ECHOES, 8min., Japan Directed by Yusuke Nakamae The Third World War has left Earth's resources depleted, pushing humanity to the brink of extinction. Learning from the repeated mistakes of history, humanity turns to the advanced decision-making capabilities of AI to find a path forward. The solution proposed by the AI is an ambitious plan: transporting energy from outer space back to Earth. https://www.instagram.com/yusuke.nakamae Get to know the filmmaker: What motivated you to make this film? The release of ChatGPT in 2022 really sparked something in me.As a UX designer at Hulu Japan, I've always been close to technology and digital experiences—but that moment made me seriously reflect on what creativity means in an age where AI can generate content. That question became the seed of ECHOES.The sci-fi setting naturally came from my own personal taste and the kinds of stories I love to watch and tell. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video? I was deeply moved and surprised by how many people picked up on the symbolism and emotional undertones. Seeing that the themes I care about resonated across borders and cultures was incredibly rewarding. NPB: Hiroshima's Record-Holding Starter Yusuke Nomura to Retire after Season
Cela me soulage et me déstresse beaucoup.

On this week's episode, Mat is joined by Bar (aka InkByBar) to discuss Kodansha's epic football / soccer manga, Blue Lock.First published in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine back in 2018, Blue Lock, written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and drawn by Yusuke Nomura, is a Football Battle Royale mange in which to craft the world's best striker, 300 Japanese high schoolers are asked to join the Blue Lock program in the hopes of producing the next top striker to help Japan win the World Cup.It's an insane premise, but one Yoichi Isagi gladly signs up for. However, he quickly learns that life in Blue Lock isn't at all like the football he's been playing all his life, and that to live up to the expectations of the new Japanese coach, Jinpachi Ego, he will have to relearn the game and what it means to be a striker.Join us as we discuss sports manga in general, the amazing character design and above all else, if we think this book is worth picking up! Biomedical researchers have long sought ways to repair spinal cord damage with the holy grail of the pursuit being the reconstitution of lost function. In the mid 1990's with the successful culture of human embryonic stem cells, and about a decade later induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), the field was energized with a potential new approach to replace the lost neurons and glia cells and restoring neural connections. In the decades since that discovery some progress has been made, however many hurdles remain, including establishing a functional synaptic connection between the transplanted and host neurons which is crucial for motor function recovery. To boost therapeutic outcomes our guests tested an ex vivo gene therapy to promote synapse formation between the donor and host neurons by expressing the synthetic excitatory synapse organizer CPTX in hiPSCs-derived neural stem and progenitor cells. Tune in to learn what they discovered. So much to unpack with this episode as I sit with Rob Thomas - a Christian American who lived in North Korea with his wife and baby (and Bible?!) - who tells me all about his experience working in the DPRK. Only scratched the surface on this one as there are so many angles to go from! But we start with the basics... how does an American end up working and living in North Korea? And... what was it like? The second part of a two-part episode that is a bit different... I take you on a journey from Beijing in China to the North Korean border in China's northeast. I hope you enjoy the train experience in podcast form as much as I did in reality (probably a lot nicer in podcast form, to be honest!). Cartoon Network had already shown us a superhero fighting evil by moonlight and a character trying to find the dragonballs, but no one was ready for a character run over by car to come back to life as a spirit detective to work with his rival and two demons. Who knew this was the wild card for Cartoon Network. This is my favorite anime of all time and I've followed this series from bizarre timeslots to finding out there was more to the series than I knew. I take you on an audio-guided tour through what some have said to be one of the most dangerous places on earth; the DMZ, the border dividing North and South Korea. Visiting from the northern side, it's actually a lot more chilled out than you might expect. But nevertheless, a visit here should not be taken lightly and you should understand the context of where you're visiting in order to get the most out of your experience.I take you through the history of the DMZ that led to this separation, before taking you on a tour exactly as you would as a tourist right up to the South Korean border standing in North Korea.Hopefully you can make this trip yourself, one day!------------------Contact me with your questions & guest recommendations on zoediscovers@gmail.com.Follow me on;-> Instagram @zoediscoversnk for pictures, videos, and live sessions (when it's possible) from inside North Korea-> TikTok @zoediscovers for long and short-form videos inside North Korea-> YouTube @zoediscovers for vlogs inside North Korea------------------Patrons! Welcome to Take Your Time, a Persona 5 podcast by Jonathon Dornbush and Tom Marks in which the duo will be playing Persona 5 Strikers in sort of real time, but not quite as in real time as our Persona 5 Royal playthrough. Tom and Jonathon continue their P5 Strikers podcast series with episode 5, focused on August 7 - 10, as the Phantom Thieves arrive in Sapporo and learn about their newest Jail and Monarch. After reading some pop quiz question answers and comments from the Take Your Time community, Tom and Jonathon discuss the next leg of the Phantom Thieves trip, as the gang hits the road yet again and arrives in Sapporo. They discuss what the Thieves encounter when they first head into town on a trip to a bathhouse, as well as checking in on how we're feeling about P5 Strikers' requests system. The duo then breaks down the events of the next few days, as the Phantom Thieves meet with Zenkichi to discuss their potential new target, the gang learns about their new surroundings, and Yusuke has a lot of concerns about... milk. Jonathon and Tim dissect the story over these next few days leading up to the new Jail, including our first encounter with the new Monarch, how Strikers twists up its story flow thus far, and some personal developments in the Phantom Thieves lives. Tom also offers his pop quiz question and more. Remember, if you'd like to be part of the show, be sure to write in with your thoughts to dornology@gmail.com, or tweet at Jonathon (@jmdornbush) and Tom (@tomrmarks). We're planning to stick to going through the jail and hitting the road for the next episode, but stay tuned to our Twitters and YouTube for any updates!
Welcome to Take Your Time, a Persona 5 podcast by Jonathon Dornbush and Tom Marks in which the duo will be playing Persona 5 Strikers in sort of real time, but not quite as in real time as our Persona 5 Royal playthrough. Tom and Jonathon continue their P5 Strikers podcast series with episode 4, focused on August 2 - 7, as the Phantom Thieves tackle P5 Strikers' second Jail, ruled by the Monarch Ango Natsume. After reading some pop quiz question answers and comments from the Take Your Time community, Tom and Jonathon dig into the second jail, facing off with the Prince of Nightmares himself, Ango Natsume. The duo discusses what they do and don't like about P5 Strikers' second Jail, how the meta-writing of its story comes through in the writing, and more about how it builds on the structure of Alice's Jail. The duo also discusses the boss fight against Dragon-Ango, how Strikers' battles are building off of some surprising character beats, and more. But because there's a surprising amount of story to get through this week, the duo breaks down Ango's path as a Jail ruler, including his motives for stealing Desires, the people around him, and what redemption could mean for the character. That also means we discuss some of the surprising gray area Strikers finds itself in when it comes to depicting its villains so far, while also reflecting back on how this Jail tees up some key character growth for Yusuke. Jonathon and Tom also talk about what happens after the Jail, including the setup for new goings-on with EMMA's creator, the Phantom Thieves' next plans, and more. Plus, the introduction of Requests, some cute character moments, and our new pal, Gramps. Tom also offers his pop quiz question and more. Remember, if you'd like to be part of the show, be sure to write in with your thoughts to dornology@gmail.com, or tweet at Jonathon (@jmdornbush) and Tom (@tomrmarks). And as always, nice to steal ya.
