Just in case you're not bored of listening to me talking about football, here is another episode I did with Luke from Luke's English Podcast and Zdenek from Zdenek's English Podcast... the Part 2 part of it! And if you're not a football fan, don't listen to it and don't worry... the Euros are nearly finished!
Another bonus episode for football fans where I teamed up with Luke's English Podcast and Zdenek's English podcast to talk (a bit) about Euro 2020, but just football related stuff in general. Plus lots of talk of the number 3, coca-cola and of course.. the beautiful game! Video version also available here

Most of them praise my work I do with this podcast, some of them are a reaction to my appearance on Luke's English Podcast, some offer a unique insight into my listeners' lifes and ambitions which are often highly relatable to me personally, and there is even an email which helps me identify my own inadequacies. _________________________________________________________________________________________ Facebook - join Zdenek's English Podcast Facebook group, like, share and comment on Facebook teacherzdenek.com - my website (work in progress) I-tunes - write a brief review on I-tunes and help more people find this podcast Email to teacherzdenek@gmail.com - ask me a question, give me feedback, tell me what you think of the show
In this episode I reflect on the experience of featuring in episodes 569 and 570 of Luke's English Podcast. I will tell you how I felt before, during, and after the interview with Luke, and generally explain how much this meant to me. The second part of this episode is an attempt to self-correct some of the more glaring mistakes I made in part 1 of the interview. Infamously, this episode has the Fixer in it - a voice in my head whose purpose is to help with the realisation of my mistakes, but who often does so in a slightly insulting way.

This episode does exactly what it says on the tin. Firstly, I tell you some information about the meet-up, how it was organised, where it happened, and how it compares to the previous one organised a year before during which I had met Luke Thompson of Luke's English Podcast but failed to meet everyone else. As one of the main attraction were board games, I will tell you a bit more about the games we played a well. And then finally I conducted short interviews with each participant about asking about LEP. and This is in my humble opinion by far the most interesting part of the whole episode. Have fun!
In this episode I would like to update you on what I have been doing. I had a free June which means I did a lot of things to kill time. I speak about LEP Premium which is a new service Luke from Luke's English Podcast offers, I talk about my plans for July, and last but not least, I spend considerable amount of time talking about the world cup and the chances of the teams who qualified. This is a completely unedited episode so excuse my mistakes, ramblings, and hesitations.

