COACHING VS ADVICE- Coaching isn't about giving advice or being the expert with all the answers. It's about empowering clients to discover their own solutions by asking powerful questions and listening deeply. This episode explores how to guide clients toward self-discovery and why this approach leads to lasting transformation. My dear brothers and sisters, understand this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger… James 1:19 Key Takeaways: Giving advice creates dependency, while asking questions fosters empowerment and growth. Open-ended questions and active listening help clients uncover their own motivations and solutions. Providing tools and frameworks equips clients to navigate challenges independently. Listener Challenge: In your next coaching session, practice asking open-ended questions and give your client the space to process. Avoid offering advice or solutions—focus on empowering them to find their own answers. Pay attention to how this approach changes the dynamic and strengthens their confidence. Dr. Paulson dives further into the difference between preaching the text of scripture and turning all scripture into personal advice. Here, we see that God is not giving the Law to neutral people but is using his law to accomplish something. That is the death of the sinner. Likewise, the Gospel is not new advice to holy people but the Word God uses to accomplish new life.
