In this episode of the Full Circle Podcast, I am joined by Megan Cooper, a Holistic Health Coach, EFT practitioner and space-holder based in Brighton, UK. In 2015, Megan made the brave decision to leave her corporate career in London and moved to Australia to teach yoga. While there, away from her family and friends, Megan was diagnosed with a hormone imbalance which prompted her to begin healing her body naturally, the success of which led her to study Holistic Health and Nutrition to help others do the same. Megan continues to deepen the way she works with clients, using EFT and Matrix Reimprinting to transform subconscious beliefs, trauma, and the way we see and experience the world: healing the past to interrupt the present and change possibility for the future. Megan joins me in studio to discuss the importance of identifying the root cause of trauma and illness, the impact of trusting your internal compass, and how you can live a fulfilling life that is true to who you are. Quotes“I felt this deadening inside myself, and it wasn't really about the job because lots of people worked in that industry and were perfectly happy. But it was just about me and it not being my authentic place in the world.” - 09:12 “I decided to treat myself holistically and naturally… I did a bit of inventory of the past decade of my life…I basically spent the last 10 years of my life drinking, smoking, taking drugs, partying, not getting much sleep, working in a job that I didn't like… I wonder what would happen if I just did all of the opposite things…” - 22:57 “I went to go and have rescans, and about 18 months later they said ‘You have completely reversed your condition' which is pretty unbelievable.” - 26:19 “I understood the success I had of doing what I was doing, but I didn't understand HOW I'd done it. So that inspired me to go and study holistic health and nutrition.” - 26:56 “I only go wrong when I ignore my own internal compass” - 31:00 “That's where the real liberation lies…as soon as we can bring things back to the root cause rather than chipping away at the edges.” - 37:25 Time stamps 00:00 - About this episode01:55 - An introduction to Megan 04:40 - Megan's journey in the corporate world 07:18 - The beginning of Megan's self-discovery 09:48 - How Megan decided to break away from her job14:12 - What is EFT19:47 - Megan's health struggles 23:40 - How Megan taught herself to treat herself naturally 24:40 - The importance of self-acceptance and positive self-talk 26:19 - The discovery that Megan had reversed her condition naturally27:49 - What inspired Megan to become a coach29:16 - How Megan handles triggers30:45 - The internal knowing32:52 - Megan's advice for changing your life40:27 - The importance of self-trust 42:19 - How to contact Megan Megan Socialshttps://www.higher-love.com/https://www.instagram.com/higherlove_withmegan/https://www.higher-love.com/podcastGillian Socialshttps://www.instagram.com/the.master.coach/https://www.linkedin.com/in/gillian-mcmichael/https://www.facebook.com/GillianMcMichaelMasterCoach https://www.gillianmcmichael.comFull Circle Global Socialshttps://www.instagram.com/fullcircleglobal/https://www.linkedin.com/company/full-circle-development-consultancy/https://www.facebook.com/fullcircleglobal/https://fullcircleglobal.comOrder my book, “Coming Home: A Guide To Being Your True Self”Amazon:https://www.amazon.co.uk/Coming-Home-Guide-Being-Your/dp/1784529702Walmart: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Coming-Home-A-Guide-to-Being-Your-True-Self-Paperback-9781784529703/928206895 Barnes & Noble: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/coming-home-gillian-mcmichael/1141304045 WHSmith: https://www.whsmith.co.uk/products/coming-home-a-guide-to-being-your-true-self/gillian-mcmichael/paperback/9781784529703.html
This theme has been popping up with clients all over the place recently so I felt to share some reflections and insights to act as inspiration and a catalyst for deeper healing, releasing and transformation. We are all consciously or subconsciously pertaining to certain rules we've created around what we can and can't do and often when we want to create change or grow, we need to give ourselves full permission to do so. Sometimes we might be unconsciously waiting for someone else to give us permission, often our parents or care-givers, from our peers or remnants of memories from growing up. Perhaps we'll receive that, perhaps we won't, and ultimately as we continue to forge our own path in life and move into greater truth and authenticity with ourselves, we must become adept at granting OURSELVES permission. Over and over. And on a bigger and bigger scale until we are fully free. Enjoy!
Earlier this month I turned 34 and with it I felt the transition into a new chapter and a new energy in my life. I don't always feel this on birthdays. In fact the last birthday I think I felt such a gear shift was turning 27, the start of our Saturn Return. For this this birthday was an initiation from The Maiden into The Mother archetype, leaving behind a 9 year cycle of more playful experimentation and coming into grounded stability and depth within my work, my partnership, my relationships, my presence and my life in general. It inspired me to share some reflections and it felt even more apt and synchronistic that this is Episode 34.In this episode: - natural feminine archetypal transitions from maiden, to mother, to crone - life occurrences which might catapult us into a different archetypal energy, such as becoming mothers ourselves or losing a parent but also how to harness and embody these transitions for ourselves - the mother wound we are experiencing with our collective disconnection from the divine and sacred feminine - the significance of re-parenting ourselves and attending to the unmet needs of our past to heal our inner child - the invitation to practise radical self-care through re-mothering ourselves in the same way we might choose to care for our own children or those we love most I would love to hear your insights and takeaways from this episode. Megan learned the hard way to be her own best advocate for both birth and breastfeeding, but she also learned that finding the right support is critical to meeting your birthing and baby feeding goals.Although Megan wanted to have an intervention free birth, her first baby was born via urgent c-section while she was under general anesthesia. She did not see her daughter until 2 hours after she was born. Her intuition and ability to feel confident as a mother was almost immediately put to the test when a pediatrician wanted her to start supplementing with formula just days after the birth because her daughter had not yet returned to birth weight. After learning all she could, she chose to have a VBAC at home under the care of a Certified Nurse Midwife when her second daughter was born. She focused on preparing for the homebirth and did not expect breastfeeding to be challenging given the struggles she overcame with her first baby and the fact that she breastfeed for years. It was surprising to be faced with a true problem of slow weight gain that needed to be addressed with the help of an IBCLC.Topics discussed in this episode include:-c-sections-perceived slow weight gain-VBAC and homebirth-true low weight gain-Triple feeding-trusting your intuitionTo get individualized lactation support from me, Lo, go here.To Follow Megan on IG and be supported by her, go to Www.Instagram.com/nofearhomebirthTo hear my story of a redemptive homebirth, listen to me on the Doing it At Home Podcast Head to Apple Podcasts or Spotify for more episodes!Join The Milk Making Minutes Facebook Group to talk about the structural barriers that make breastfeeding so difficult and work together to chip away at each one.To buy books about pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and parenting, and to support the show while doing it, go to my bookshop!Follow me on IG @milkmakingminutespodcast to laugh about breastfeeding and to see photos of guests!