I have always been impressed by the Pink Gorilla Story episode (episode 125) of Luke's English Podcast and ever since I started doing my podcast I have dreamt of trying my hand at an improvised story like that. It has always been an objective that seemed unlikely to achieve especially because I was never able to keep it engaging and make it funny enough. I think I tried several times in the past and it just wasn't doing it for me. Partly it was because I put too much presssure on myself and had high expectations, which made me alightly too nervous when recording. It appears, finally, I may have managed to record something which seems to at least partially live up to the standards that I set myself. Strangely enough, I had no idea I was gonna do an improvised story. I just felt like recording a ramble episode instead but somehow I indeed ended up recording a story not disimilar to Luke's, at least in terms of the rules for doing this. I promise you, I had no script, and it is rather silly, and not finished, but hey, it's mine, it's original, my precious! The main character of the story is, quite surprisingly, my recorder. I didn't want to feature myself in it because that felt too similar to Luke's PGS in terms of the narration style, but at some point I got carried away and became part of the story, and I believe even turned into the main protagonist. Gandalf also makes an appearance, and the story starts itself in my own room. I wonder what you will think about this. It's definitely one of the most challenging things I have ever attempted to do here on ZEP.
In this episode I talk to Yusuke from Japan on his last day in the Czech Republic. Yusuke is my former student and a new enthusiastic listener to Luke's English Podcast . He has been to one Lepster meet-up, too. In fact, this is his second appearance on the podcast. This episode is fully improvised. There was no zero prep done for it. In it, we speak about different topics revolving around Yusuke's holiday, future plans, and his language studies. We also touch upon Luke's English Podcast, Greeting people in Japan, hitchhiking, and other things.
**Special [AMAZING] Guest** in today's show where I speak to Luke from the wonderful Luke's English Podcast about HOW to deal with AWKWARD situations. We speak about jumping in LAKES, The Beatles
This is the second part of the episode which was recorded during the first Lepster meet-up in Prague. It starts with an arrival of a Japanese Lepster Yusuke. In this episode we discuss what makes Luke's English Podcast so great, we talk about our favourite episodes, and we specualte over possble objectives Luke could achieve in his life. On top of that, I ask everyone a blasphemous question "what the worst episode of LEP is" and why we think that, Jakob ,who is half-French, gets mindblown when he finds out that Luke is living in France and has a French wife, Michale explains why he has listened to the episode Sick in Japan so many times, we also talk about Paul Taylor, and last but not least, we end up speculating about Luke's appearance. The episode includes some banter and also plenty of references to Luke's English Podcast Episodes.
This episode was recorded during the first official Prague Meet-up of Luke's English Podcast listeners. It features listeners Zdenek (Czech), Jakob (French-Czech), Alex (Russian), and Michail (Russian). The entire episode is dedicated to Luke's English Podcast as we discuss numerous questions related to it such as "when did we start listening", "how do we describe a true Lepster", etc.
This episode was recorded during a class with my students from the Middle East. The topic was computer games. My students talked about the impact on children, they explained why there is so much appeal for the latest generation, and even explaining some of the computer gaming slang words. At the start of this episode I included a short invitation message. There is a Lepster meet-up taking place in Prague on Saturday, May 13th. All fans of Luke's English Podcast are welcome to join. The aim of this e-mail is to share some ideas and experiences with the listeners. For example, for the last three months I have been working on my English improvement in a different way. Neither academies, nor boring grammar books, nor that kind of stuff. Now I just do three activities: listening to podcasts intensively, reading English literature and occasionally, doing language exchange (using skype or head to head (face to face), when it´s possible). I carry on listening to your podcast loyally, every week. What´s more, I have found some interesting podcasts. One is Luke´s English podcast, who is friend of yours, isn´t he? This one requires some effort at the beginning, as Luke speaks faster than you, but it´s worth trying it. I would say that AIRC (Aprender Inglés con Reza y Craig) is more academic and Luke is somehow like a TV comedian, so both podcasts together are the perfect team! This way, I can get at least three new episodes or so every week, so I keep continuously active. In combination with bilingual books, this method is really working to (for) me, I feel my English improving one day after another, so I would encourage the AIRC listeners community to try it. In my case, I am learning without noticing it at all! I have got the FCE and the next target is the CAE! By the way, do you know Úbeda?? It´s an UNESCO world heritage city in the province of Jaén (I am consciously promoting tourism for my hometown :) Well, sorry for the endless e-mail (and for mistakes) and thank you very much for your commitment, have a big hug!! The is the second part of the Taking the DELTA series. In this part you hear me fixing a few problems that arose during the last episode. The main content revolves around me talking about the DELTA interview which I needed to pass in order to be accepted for the DELTA course, about what my typical DELTA day looked like, and my feelings of trials and tribulations during the DELTA input sessions and how it contrasted with my university years. There are a lot of put-downs and self-criticism involved. After recording this I realised that I need to change my attitude so remember to take this with a pinch of salt. As a gift to my loyal listeners I have also attached the Luke's English Podcast anecdote competition entry. The legendary "Can I please you story" is back!!!

Here's another episode about what's going on in the UK at the moment - in politics and in football. I know I am talking about this subject a lot at the moment, but I just can't help it - it's too big. Too many things are happening! So there will be more Brexit & football in this episode and then it'll be back to podcasting as usual. Oh and by the way there will be some swearing in this episode because I'll be sharing some comments from some angry people online and generally there has been quite a lot of swearing and kicking of furniture all across the country since Friday - especially yesterday while watching England get knocked out of the Euros. Swearing is rarely appropriate - remember that. Only at the right time in the right place. E.g. when watching England play football, or while thinking for two seconds or more about the EU referendum. Also, another preface here - you'll notice that I'm pretty unhappy about things at the moment, but don't worry I'll bounce back, and Luke's English Podcast will continue with the usual sort of episodes soon. I just have to get some things off my chest about what's been going on. Click here for a transcript: http://wp.me/p4IuUx-6uU

The time has come to test the loyalty of the Zeppers. As you know not long ago Luke launched a cool brand new competition called Luke's English Podcast photo competition. Despite the fiasco in the previous competition in which we were sending in our podcasts, I entered this one as well. I have sent in a photo of me listening to the podcast while cycling to work in rather freezing conditions. I have seen the photos of all the competitors and I have to admit that am up against some tough opposition. That's why I am asking you, my loyal listeners, to vote for my image and help me get a decent place in this prestigious competition. I came up with my top ten reasons (I might have accidentally done just top 9 but nobody needs to know that!) why you should vote for me to help you decide. Even if I don't manage to convince you, I will appreciate if you have a listen to this episode "just for the hell of it". I was drinking beer while recording this episode so it should definitely be taken with a grain of salt. And sugar, too!

