Just so readers know, I got roped into this article to present some kind of counter argument to Marshall Atkinson's devotions to Midjourney and the cult of AI, one of the newer crop of prompt-based art production tools. Read his article before or after you are done here (The Marshall Plan, “Point/Counterpoint: AI Image Generation Pros”). The podcast is better than both, because…Two words: Jeral Tidwell. Give him a Google if you don't know his work.I'm no designer or artist, but I know one when I smell one. Many of my friends and associates are involved in creative endeavors — in print, in art, in design, in music, in life…the makers in our world. I love them all. These are the people who create. They invent and drive the look and feel of our surroundings. Or have, for millennia. Now we're seeing the devaluing and theft of their creativity and ability, and the years putting the time in to develop their skills in whatever area they work in. A couple of prompts, a bit of editing, done! Hear my take in my article and accompanying podcast.

Guess what? With this episode, Season 1 of the Success Stories podcast is officially in the books! Thank you so much for tuning in and enjoying the stories of success that have been shared on this show.We thought it might be fun to turn the tables on me as the interviewer, and we've asked some of the guests from this season to record and send in some questions for me to answer. Six of this year's guests were asked to ask me three questions. One was on a topic I gave them, question two was something they wanted to know about how to improve their business, and the third was a completely fun and silly question.Tune in to hear the questions that Danny Rosin, Robert Fiveash, Traci Miller, Mark Graham, Monica Maglaris, Alison Banholzer, and Brett Bowden have in store for me. By the way, if you like their questions and want to revisit their episodes, don't forget to click and launch those conversations!
Adrienne Palmer chats with three DTG experts, Marshall Atkinson, Geoff Baxter, and Terry Combs, about why, when, and how you should add digital garment printing.
Adrienne Palmer and Marshall Atkinson, Atkinson Consulting and Shirt Lab, discussing what going green really means, the resources available to you that I promise you didn't know about, and the many steps you can take to be a more sustainable shop.
Denise is chief executive officer (CEO) and cofounder of Fairware. Denise got the idea to launch Fairware when she noticed how difficult it was to source promotional merchandise that reflected the social and environmental priorities of many of the brands and organizations she admired. Prior to starting Fairware, Denise spent seven years as the Director of Sustainability and Community for Mountain Equipment Co-op, Canada’s largest outdoor retailer. She is currently a board member of Promo Cares, an industry group with a mission is to inspire, educate and provide actionable strategies to encourage social and environmental responsibility in the promotional products industry and our communities. Marshall also co-founded a decorated apparel industry sales and marketing education company called Shirt Lab, with industry entrepreneur Tom Rauen.
Online shopping has been on the rise for years, but the coronavirus pandemic kicked the trend into overdrive. Amazon recently reported that its Q3 revenue in North America was up 39.3% year over year. And brick and mortar chains have been seeing dramatic gains in online sales this year: Best Buy, for example, reported that its Q2 online sales were up 242% year over year, and Target saw a 195% jump in e-commerce. Even as societal lockdowns are loosening, many consumers are not giving up the convenience of one-click shopping from their sofas. Promotional products pros who’ve invested in technology – with user-friendly, e-commerce enabled websites – have been the most likely to survive during the pandemic – and will be the most likely to thrive in its aftermath. In this episode of Promo Insiders, ASI staffer Theresa Hegel speaks with Marshall Atkinson, a decorated-apparel industry veteran turned success consultant about the power of online stores and how to market your business on the web.

Here are 5 great excused. Don't have the time... Business is growing, no need... I need to be nimble and go with the flow (toilet)... No one will follow it anyway... That's just for the big guys... The real value of creating a business plan is not in having the finished product in hand; rather, the value lies in the process of researching and thinking about your business in a systematic way. The act of planning helps you to think things through thoroughly, study and research if you are not sure of the facts, and look at your ideas critically. It takes time now but avoids costly, perhaps disastrous, mistakes later. Running a business without a plan would be like driving a car with no front window or map. What you see ahead and the info the map gives you doesn't drive the actual car, it just gives you the tools to do it as safely as possible. Developing a Business Plan is VERY EASY! Anyone can do it and it requires no special skills. You have an idea, you take that idea and put it in writing and write out the details. It's about the act of doing it, not about how good or bad it is. BPs have a PR Problem - There is not a name for the two different versions. The true working version is what we talk about, and the formal one that can at times seem like...

Join Mark Graham and fellow chef Marshall Atkinson as they leap head first into the world of embroidery and digitizing. It’s a fascinating world populated by colorful characters and professionals who make it their duty to create the guts of an embroidery design. For some, digitizing is a mere setup charge that represents a cost to be minimized when building a promotional products campaign. For others, it’s one of the most important elements of the entire order. Digitize poorly and you end up costing yourself extra time and money on the shop floor, not to mention compromising logo quality over countless promotional items. Our guest today is Erich Campbell, the head digitizer at Black Duck Embroidery in Albuquerque New Mexico, where he creates some of the industry’s most beautiful and complex digitized files. In addition to Erich’s time at Black Duck, he’s a prolific writer and presenter within the digitizing and embroidery fields having written for Printwear Magzine, Wearables Magazine and the well regarded MrXStitch.com web site. His popular column is called ‘Ghost in the (Embroidery) Machine‘ where he exposes a more varied readership of artists, crafters, craftivists, fiber-workers and lovers of all stripes to the inner workings of machine embroidery and digitizing. Buckle up folks, it’s going to be a heck of ride!
We are conducting a grand experiment today. We recently recorded episode 100, and to honor this we wanted to get as many chefs on a podcast as possible. On today’s podcast - PromoKitchen Podcast #102 - we welcome PromoKitchen chefs Charity Gibson, Aubrey Collins, Danny Rosin, Kirby Hasseman, Marshall Atkinson, Robert Fiveash, Larry Cohen, Patrick Black, Tee Hamilton, Bill Petrie, Dale Denham, Jess Hutwelker, Nate Bailey and Roger Burnett. We wanted to hear from them about what they’ve learned from the podcast, what’s surprised them and even what’s irked them. We’re already thinking about the next 100 episodes and in order to move forward, it’s worthwhile to look back.
