These talented Tasmanian brothers Tom and Nick Wolfe have been brought up with grass roots and show off, what could be the antioxidant power of the berry farm they grew up on, an amazing display of home family values, passion, determination and love. Their music is inspired by names that we all know and love and some others and we discuss in this podcast their methods, some of the challenges they had getting onto the main land and how after being on the "Australia Got Talent" landed their dream of touring with Lee Kernaghan. Now touring nationally and have live shows all over Australia, after our chat I went to their live show in Gold Coast and it was well worth the trip. Heart of Indie's co host, Emme had a blast chatting with Pepper of Australia's own country rock band 'Hurricane Fall' don't miss out on the fun! Hurricane Fall - the fittest band in Australian Country Music (call them on it and you’ll be challenged to a “lift off”) - are back with a new single, on a new label with the modern country sound that is set to turn heads with a neck-snapping velocity in 2021. The success of their previous single ‘Aftertaste’ has seen them gaining national airplay across the country on stations including Triple M Country, Kix Country and Today’s Country 94.1. The single was also added to Spotify’s “Fresh Country” playlist, racking up over 120,000 streams. They have gathered their first Golden Guitar nomination and a new record deal, ensuring that this year is shaping up as a big one for the boys. Released today on Compass Bros via Universal Music, ‘Lost in Us’ was written by master hook writers Mitch Thompson and Tom Jordan (Seaforth) as well as Lachlan Mitchell and Phil Barton. The band says of the song: “Lost in us is about falling deeply in love with that special someone. Being so caught up in the moment – so in love - that all the other times you thought you were in love, were nothing, compared to the love you have now.” The genesis of ‘Lost in Us’ proved to be very challenging for the band. The song was produced in Melbourne by Michael Paynter and Michael Delorenzis at MSquared Studios, while the band were recording at home in Newcastle, NSW. The band says: “Having a Melbourne based producer presented a huge challenge as the song was completed during the COVID pandemic - right when Melbourne was forced into the harshest lockdown anywhere in the world. We recorded parts and sent them to the guys to keep things moving. The vocals were recorded in [Pepper] Deroy’s son’s bedroom – over Zoom. It truly was a monumental technological feat to bring the song to life!” Hurricane Fall have had a very colourful history for such a young band. They were given an exclusive televised gig to play a private show for Sophie Monk during her star turn on The Bachelorette. They have supported Billy Ray Cyrus on his 2018 Australian Tour, as well as playing alongside The Wolfe Brothers, Kasey Chambers, O’Shea and many more. They are regulars at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, New Zealand’s Top Paddock Music Festival, Deni Ute Muster, and they have plenty more gigs lined up for 2021. Oh, and singer Pepper Deroy has fully recovered from his injuries in that 2019 Air Canada turbulence episode! Hurricane Fall were nominated for their very first Golden Guitar this year in the category of “Group/Duo of the Year.” Fronted by two extraordinary lead singers - Jesse Vee and Pepper Deroy - Hurricane Fall are one of Australian country’s hardest working live bands.

Any history of The Wolfe Brothers that doesn’t begin four generations ago isn’t quite complete. The revered country duo, comprised of brothers Nick and Tom Wolfe, have become renowned over the past few years for their jaw-dropping live shows and slow-but-steady ascent to Australian country music’s upper echelon. Part of their rise has been due to talent, and a lot of it due to hard work. But the truth is that music is in The Wolfe Brothers’ blood.  Their father, the man who encouraged them to start playing and helped facilitate their first shows in their early teens, was a rock drummer. His father played saxophone, touring around the brothers’ home state of Tasmania with a family band. And his father — Nick and Tom’s great-grandfather — was a fiddle player. So to say that The Wolfe Brothers’ story begins anywhere except four generations ago would be disingenuous; it would be ignoring the tides of history. If the musical gene was already in Nick and Tom’s DNA, it was their parents who brought it to full bloom. Their father guided Nick to the guitar and Tom to the piano, and their mother filled the family home with music, exposing her children to 90s country staples like Garth Brooks and Billy Ray Cyrus. It was almost an inevitability that the Wolfe family home would produce two of Australia’s finest country musicians. And The Wolfe Brothers are continuing to produce amazing tracks, adding their latest single ‘No Brakes’ to their catalogue and kicking off the decade with their sites on continuing to make their mark on other shores while continuing to make their mark at home with the start of Wolfe Fest in January of this year! Nick and Tom Wolfe join the DTP to discuss making their debut in Canada at the 2019 Calgary Stampede, staying connected with their dedicated fan base, and their new song ‘No Brakes’, among many other topics!