Chatting and rapping with Jason R. Levine aka Fluency MC! Click here for more information including YouTube videos and lyrics of our rapping http://wp.me/p4IuUx-2bD I'm feeling pretty excited today because I've got a bit of a celebrity on the podcast. Jason R. Levine, also known as Fluency MC is something of a legend in the world of online English language teaching. He's become pretty well known on YouTube in particular for his videos in which he uses hip hop to bring a fresh approach to teaching English. Jason raps his English lessons, and many of those raps have become YouTube sensations - for example "Stick stuck stuck" the past participle rap (over 2.5million views on Youtube), and the present perfect rap which is a full on explanation of the grammar rules for the present perfect tense, delivered in rhyme. But, Jason is not only a teacher who raps - a look at Jason's CV shows that he is involved in a number of very interesting English teaching projects - he leads workshops, has published material and is an English specialist for the US department of State - which makes him sound like a government agent, and he has a very interesting academic and personal background which has led him to take this fresh new approach to language teaching. On the musical side, Jason raps but he also plays the drums like me, and he DJs and produces his own tunes. There's so much to ask him and so much to talk about, and hopefully Jason will do some rapping on Luke's English Podcast too, and who knows - I might even get involved in that as well. You can look forward to all of it in this episode. (In fact, if you listen to the whole episode you will hear both Jason and me rapping on some of my brother's music). #hiphop #rap #rapping #rhyme #english #tefl #learning #teaching

Hello and welcome to another episode of Luke's English Podcast! In this episode I'm going to interview my friend Mike Bruce about his recent teaching experience in Ghana in West Africa. Mike is an old friend and colleague of mine, he's originally from Scotland, although he doesn't have a particularly strong accent, and he has lived and worked in places all over the world. I've known him for about 13 years and he was one of the first people I ever worked with as a language teacher in Japan. Mike has an amazing CV. He's taught in lots of countries around the world. He's very highly qualified, and as well as teaching students of English as a second language he also teaches teachers how to teach. So, he's pretty much a Jedi Master of English teaching in my opinion. Mike recently came back from a teaching mission in Ghana, and judging by the Facebook photos and statuses, it was quite an epic experience for him. I thought it would be interesting to talk to him about it on Luke's English Podcast. My aim for this interview is to have a bit of a chat with Mike, just a bit of a chat, introduce him to the LEPsters? LEPans? LEPians?LEPenese? LEPlanders? LEPish? LEPaholics? and then find out about his African teaching experience. Click here to visit the page on teacherluke.co.uk for this episode http://wp.me/p4IuUx-2c2
In this episode I called on skype Gabriela from Brazil, my favourite contestant of Luke's English Podcast competition. She is only 13 and has already wonderful English. Especially her accent and pronunciation are truly admirable. I tried to present a theory as to how she managed to do that. We discuss various topics, such as learning English, Luke's English Podcast, Doctor Who, and more. Don't forget to listen to the very end. Gabriela made an icing in the cake for you - a recording in which she impersonates different accents.

