consulting firm focused on economic and community development that includes member-owned cooperative business enterprises. She provided her clients the benefit of her career experience in strategic public policy that combined the private sector, the executive branches of state and federal governments, and extensive non-profit program management. For much of her professional career, Liz held leadership positions with the National Cooperative Business Association CLUSA International, including Interim CEO, VP for Public Policy & Cooperative Development, and almost eight years as Executive Director of the Cooperative Development Foundation, NCBA CLUSA's non-profit affiliate. Bailey held degrees from the University of Wisconsin and the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas. After leaving the NCBA CLUSA, Liz remained active in the promoting of the cooperatives business model through her private consulting and as a member of Cooperation Works, and as a member of the board of a non-profit, Cooperatives Build a Better World, to raise public awareness of cooperatives. She consistently argued that those who support and build cooperatives spend too much time talking to each other rather than to those who would benefit from a better comprehension of the public value of cooperatives.

All too often, the people making the rules on survivor care and policy don't have personal experience in this area. This week William and cohost Samantha are joined by Liz Bailey to talk about her journey to advocacy and the importance of diverse survivors' voices in this space. A speech therapist by trade, she is a survivor, an advocate, and the host of a podcast herself, The Pretty Truth, and she is currently writing a book about her experiences. In this episode, Liz shares the steps she found most useful in the lifelong process of regaining self-trust after leaving an abusive relationship, before shedding light on the value of getting quiet inside and how this action helps build a solid relationship with yourself, from the inside out. We then dive into her passion for advocacy in order to address a system that is broken, and the need for diverse and inclusive survivor voices to fully inform policy and care that is supportive. We also discuss the opportunity to address systemic change and prevention with the next generation, and discuss some all-too-familiar scenarios where education of officers of the law and court is crucial in creating a trauma-informed lens. Please note that this episode carries a trigger warning for domestic abuse. We hope you can join us to hear Liz's vision for the future, plus the perceptive and realistic advice from a friend that allowed her to take the first steps toward empowerment!
Losing a parent has a devastating effect, and losing the parent to suicide can bring compounding grief and anger. On the show today, Liz Bailey, a solicitor living in London, joins Yuliana to discuss losing her father to suicide and how the work she put into dealing with it gave her the courage to step outside the shadow cast by this tragedy and forge a solid path to an inspiring llife filled with purpose. The conversation begins with Liz describing the event that reshaped her life - the tragic death of her father to suicide - as well as finding out about her father's depression after his death, dealing with the immense rage she had towards him, and forging a path to forgiveness. She then delves into how this event caused a shift in her relationship with her mother and brother, her own struggles with depression, and her strong resolve to break the generational curse of depression that seemed to hover over her family. Liz also discusses the importance of raising the emotional inner child we all have as humans into emotional adults. The episode comes to a close with Liz describing the one song that resonates with her life - a song that fills her with great joy. Episode Highlights: - The tragic event that redirected the course of Liz's life - Finding out about her father's depression - Facing her rage - The shift in the relationship with her mother - Processing the guilt around suicide - Liz speaks about her own struggles with depression - Nature vs nurture - Breaking the family “curse” - Raising your emotional inner child - The one song that resonates with Liz's life Quotes: “Anger is actually a normal part of grieving, even when someone doesn't commit suicide, because you're angry with someone for leaving you behind.” “Grief is always complicated, and loss is always complicated. But with a suicide, you have such a high degree of anger that actually makes it, in a way, more difficult to cope with your loss and to feel the sadness, because sometimes the anger is just so overwhelming.” “That's a place of such dark hopelessness that I hope no one you love ever goes to that place ever again.” “27 is the age at which you basically have to stop blaming your parents for all the shit that's gone wrong in your life, and you have to take responsibility for it, and decide how you want your life to be as a proper adult.” “No one is immune to feelings of fear and loss and loneliness and self-doubt.” “Don't focus on the stuff that you didn't achieve today, because you can achieve that stuff tomorrow.” “If you spend your whole life looking for the big moments of joy, you miss the small moments of joy, and life is a series of small moments of joy.” Links: https://www.yulianakimgrant.com/phoenix-tales (Phoenix Tales Homepage) https://www.instagram.com/yulianakimgrantofficial/ (Phoenix Tales on Instagram) https://open.spotify.com/show/1heIpPMsG6HbXXIDLmAnEe (Phoenix Tales on Spotify) https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=322043276201679 (Phoenix Tales on Facebook)
Vernon Oakes, and co-host, John Holdsclaw, are joined by Leaders from the cooperative community to pay tribute to Chuck E. Snyder, President/CEO of National Cooperative Bank (NCB), who made his transition on November 6, 2021. Chuck was a highly respected leader who left an impression on everyone he met. Everything Co-op was pleased to provide a platform for the co-op community to express their extreme sense of loss, and the impact Chuck had on their lives, and/or organizations. Those who paid tribute to Chuck included the following people: Doug O'Brien, Roberta MacDonald, Mary Ann Rothman, Cornelius Blanding, Liz Bailey, Mike Mercer, Leslie Mead, Martin Lowery, Barry Silver, Rich LaRochelle, Paul Hazen, Mary Alex Blanton, David Thompson, RL Condra, Michael Peck, and Pat Thornton. The comments were so heartfelt, and rich we felt they should be shared, and would serve to sooth the pain of Chuck's unexpected transition. For that reason, we invite you to listen to the show on the live stream platforms on Thanksgiving, November 25, 2021

In Ep.60 of the Sports Therapy Association Podcast, due to popular demand we welcome back Physiotherapist & former pro dancer Liz Bailey. Liz was our special guest back in January in Ep.33, talking about 'Virtual Consultation for Dancers' when we were all knee deep in lockdown. During the hour conversation we cover the most common type of dance related injuries that Liz sees, screening for injury (better known as profiling), and the types of progression that Liz and her colleagues are championing in order to help reduce the high incidence of injury seen within in the Performing Arts industry.