This episode is all about zombies - the undead, flesh eaters, walkers, biters, the infected. Click here for a transcript and other links http://wp.me/p4IuUx-1Su whatever you want to call them, zombies have become an indelible part of our popular culture now. There are zombies in the cinemas, zombies on TV in shows like AMC's The Walking Dead, zombies in computer games, zombies online, even zombie walks in which people get together in large groups in order to dress up like zombies and walk around going "uhhhhh". We're pretty obsessed by zombies, and I am too. I love zombies and zombie films. Maybe that makes me some kind of sick and twisted individual, but I'm not alone. In fact, I think that zombies are perhaps as popular and present in our culture as vampires and ghosts. But, what is some of the history behind the zombie phenomenon? Where do they come from? What do they want? Why are we obsessed by zombies? How can you survive if zombies really attack? And, how do we talk about zombies in English? That's the focus of this extra-special and extra-creepy episode of Luke's English Podcast. In the first part we're going to examine the zombie as a popular cultural phenomenon, then in the second part I'm going to test my survival skills by taking a zombie survival quiz. You can join me as I make various decisions that will affect my chances of surviving the zombie apocalypse. In the next episode we're going to consider some conditional structures. That's 0, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and mixed conditionals. #zombies #learning #english #podcast
This is the second part of the interview with Luke Thompson, the author of Luke's English Podcast. What was Luke's initial reaction when I told him about my idea of starting my own podcast? What would have Luke said to me if had been a lawyer? Where is Luke rightly drawing the line and what kind of advice is he giving me? What kind of motivating words does Luke give me and in what way does he think my podcast can become unique? We also spend some time talking about Guillaume, the Swiss guy whom I interviewed in episodes 69 and 70, aplauding him for his courage and setting him as a great example to all English learners. What did Luke learn from doing his podcast? Has Luke's English Podcast changed his life? When will Luke be completely satisfied doing the podcast? Can Luke imagine his life without the podcast? Which one would Luke give up, if he was forced to do it, the podcast or stand-up? Luke also speaks about power and what it is like to do stand-up comedy. There is also a visitor in a form of a duck.
In this double episode I called Guillaume, a long-time ZEP podcast fan from Switzerland. It was not his podcasting debut as he has his own Guillaume's English Podcast. Among others we talked about his country Switzerland, his experience of meeting Luke from Luke's English Podcast and also about the benefits of running one's own podcast. Guillaume also made it clear which episodes of Zdenek's English Podcast he considers the best. This file is the second part actually and at the end of this, you will be able to find the language analysis section attached.

Hello listeners, I am back with the podcast and I am happy to announce that I moved to Audioboo.fm. In this brand new longest episode ever I will tell you more about Crazy English Podcast which was a podcast I did even before discovering Luke's English Podcast. In addition I nostalgically wrote a brand new dialogue between Pat and Mat from which you can hopefully learn some new expressions and idioms and ideally have some laugh, too. And because I look after you, there is a vocabulary analysis which follows. Have fun listening.

Luke answers some common auto-completed questions from Google. Hi listeners. Do you know what "Google auto-complete" is? You know when you start to google something, like maybe 'why is Luke's English Podcast so awesome?' and when you type 'why is', Google completes your question with lots of options? Those options are 'auto-completes'. It's when Google predicts your search based on frequently asked searches. Try typing "why is" into Google. It will give you some options, like "why is the sky blue?" Some auto-completes are quite fascinating, because they make you think "why are people asking these crazy questions?" or "that's a good question - what's the answer?" Episode page: https://teacherluke.co.uk/2013/10/25/151-google-questions/ Some Google auto-completes are really deep, if you take the time to consider them. Have a look at this graphic, which was produced by xkcd http://xkcd.com/1256/ It is a montage of auto-completed questions from Google. I also posted the image on Facebook recently, herehttps://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153357182265508&set=pb.227129545507.-2207520000.1383244673.&type=3&theater Here's a link to the Adweek.com article about women's rights I mentioned too http://www.adweek.com/adfreak/powerful-ads-use-real-google-searches-show-scope-sexism-worldwide-153235 In this episode I decided to try giving my answers to these Google auto-complete questions. You can listen to my answers in this episode, but I'm also interested in your opinions and your findings from google searches. Your task while listening to this is to Google the questions and check the results. Are my answers correct? Leave a comment below to give me your opnions. I hope you enjoy the episode. Cheers, Luke

One Man. One Car. One Destination. *Transcript now available* In this episode you join me in a BMW Mini as I attempt to drive across Paris, through some of Europe's busiest streets, on a very hot July afternoon. My mission is to deliver the car to a car-park while avoiding angry Parisian drivers, pedestrians with prams, and busses full of Japanese tourists. The ultimate goal - a glass of cold beer on the terrace of a cafe, and to save the world through another episode of Luke's English Podcast, of course. Do I manage to complete my mission? And what driving-related vocabulary can you learn during this episode? Listen, and you will find out...
